Curbelo would be undersized for the NBA, but that's not the thing holding him back. He needs to be a much better shooter to have a chance at the league. If he gets comfortable from the arc, then I'd say watch out.

I know this is all hypothetical but this is why guys transfer. No way Damonte, Grandison, and Hawkins would project to play that far down the bench and stick around.
I’m using this to segue to theme of guys transferring, and imo it would be totally reasonable for a guy Grandison who sat out a year, learned the system, started the season off the bench, and earned a starting role on the #2 ranked team in the country to expect to keep that starting role penciled in for next year.
Personally, I don’t think that a ‘better’ player being available and willing to join the team is enough reason to supplant some of these guys. I am not suggesting that’s what’s happening, just using the hypothetical to illustrate my opinion on the matter.
I do think that in this transfer era coaches at some point need to tell their players, the ones who earned it, “you’re my guy next year, we’re going to rely on you, and you need to work hard because it’s your turn, you earned it”.

I agree, and particularly off the dribble since he will have the ball in his hands as a pg. He needs to be able to pull off screens when his defender goes under or gets caught up.

Tiny could go anywhere, was a great distributor, and an excellent shooter. Fully expect big strides in Papi's outside shot, but Archibald-level is a bridge too far, short term. Good comp though.

With Kofi and Mitchell, 100% yes. Perhaps take a small step back defensively though.
I wonder what those end of year conversations sound like. I like your game but.... there are 3 transfers available that do what you do, but they’re more experienced and stronger. Back in the good old days, I looked forward to watching the players improve .
I like our chances much better since we are replacing AM for TF! Now if we get AM back and either he or Hutch need to come off the bench....dang!
No, I don’t think that’s what I said or at least intended to. The players know the freshman are coming in every year. I think if a veteran loses his job to better freshman than that’s just the best players playing.
I personally see transfers as a different scenario, and I’m not against transfers in general. But I do think that can damage morale and team culture if a coach recruits a transfer over an established player who has earned their role. Why spend 2 or three years improving, working for your chance, just to be dropped back onto the bench by a transfer?
Same scenario applies to hiring/promoting within an office environment.
Heading into this off-season I’d expect Grandison not to be recruited over a transfer. He was...

It’s just that his Usage rating was tied for 7th with Hawkins. What more do you want from the guy in this hypothetical scenario? It’s just my opinion a guy in his position has earned the right to go through the off-season expecting to continue starting and not worrying if someone’s going to transfer in and take his spot.
Edit: for the record I would not see Tre Mitchell as being recruited over him - different positions as Grandison was a guard originally playing as a forward.
