If we sign a good 4, I think Payne can play the 5 and we will be fine. If we have a massive hole at the 4, Payne will not be a big enough presence like Kofi was to cover it up.I do find it interesting that, with the exception of AP, who specifically said he was recruited to fill Giorgi’s spot, that we haven’t seriously pursued any other 5 in the transfer portal. And with Hamlin’s departure, our only bigs are Payne, Lieb, BBV, and Hawkins, none of whom are proven P5 Bigs. Unless Hawkins is secretly working with Kevin McHale while also on the Mike Tisdale diet, the lack of recruitment of an additional big is quite the tea leaf in forecasting whether Kofi comes back IMO.
I don’t know what color my gown was. Gray, I think. All the photos we have are b&w, which is some clue to how old I am.Makes sense. Mine was just the blue gown, in 2001, but there were much more academically distinguished graduates that had various sashes/cords.
Lol, I remember not even being on the list of graduates in the program guide. My parents weren't entirely convinced that I had actually graduated until the actual diplomas were mailed out several weeks later.
Hoping Payne, Hawk, and BBV can cover it as a rotation but we certainly don’t have any proof at this point. Tre Mitchell would be a huge plus.If we sign a good 4, I think Payne can play the 5 and we will be fine. Payne is proven at this level. As a 35 minute starter? No, not yet. But he has proven he can play 20 min/game as an underclassmen and we can expect improvement from there.I do find it interesting that, with the exception of AP, who specifically said he was recruited to fill Giorgi’s spot, that we haven’t seriously pursued any other 5 in the transfer portal. this appears to be a ship sailing away
Good for Kofi. Certainly not a dagger to the heart of our 2021-2022 season, but having Kofi would make for a more ideal 2021-2022 season. He has gotten some positive feedback. Everyone wanted him back, but this gives us time to find some bigs now. Better he lets us know now than in two months.
All the best to Kofi. Definitely did us a solid by making his decision early.Zagsblog with an announcement that Kofi will stay in the NBA draft.

I really thought that was a joke at first. Not sure if this has been reported but JCL to Kansas.
He may have earned a Master’s degree while playing on the team all along.Dr. Coleman-Lands, your table is ready.
I find it just CRAZY that this will be his 6th season playing. Is that a new NCAA record? Seriously. Normal rules had 4 to play in 5, now with COVID, it's 5 to play in 6. But how does he have 6 seasons of stats after 2021-2022?!?

That article doesn't make much sense to me, they used a quote from April when he declared. Doesn't seem like there is any new information to suggest he will sign an agent or return to college. It even mentions he has another 2 months to decide.Zagsblog with an announcement that Kofi will stay in the NBA draft.

The 2005 NBA draft was likely the last time we had multiple players selected. Deron to the Jazz and Luther to the Rockets. As others have said, Kofi staying in is a pretty positive sign that he has feedback that someone or multiple teams are pretty interested in his potential. Never a bad thing to have multiple people drafted.
