For 3.75 Mil, let’s hope they priced in a separate shed for lawn equipment…
You don’t get that much for a measly $4M these days do you.
True you don't. But that's a lot of steel under the upper deck to sand blast and repaint. Of course, the University pays top dollar to high dollar contractors so there's a lot of fluff in that amount. I could find some local yahoos to do this work for under $2M but I won't guarantee their work beyond looking good for the Michigan game. You don’t get that much for a measly $4M these days do you.
You're not going to be able to do anything meaningful with that $3.75M for the south end zone. This is just removing and eyesore with fresh paint and redoing the expansion joint compound. I'm sure they'll use some boring !!! paint color but I'd kinda like to see something vibrant, maybe a nice Illini orange color paintFix the Horseshoe! It shouldn’t be the last priority!!

Has everyone looked at the steel structure under the East side balcony? It's brutal. It's do for a refresh.
Would be nice to see an image or two.
I’m guessing you need to hear bids so you know how much to ask for? They've chosen the contractor before the project has been approved? Has it already been bid?
Wife and I play the lottery whenever it exceeds 500 mil. Our plan is $200 mil. for St. Judes, $200 mil to fix the south end zone and $100 mil. for family and friends.often times these union projects have very few companies that even qualify to bid . it’s a small project - not sure what the process is for getting contracts approved for that size .
everything done there at that level does not necessarily need to “ go out for bid “ - it’s not like a $200 million remodeling project
You count all of us here on Loyalty as your friends, right?Wife and I play the lottery whenever it exceeds 500 mil. Our plan is $200 mil. for St. Judes, $200 mil to fix the south end zone and $100 mil. for family and friends.

Best friend jokes aside, my thinking for some crazy windfall has always been similar. Chunk to charity, chunk to UI, rest for family / friends. Your non-family chunks are probably bigger than mine, and I'd probably spread the charity out a bit, start a foundation type of thing. And a third or more to Washington and Springfield unfortunately.Wife and I play the lottery whenever it exceeds 500 mil. "The Illiniguy74 Memorial Horseshoe"? We could live with that.Wife and I play the lottery whenever it exceeds 500 mil. Our plan is $200 mil. for St. Judes, $200 mil to fix the south end zone and $100 mil. for family and friends.
Oh yeah. Guess my plan needs a little tweaking. You forgot someone, Uncle Sam!
Paint the underside and the backface front wall of the upper bleachers navy blue and all of the angle iron/girders orange (or vice versa). Would look way cool.
