Great to see BBV still invested in the team. Could really use him against bigger opposing 4’s next year.

I could see a healthy BBV as a huge surprise. In the spot minutes he played, he showed great athleticism and court awareness. He has a great basketball IQ from the little we saw of him. I’m hoping he’s 100% on our first tip off.

This will hurt more than people expect. We lost our three best perimeter players. Expecting freshman to come in and fill that void immediately (if at all) is a big, big bet.

They are two different players but I actually would say Trent is a better overall player (scoring, passing, dribbling, defense), opposed to AG (3's which is super close, and rebounding)
Yeah, I highly doubt when it is all said and done, very many people would trade Trent's career for Alan's career.

With that being said, who knows if Trent comes around next year or has the same year as this year. Also, Alan could easily be a 15 point a game scorer as a junior and senior, and possibly have good success in the tourney, making it a difficult argument.

Trent isn’t better than AG. Just stop. He might be a better fit for what we are trying to do, but he isn’t better.

It is like he made every 3, he had a couple of good games but I can remember him throwing up some air balls as well. I think we can do better.

I agree, I would not trade for anything. Trent in the end will be remembered for his love of playing, his steadying play, and his love and commitment to to the ILLINI family/program. I will take Trent 10 outta 10 over AG. No slight to AG, he will do well in life either way and at Cuse...just think TF is more valuable to us overall in all respects.

Mr. Pence, are you really AGs Mom? Don't get me wrong, I am an AG fan, but better than Trent?

He may be more valuable in this laundry list of intangibles but one place he wasn't more valuable than AG last season was on the floor. There's no tangible metric you can use to say Trent was better. It's not even really close.

Amazing after all the heart and soul that Trent has poured into this team for 3 seasons that AG could be considered 'better' by anyone that isn't trolling.
It ain't personal, it's basketball. If you're brave enough to take a look at Trent's numbers from last year it's pretty glaring. Somebody texted me his bball-ref page from last week and I think I physically recoiled.

No doubt that Miller and Curbelo will be big for us next year. But we also have Grandison and Hutcherson who are juniors. They will be replacing AG.
That's a lot of unknowns to bet on, including a freshman who's about 170 lbs soaking wet. I think it's very fair to expect some growing pains early on.

I pulled up stats to defend Trent and ended up thinking “whoa, maybe AG is better” at least based off 19-20.
Trent has a lower FG% and lower 3pt% than Damonte in conference (both awful)

Can't be stated enough how vital Trent has been to this rebuild.

He is sometimes the forgotten piece, but if you go back and watch the film you will see just how many game-winning plays this kid makes.

One of the most unselfish kids I have ever met. Having a huge freshmen year then being told you aren't the go-to guy anymore, most kids would have transferred...

Ms. Griffin?!?

If....and I over emphasize "if"....this was actually the case....there is zero chance that AG isn't starting every game...and there is zero chance he leaves the program.

Trent's defense is literally light years better than AG. Tangible. When Trent was moved to PG after the first part of the season....our entire season flipped script.
Zero turnovers in a game is tangible.

If you are only looking at shooting % and rebounds.....Trent isn't going to stand out this year because of his move to primary PG. Literally every other thing Trent did on the floor was better. Significantly better.

If what you are suggesting is actually true...then you are really saying that putting AG at PG this year would have resulted in a better outcome.

Welcome to Loyalty AG's mom!

He's also the perfect brand ambassador.
