In this world of $NIL, transfer portal and sitting out for NFL Luke choosing to play in this Bowl Game shows great love for program and school.

This will make him my favorite Illini player of all time.

Too lazy to read the earlier posts, but does anyone think Luke will get a sniff of NFL. Would love to see that happen for him, class act person and true professional at his craft

Probably a Day 3 guy, somewhere between 5th-7th round. He's probably more of a Cooper Rush or Gardner Minshew type at the NFL level. His slight build is one of the biggest concerns that NFL teams will have.

I don't much follow pro football because it sucks. But could Luke turn out to be Tom Brady-ish. What i mean is lower draft pick but have a great career. He seems to have all the physical tools with a high football IQ

He strikes me more as a guy that could well catch on as a backup & maybe stay in the league for a while. Trying to be objective he is a good QB but not an elite arm talent guy. He reminds me a lot of Kurt Kittner. Not the most talented but the combination of talent, mobility, work ethic & leadership turned both of them into real good college quarterbacks.

Those intangibles matter in the NFL, but the elite arm talent is the real difference maker. In college a guy might be wide open if he's open by 3 yards. In the NFL if a guy is open by a yard he is considered open & you have to make that throw basically in your sleep. I love Luke but don't know if he has the arm strength for the next level. Would love to be proven wrong & I know he'll put in the work. He is good enough to be a backup that could come in & manage a game, make a few plays with his feet & keep a team afloat while the starter is out.

Luke Altmyer is my favorite Illini football player of all-time. It isn't close. I can't wait to see how many Luke autographs I accumulate over the years. 😁
I have exactly one graded card in my budding card collection and it is an autographed Altmyer card. It is really cool that these guys can sign cards while in college now

Tommy DeVito: 6'2" / 210bs. 🤌
Luke: 6'2" / 215lbs. 🫶

You're not wrong, just sayin' I think Luke could do something... provided he has as good an agent lolol.
