So, unless Altmyer is Joe Montana, we basically saw what our Offense is going to be next year and I'm... not encouraged. I really, really wanted Lunney to prove me wrong all year and he didn't. He's either WAY too conservative, or we don't have the athletes to run what he wants to run, which isn't going to be solved next year. This offense without a Heisman candidate is... poop.
I'm sure we'll see zero improvement in personnel and scheme between now and next season.

I think our OL will be even better next year with new payers coming in, we have plenty of good WR's. I worry about RB and wonder if we need to get another one in the portal. Altmyer is the biggest piece to the puzzle. If he comes in and plays at a high level, then 8-9 wins is very possible. On defense it all depends on Randolph and Newton. If they are back, our defense will be really good again, The only question will be the secondary.

Hey, I would LOVE to be wrong and eat some crow here. Someone please convince me we'll have better offense next year, I'm open to any and all arguments.
Our WR corps is going to be really good if Elzy commits to us. The way the defense played today they look like they will be good again next year. The question mark will be the OL again. We will have some freshman on the line next year so we may need to add some more from the portal but I’m confident BB will find some players.

Elzy would be a big improvement, that's for sure. And the other guy they're switching from DB is a burner, which we really lack. My concern with the playcalling is does Lunney really have full control, or does BB want him to play it safe? Also, how much of our Run/Pass split was based on Brown being so good. With TVD completing nearly 70% of his throws I wish we would have thrown more on first down. So without a bellcow back will we see a little more creativity?
Were we missing anyone on the O-Line today? Or was MSU just that much better? I'd have to think Michigan's D-Line was better and maybe they just, collectively, had an off day? Really hoping some of these transfers can slide right in and bolster that unit.
I'm definitely over-reacting to one game, but I have been less impressed with Lunney than most have this year. Is he better than we've had here in ages? Definitely, no doubt there. But does he rank as above average for today's game? I'm still very skeptical. Hopefully when we start to get the players in here that he wants we can really find out.

Which freshmen are you expecting to be playing in the line next year? We will have at least one, maybe two transfers who will be new, but they’re not freshmen. Am I overlooking someone?

I got the game tuned in late. Seemed like Slaughter played more than I remember seeing previously. He got beat several times and had at least one hold. Was someone out?

We have 1 receiver that can get open consistently against top level teams (Williams) The other 3 (Bryant, Washington, Hightower) are decent but not scary to opposing coordinators. A downfield guy with major talent changes this offense. Hopefully he is coming. I have a bad feeling Hightower may not be in the equation anymore.

You gotta be able to run it. We had no run game today. 23 yards or whatever it was does not cut it.

We have a very favorable schedule where all of our games are winnable (no wins are guaranteed) but no scUM or tOSU.

Where will the experts ranks us pre-season West?

I think we’ll be above Minnesota, Purdue, NW and maybe Iowa. So Illini, Wisky and NU as the top three teams?
Not sure, but I know preseason predictions didn't have a whole lot of weight after the country's top 20 prior to the portal. At this point, their value is even lower. I think it's a total crap shoot in the West right now. I don't think there's an order of finish that would shock me. (NW in first would be close)

@illini0440 @Indy Illini Fan

Sitkowski is joining the staff as a student assistant. Any internal guys getting a bump up? I know Preston Gordon moved around and helped with the transition of coaches. Also pass a message along to change his twitter from Champagne to Champaign :LOL:

We need a Brandon Lloyd. Some height mixed with speed down field.
