MSU played great and had a great gameplan. They would have beaten most everyone tonight. That said, we really need to fix some things and make some changes and we're just not doing it. Our second half performances are very telling that we just are not making the necessary adjustments. And our rotations are killing us. Lost to a better team than us and unfortunately there's becoming a lot of those lately.

Plain and simple, we missed on several transfers this year and our coaching just hasn't been able to get our team where it needs to be. At this point, goal needs to be to get some continuity going to next year, and coaching the kids emwho are going to be part of that up the best we can. We'll make the tourney this year, but us winning 2 in a row will be a challenge, let alone 6.
Not sure I agree here. MSU got in heavy foul trouble early in 2nd half and got down big early. If Illinois had an actual gameplan that was not dribble the ball on perimeter and launch 3 after 3, the Illini run away with the game easily. It seems that every team has the proper gameplan against Illinois, and that is a reflection of the Illini coaching staff. TSJ's performance last year is really the only reason the Illini made the E8. Brad has the team out of the bottom of the conference, but cracks in the foundation are really showing.

Can't have a top 10 paid coach having these types of games, especially given the level of talent and NIL money available.

Me too. Some guys are good at bringing an organization out of the depths and up to towards the mountain top, but cannot get to the top. Is that what we're seeing? I think so. It happens all the time in the NBA.

I’m worried we aren't going to recover from this one. The team looked so off. The energy was bad. The crowd was frustrated.

It’s obvious at this point that Brad values his ego more than a team, or a season. So no one is stepping in to help us. It will be like this every game on out for the rest of the season.
I thought for the first time in my life, I’d see an Illini crowd boo its team in person … and I’m somewhat ashamed to say I was made when we didn’t.

Tired. I don’t need this freaking stress. I am sick of this team. How how how can you brick every shot over last 7.5 minutes? Wtf are the “coaches” doing? End the game with 2 timeouts in your pocket. Great job.
I’d freaking chew into them and bench them all and play the next subs and let the starters sit and sit and sit into the next game to see what they do. No spark no desire to win. No passion and that ticks me off the most. Really miss Hawkins. Team goes 7 for 30ish 3 pointers? Yep, just like middle school game.
What are you telling the next line that you will never play in games even when the choking starters stink it up for half of a half with no changes. Boggles the mind. And then tell my assistants to go to the locker room with me and bench ourselves.
If they want to play street ball, this is what you get.

Humrichson (whatever his name is) backing down a guard into the paint.. stops? Only to take a turnaround fade-away? Riley jacking a 3 with 2 players in his grill. No movement. Jak is playing like he is still in the Euro league time zone.
And if I have to hear more about their NBA first round players ! I’d get benched for jacking 3s, bad passes, and turnovers yet D1 players can somehow get 0 points in half of a half. And the D… Disgusting.

Bravo.

Many others here know more basketball than me. I don't know which person is worse as a coach, Tyler U. or Hamer.

But after the Lovie fiasco with his son, Josh has to take a modicum of blame here. No offense, but Tyler should never been in this position.

I don’t want to hear about this team’s ceiling anymore. I want Brad to fix the damn floor…because its sinking into the basement.
Well when everyone is hurt or benched, you eventually run out of players I guess.

Brad is our guy, but he has probably elevated the Illinois brand higher than he can handle, but there is jackshit we can do about it now. I'll be tuning in Tuesday like the rest of you, because we are sick.

For my money, Chris Beard is the best in the business.
For Illinois, this would he my list:
Beard
Miller
Gates

But again, let's worry about it in April.

coach went from blaming "we arent whole" to now just outright blaming the players. No fire or accountability anymore.

MSU did what they do and did it well. We did not. Plus we have yet to figure out what we want to do and stick with it. Disheartening to lose to a team that you have way more talent than but MSU has been doing it all year. Not going to beat hardly anybody finishing the last 8+ minutes without scoring a point.

Insiders, what’s the vibe from OA and GA? When cameras pan by the bench, you have those two together and Hamer and Tyler together. Cameras caught a moment where OA was looking at Tyler and Hamer and looked clearly annoyed….or maybe my own frustration just projected that on him…
