This was the scene at the Union, per the Illini Football twitter account.

This issue with listening to the Score for this presser...

B&B will be speaking over the feed constantly. It's their thing to do during every presser that happens while they're on the air. I just want everyone here to understand that going into it, if you choose to listen to the presser on the Score.

Varies depending on the presser, I wouldn't expect it today...but definitely a possibility.

What is fantastic about that pic? Staff and students all excited about this hire. It is a universal positive movement for Illini football for once.

The comparison to Trump comes from the fact that Trump tells a upset and angry population that we are going to return to being the greatest at everything. JFW comes out and tells a very upset and angry fan base that we are going to win.

Compare AND contrast. Whitman has shown he can do what he's promised.

Gun to my head, I might take a couple of those guys. Especially in a world where they could be here in December 2015 and recruit the incoming class.

But honestly, we should look at this based on where we were on March 4th, not November 4th. It's arguably a big upgrade over the possibilities at the end of last season. It's a damn miracle based on where we were a week ago.

What wins it for me is that Lovie brings a laughing stock program instant credibility. Some of those other guys are really good coaches, but none of them have the Rock Star vibe of Lovie. Which is truly ironic with Lovie's demure personality.

The whole Beckman fiasco took us to a place I never thought we would recover from

Excellent read from Will Leitch.

Many of you were probably at the CU game in 1990. One of the best game experiences ever (perhaps only topped by a couple Michigan games).

Boy that was good. Took a little while to read. I had to keep wiping my eyes.

I just want everyone tuning into the Score to expect it. I don't want to read about B&B bs during and after the presser about how they spoke over the feed. They do it and they do it fairly often, just understand that going into it. They aren't doing it just to the Illini, they do it to other pressers too.

Update: #illini have sold 500 season tickets today and it's "growing fast" according to @B1GTicket

I was part of the 500 :)...First time football season ticket holder, I usually only do basketball.

The best quote from his article
But this is undeniably the best thing to happen in Illinois sports in almost a decade, if just because it is not demonstratively a disaster.

He also knows less about sports than a well-filled sack of doorknobs, so I'd say take his praise with a grain of salt.

Wait, Preacher Haugh played safety at Ball State, in case you haven't read that the 50 times he's written it. So he must know everything about FB, right?

Actually I appreciate his outlook on the LovieLovie hire. Greenstein is a joke; really liked his ripping Whitman for not telling the players of the Cubit firing, even though Josh fully explained that in the pressed.

Agreed. They usually talk over pressers that are actually full of BS, like half the Bears pressers where John Fox gives us nothing.

Yeah the giggling schoolboy routine by these two jackasses. I'll pass and listen to it after Dan posts. Thanks Dan.

That's like careening through an intersection with several near-misses, having the two cop cars who turn to pursue you crash into each other, and then saying "I told you running that red light was a sound plan!"
Well it worked didn't it

Haugh had very nice things to say about the Lovie hire. He also knows less about sports than a well-filled sack of doorknobs, so I'd say take his praise with a grain of salt.

Not disagreeing. Just saying he was not in line with predictably negative response from some quarters.

exquisite! Nicely done Will.

He captures the pure essence of what most/all of us are feeling.

bought 8,9,10,11 in sec108 row20.. med school out of state one more year so won't be able to use them next year but it actually feels like a decent investment at 150$/each

Is BTN going to carry the press conference?

Never mind. I just turned it on and they are.

Admittedly with the benefit of hindsight, I couldn't disagree more. I think the Cubit contract was a well thought out decision to buy up to two years of time. I also think the Whitman hire was well planned and well executed. It was fortunate that Smith was available. But then, good luck seems to happen to smart hard working people.

I renewed last week and feel my faith was rewarded in a big way. I did move from 108 to 107 to save some money, but I'll be donating what I saved to the I Fund now.

I made the decision to renew last week. Didn't actually do it until today. Should be a fun year even with some lumps along the way.
