Hoiberg said in a article on ESPN they are going to try and play all makeup games. He said 15 games in 32 or 33 days is what it would be for them.
They're going to go over film on their off days and either not rest or not practice aside from playing games? That is nutso.

Got to imagine the B10 is going to prioritize making up the marquee matchups (like Illinois @ UMich), if some games need to be jettisoned along the way. Need to play those games because they will have such a huge potential impact on who gets to raise a banner at the end of the year.

Seriously. In a normal year, with fans, I think the conference tournament is one of the most underrated parts of the season, and I actually get a little annoyed with older fans talking about how they hate how it was added. I attended it for the first time two years ago at the United Center when we got absolutely shellacked by Iowa, and in SPITE of that I had an absolutely amazing time. The atmosphere and setup completely exceeded my expectations, and I have heard Indianapolis does it even better. As an Illini fan AND Chicagoan, I always want it here for the homecourt advantage, but my sister lives in Indianapolis and their downtown setup is truly remarkable for a thing like this.
How old do you have to be to be older? Asking for a friend.

Agree the tourney is great.

At this point maybe cancel the conference tournament and use that week to make up some of these games? 🤷‍♂️
They should do this- what is the point of having a conference tourney with no fans and bringing all the teams under one roof to get exposed to each other- could be a disaster for NCAA tourney

Might be a shame for teams hoping to “play themselves in” but in reality this rarely matters to NCAA selection and when was the last time a Team won the BTT that wouldn’t have gotten in anyway?

I do really hope we play UM that is more important to us than the BTT

Never?! Though we came close in 2008 as a 10 seed. My wife and I hopped in the car after our semi-final win and drove 10 hours overnight to see the beloved in the final. Unfortunately the team looked like they had about as much sleep as we did. Made for some good memories though. :)

Speaking of scUM, the clip with the draft analyst showing Franz wagner at # 20 and Ayo at 45 still has me confused...
I think Wagner and trace JDavis are 2 of the most overrated players in the country...Wagner is playing better this year , but, 25 slots higher than Ayo ?
And even though he had a double double against us TJD misses more close in shots than any other interior player that I can remember....JMHO
If you only watch TJD against Illinois, it is tough to see why people think he is good. He has had 5 games this year where he shot under 50%. 2 of them were against the Illini. He is averaging over 52% from the field this season. Only 29% against the Illini.

I have seen a couple of his games where he looked unstoppable. He has a plethora of low post moves, and is much quicker than most guys his size. 15 years ago he could have been a lottery pick. (Sort of like Kofi) The NBA doesn't play much through the post these days. I haven't seen TJD listed very high on prospective draft boards.

Wagner, on the other hand, has size, mobility, and shooting range. He is only 19, but improving rapidly. NBA scouts are trying just as hard to guess how good you will be in 3 years as they are to figure out how good you are now.

Ayo is one of those guys who is good at a lot of things, but has a limited ceiling in the NBA, as he won't likely be elite at anything. I think most see him as a high character role player in the NBA, which is why he won't likely be drafted until at least the 20's. Teams that are already good will look at bringing him in. Teams that aren't competitive, and picking in the lottery positions, will be looking for upside. That said, there is nothing wrong with being a role player in the NBA. The other name for NBA role player is multi-millionaire.

With that said, if there aren't going to be fans and you have games to make up ... why not? There might be a team or two that suffers who could have made a run and snuck into the NCAAs with the auto bid (MSU?) or gotten just enough work in to squeeze in as an at-large (IU?), but giving up that chance would be better for the conference than an Illinois, Iowa, Ohio State, Wisconsin, etc. catching COVID and having their NCAA runs in jeopardy.

Honestly, what we SHOULD do is just move absolutely everything back until conferences can get their full schedules made up AND play their conference tournaments, perhaps having April and May Madness. I know that won't happen for TV reasons, but it's a shame. Knock on wood and all, but I don't think COVID is going to get markedly worse (an opinion deeply held and shared by my COVID nurse girlfriend and roommate) as people continue to get vaccinated, and from a completely logical perspective it is a no-brainer. Money talks, though.
I agree, I like the Tournament. Of course the only one I attended was in '05...kinda spoiled.

I hope Cubes is in on him! I'd love to see him with the Mavs!

Unfortunately for Kofi, TJD's outside game translates to the NBA. Granted he did airball one yesterday but he's proven he can hit that shot at the free throw line extended.
You're right, he does have an outside shot , but I'm talking about 5-6 ft and closer to the rim....All of the games I have watched him play, he misses at least half of those shots, sometimes not even drawing iron.....I doubt he gets drafted...probably a G-league candidate or overseas.....

Good post...As far as Wagner, true he is a lot better this year, imho...I actually watched some of the scUM games this year and thought he has improved his play.....But one game stood out to me, don't remember which game, but he shot an airball and his jaw was dragging on the court, stomping around and Howard had to calm him down ...granted, at 19, your emotions are in need of calmness, but my point still is, imho, wagner is NOT 25 slots higher than Ayo....
maybe thats why I'm not an NBA scout, GM or owner......

I can’t find any confirmation of this. Not doubting, just looking for an explanation. The 14 days is over Sunday so why the game on Thursday is cancelled needs to be explained.

Iowa is playing an NBA schedule this week with games on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. No reason we(or any other team) can't do the same.

The MVC are playing games back to back. ISU played Drake on Saturday, then again on Sunday. A few conferences are going that route. No reason we can't do that either.

It can be done, it should be done and I hope they follow through with getting all the games in.

Michigan frustrates me. Don't get me wrong, I'm all about safety. However, did they even have a positive case or were they concerned about another strain of the virus? Just seems odd that if(when) we beat Wisconsin, they'll be postponing the a game that puts them in peril of losing a chokehold on the conference. They're two games up in the loss column and only have one loss in conference. They can't be caught if they don't play.

They pulled this against Ohio State in football. Not a fan.

If Izzo would be willing to do a Tuesday-Thursday-Saturday, we could substitute one road game in the state of Michigan with the other.

You should watch the University of Illinois Men’s Basketball team.

haha but I agree. This is shaping up to be a pretty weak draft class in terms of impact NBA players from the B1G
A huge testament to the depth of coaching quality in this league, given the level of success the B1G has had this year.
