For 3.75 Mil, let’s hope they priced in a separate shed for lawn equipment… 😁

You don’t get that much for a measly $4M these days do you.
True you don't. But that's a lot of steel under the upper deck to sand blast and repaint. Of course, the University pays top dollar to high dollar contractors so there's a lot of fluff in that amount. I could find some local yahoos to do this work for under $2M but I won't guarantee their work :) beyond looking good for the Michigan game.

Fix the Horseshoe! It shouldn’t be the last priority!!

😉
You're not going to be able to do anything meaningful with that $3.75M for the south end zone. This is just removing and eyesore with fresh paint and redoing the expansion joint compound. I'm sure they'll use some boring !!! paint color but I'd kinda like to see something vibrant, maybe a nice Illini orange color paint :)

Has everyone looked at the steel structure under the East side balcony? It's brutal. It's do for a refresh.

Would be nice to see an image or two.

They've chosen the contractor before the project has been approved? Has it already been bid?

often times these union projects have very few companies that even qualify to bid . it’s a small project - not sure what the process is for getting contracts approved for that size .

everything done there at that level does not necessarily need to “ go out for bid “ - it’s not like a $200 million remodeling project

Wife and I play the lottery whenever it exceeds 500 mil. Our plan is $200 mil. for St. Judes, $200 mil to fix the south end zone and $100 mil. for family and friends.

Best friend jokes aside, my thinking for some crazy windfall has always been similar. Chunk to charity, chunk to UI, rest for family / friends. Your non-family chunks are probably bigger than mine, and I'd probably spread the charity out a bit, start a foundation type of thing. And a third or more to Washington and Springfield unfortunately.

It looked like a war zone under there this year. Necessary project, hopefully the grander proposals will get addressed soon.

This seems like a good price for the bill of work. Do it. These maintenance projects have a way of escalating if you don’t do them. Do it. AND fix the Horseshoe.

Signed: a horseshoe regular
(I have only observed games through the horseshoe for last 4 coaches. It’s been a while. Before I was living the life of luxury in the west stands. I was there the day we flopped against northwestern and the construction crew rolled in as the team left the field and started working the west side for the expanded press box.)

Horse shoe and east side fixes are coming next, but I think the price tag is going to be close to $300M, or more at this point, so who knows how long it's going to take to get that kind of $$ committed.
