how about over some of the mid-majors CFB that we've been losing recruits to recently?

This lol. Need to accept reality we are literally one of the worst D1 schools in the country at this moment. I'm blown away we are getting a real coach.

I still haven't seen anything solid on Lovie Smith, some article mentioned that JW press conference mentioned, "Row The Boat?" Super secret P.J. Fleck deal going down????

Oh yea...don't get me wrong. I agree that we would be getting some better players and we would improve as a program. (Not very hard to improve from where we started though). However, people are talking about how Illinois will start landing 5 star players very easily. I don't think that will be the case.

He might not be getting 5 stars right off the bat, but every player and coach in Illinois will now listen. We have to start locking up our state and Lovie grabs that attention.

he would be walking into houses recruiting players in Chicago that grew up idolizing him. you can't overstate how much that means

If this is true it could really generate some buzz about the University in Chicagoland. Unfortunately I don't think Chicagoland is stocked in football high-ranking talent.

Regardless, will be very exciting.

Holy crap. If it ends up being something like Lovie plus Frazier or Singletary at DC, we're about to have immediate access to a nationwide recruiting base and a whole lot of 5-star living rooms. The college game is largely about out-talenting your opponents; this hire (if it's true) will open the recruiting floodgates. Believe it.
