I'm sure this has been posted before, but man if we could see this during a game, we're in for a very good year.
Kofi NBA Draft Junkies
Kofi's situation is not dissimilar to a farmer who finds himself toiling in drought conditions. In the following diagram, Illinois (in orange) represents warm moist air.
Farmer Kofi needs to unlock this moisture to grow his crops, but he knows this will not happen on its own. Kofi sees a slow-moving cold front moving in from Kentucky (in blue), but unfortunately the updraft needed to condense the moisture is too slow in developing. Needing immediate resolution to this situation, Kofi calls a friendly pilot from Antigua airlines. Captain Orlando flies a much needed catalyst to the scene.
After the clouds are seeded, the heavens erupt in thunderous fury. The storm rages across Illinois and Kentucky. Amid the tumult of thunder and lightening, the clouds release a much needed soaking upon the land. In the day that follows, Kofi calls his friend Orlando and thanks him for helping mother nature...
Reportedly he told the coaches late last week. Not sure why they waited a week to announce it, but I would assume it had some marketing implications. If your building a brand, being talked about in the national news for a week is a very good thing.Hate to be the downer, but any explanation for why he spent time considering coming back to college but NOT coming back to Illinois?
That ESPN story build up and the ticker/scroll at the bottom of ESPN’s broadcast with the announcement of All-American Kofi Cockburn returning to Illinois as the 2nd lead are pretty strong pitches to make his brand nationwide, not just statewide.Reportedly he told the coaches late last week. I for one am not a fan of the 1LL1NO1S script at all. i find it tacky and was really annoyed our BTT championship banner was written in it.
I haven't seen this posted yet, but the Lexington Herald Ledger had a nice write up on Kofi as "one who got away." The first 2/3 is him, the rest is just sports updates.
Ones that got away: Sampson, Bird, Hana rough, Zion... now Kofi Cockburn?

That's a nice workout but if you pay close attention he shoots his jumper the same way he shoots his free throws, he brings it across his face and shoots it starting from his left cheek. Like Lonzo Ball but not as extreme and not nearly as consistently accurate.I'm sure this has been posted before, but man if we could see this during a game, we're in for a very good year.

I was thinking more proof of concept. He can do it. Now we just need to get everything else dialed in and see it happen while contestedThat's a nice workout but if you pay close attention he shoots his jumper the same way he shoots his free throws, he brings it across his face and shoots it starting from his left cheek. It looks fine from the side but from dead straight on it looks very awkward. That's a really hard motion to keep dialed in, he needs to stay more in line with his shooting shoulder and reduce the variables in his motion.
Yes agree. If he can at least be a threat to make an occasional jumper he'll be a much more valuable commodity to the NBA. He HAS to get that FT shooting up though. That's costing him a lot of points especially on the front end of 1 and 1's, which he gets several a game.I was thinking more proof of concept. He can do it. Agree. I was delighted to see the script return; they're my favorite unis, surpassing the block "FI" text from the '80s. The only incremental change that would make me happier is to see those script unis in orange, a la late '70s (Levi Cobb stuffing Ronne Lester below in the old Iowa Fieldhouse.) If I never see team in navy again I will not shed a tear. Keep it orange and white.Good thing you don't need to hang the banner in your house then.
Of all the retro script jerseys that came back, I think ours are the best. The blues don't look nearly as sharp. The only ones that are better are the Fighting Illini throwbacks.
I want to like this more than once.
It feels satisfying that Kentucky fans are coveting our star. And it smells like... victory.
Nike really did not do a good job with their redesign of our brand. That lettering in particular is really bad and is a nightmare to get spaced properly. Plus they added a bunch of red to our orange and now it looks like peach sometimes. Not a fan. Thanks Mike Thomas.Ah. My bad. I only think of the retro whites as the script jerseys.
Yeah, that type set is not a good look.
Props for anything featuring Levi Cobb!Agree. I was delighted to see the script return; they're my favorite unis, surpassing the block "FI" text from the '80s. That Nike font is garbage. Whoever designed it for Nike for Missouri's rebrand just mailed it in for ours, or vice versa, and I will be happy to see it go the way of that italicized Impact font that we used to use. OK, sorry to contribute to the detour.Nike really did not do a good job with their redesign of our brand. That lettering in particular is really bad and is a nightmare to get spaced properly. Never one to care too much about unis, they could play in burlap sacks for all I care. However, props on the username. Equal parts cleverness and Junior High locker room humor. he will prolly send them a cease and desist order at some pointI'll bet my beach house that Kofi gets no royalties off of "replicas from China."
