Michael Porter Jr. to have back surgery, likely out for rest of season

According to one guys source. Porter is out for the season.

I wouldn't play in college again if I were him. I doubt he could help his draft stock much by playing a year, and if he re-injures his back in college, it's a complete bust. He looks like a man among boys already, and should be a lottery pick if he can practice prior to the draft.

Missouri just got a ton weaker. That kid was unreal.

Yeah just saw this.

Totally don't know if I should feel sorry or what based on the aura surrounding that whole program.

Ummm, why would you feel sorry for that program?

I don't wish injury on anyone, so it is unfortunate for Porter, but the program? Fuh get about it :thumb:

This. Almost no chance he ever plays a game of college ball.

It's a double-edged sword. If he comes back, he'll risk injury, if he doesn't, it means that the injury is quite serious and will definitely affect his draft stock. Independent of the rivalry, it is a tough situation for the kid, but there is only so much a body can take.

Someone on here just yesterday was saying they bet its more serious than they are letting on because they've been so hush hush. 10 internet points to you for that call.

Feel bad for the kid. Missouri can suck it.

Stl today just released an article that Porter will be undergoing back surgery. L3-L4 microdiscectomy in Dallas today. Sucks for him.

Pretty crappy for Mizzou. He should get a redshirt though and still have 4 years after this. But it's never good when the #1 or #2 player goes down.

That said.... it should be a good braggin' rights game now.

He will enter the draft. Highly doubt he plays another game in a Missouri uniform.

Being from Seattle I watched this up close from the UW Huskies side of things. Porter leaving was considered a disaster. Now looks like maybe UW (Washington) dodged a bullet.

Never good to see a player get injured, and I sure hope his professional career is not derailed in the slightest by this.

That said...couldn't happened to a more deserving school :)

Looks like he won't ever play a game for Mizzou. I hope he makes a full recovery but would love for this to result is a huge loss of momentum for them

Shame this kid will never play in college (other than those two mins). I hate the one-and-done rule, but it is fun to see these incredible talents in our game. He would have been the most talented player to play in the Braggin' Rights game since.....? Deron?

The even funnier part is does this now elevate Tilmons contributions or the younger brothers and one of them leaves after this year too?

Never want to see a guy get hurt, but when you recruit as skeazy as Cuonzo did, can't help but smile a bit. Especially when your boss is a missou fan.
