Maryland 81, Illinois 65 Postgame

Curbelo really needs to be able to hit the three, the midrange jump shot just isn’t working. It’s a bad shot in college unless you shoot it like Derozan.
Not at all a bad shot to take when you just need a basket. Unfortunately, Belo needs to make them. He still tends to want to take over games and force things.

1.) Omar still leaves his feet way too much. Pick your battles, man. You’ve gotta just wall-up sometimes, dude.

2.) I saw the strangest thing on transition D I ever saw tonight. Frazier put up a 23-footer from the top of the key…
zero of our guys crashed the boards (not ideal but sometimes that happens) The bizarre thing is we immediately had four guys well past half-court line to defend the Terps coming at us…but we stayed WAY WIDE and just kinda hung out at the hash marks like we had all day…Then when they came dribbling up and we seemingly parted like the Red Sea…it was bizarre. It should have never been a numbers advantage… but dadgum if they didn’t nearly turn it into one. We had one guy in the paint. Our defense is supposed to be pack line principled…well that ain’t it.

3.) This lose isn’t the end of the world…(like others have said)

I don't like monte's offense. And maybe im debating for the sake of debating. But frazier plummer and grandy (usually Kofi as well) are the "scorers". When Illinois isn't scoring why is it his fault and nobody else's? He is a defense, rebound, hustle, glue guy. So why does he get crucified when an aspect outside of his skillset is lacking? This stems from past boards as well....didn't really love his d tonight.
What is a “glue guy”? I never understood the term.

I feel bad for RJ. He came strictly because of OA and then OA up and leaves. He clearly has the highest upside of the 3 freshman.
After tonight’s defensive “performance” the “RJ doesn’t have it together on the defensive end” argument is crap. He’s a gifted offensive player and we needed something down the stretch that the rotation wasn’t/couldn’t give us.

Did not read all the posts a on the board but had to say this performance sucked. Certainly Kofi would have made a difference but BU has to show he can coach when things aren't perfect. What was the game plan? We seemed to play without any direction. Maybe it's just me but I was totally disgusted with this performance.

Scottsdale
BU, good info on Belo and why he played less minutes than I expected.

Was there a post game press conference that I missed from BU?

#84 in Kenpom after this win. #91 in Torvik. They are bad bad bad.
Not when we don't have a way to stop Scott. He killed us both games. We don't have a player on our roster over 6'4" that can face up and get their own shot like he can against us. We have some guys that handle the ball well that have some height but not like Scott can and with his frame. He is a tough guard for our guys. He killed us in both games. Gotta give him credit. He is a good player and they fed him in the second half

Yeah, Scott is a match up nightmare. I realize they don’t grow on trees but would love to recruit a player of his mold.

If he leaves after this year, I'm going to be bummed. He has Kendrick Knunn vibes to me. Plays within himself and plays hard. So much potential.
If he had the body like Nunn or even Goode I think he would play more. Maryland has some strong grown men that caused problems for us in both games. Especially tonight. I think he will get there are n time.

Probably won’t be detrimental to our NCAA seed since it’s on the road and they’ll consider the injury, but … could REALLY bite us in our quest for a Big Ten title. This is a game we should have won even without Kofi. Praying for his return on Tuesday.
Do they still look at that...gonna be another bad quad loss at best
