we will respectfully disagree. I remember big ten championship wins along with big ten tournament wins. Those were definitely big game wins.

I thought a good night sleep would make me feel better about last nights game. I was wrong.

I watched BU’s post-game presser this morning, and the way he handled that last question really rubbed me the wrong way. For starters, he didn’t let her finish her question, then went on a rant about how what he does changes lives and what the reporters do is “crap.” It just seemed so disrespectful.

So I’m deliberately not diving headlong into dooming because of all the usual good reasons not to.

Just pondering if what we saw last night was more like Underwood’s Altamont concert, Underwood’s Challenger launch or Underwood’s 9-11.

This presser is the first time I've noticed nervousness in BU's voice and overall demeanor of his body language..........still a lot of the usual blah , blah , blah coach spin.........

Let's see if he plays Tre in the next game.......Let's see if DGL plays more than Ben................ The old adage of " the proof is in the pudding " scenario still stands and if he doesn't play Tre at all or DGL doesn't get more tick , then my support for BU RIGHT NOW goes on life support........I'm tired of " give all the credit in the world to ABC or XYZ " )..........

those answers are lame and an avoidance to what needs to be said ...............HONEST ANSWERS TO WHY WE ARE LOSING TO TEAMS IN THE MANNER WE ARE.......Also why we can't extend our big leads against non cupcake teams.................

I have so many questions on why we play so stupidly against inferior opponents.......

BTW , I feel so sorry that KJ had to endure the painful situation this presser put him in.......I really really really do.........

I now have an emptiness in my heart where joy and happiness once resided.................
I flipped over to the radio postgame with Barnhart & Deon…it was even worse. He sounded like he was having an existential crisis.

This loss is incredibly frustrating but the emotional swing of this board is just borderline bipolar. If we had beaten MSU tonight, people would’ve been over the moon and we would’ve celebrated the team beating 2 good teams in a row, including a top 15 ranked team, 3 wins in a row, and the fact that the team would get ranked again and appears to be on track to a good seeding come March.

If that were true, then losing to MSU should not spell the end of the world and trigger the meltdown we are witnessing right now. It’s undoubtedly disappointing but a lot of the reactions here are disproportional and simply unwarranted.

Brad needs to change a lot of things, including in this offseason. But it’s insane to be calling his hot seat right now and the take that Brad got lucky with Elite 8 last year cuz TSJ carried him is just pure revisionism. Did you all forget that Brad has been the winningest coach in BIG these past 5 seasons next to Painter? 5 whole seasons.
It’s how we lost, how the same problems keep popping up, and how our 10 men deep roster in preseason is somehow now down to 7 and has only one attack mode in crunch time.

Mr. Whitman, it is time for you to have a conversation about a number of things with the head Men's basketball coach.

Random thought: If Brad gets another job this year, I will be grateful he got us to good, happy that he is gone, and sure that Josh will hire the coach who gets us to great.

YMMV
Most people were happy when Bruce got fired. Would be a similar scenario. We saw how that went after he left

Luckily we have Josh now, but, still

Indy or anyone for that matter....is Beard/Miller an analytics coach? If so...hard pass. I don't ever want to see another Illinois men's basketball coach who falls for the stupid math of the game. How bout this...coach....adjust and play the best players...period! I don't care if it's the highest paid player on the team...probably would send a better msg....if they are not listening and/or performing, take them out. When the booster(s) you went to to get money for said player start to bit*h then MAN UP and admit YOU(BRAD) were wrong on your player evaluations. I swear it seems Brad's ego will not allow him to admit he was wrong. If I am the AD and my top ten paid coach says to me he just doesn't know why they kept shooting 3's, my response would be......that sounds like what a 350th highest paid coach would say...EXCUSES and I would make it clear to Brad he is the HEAD COACH...all excuses..ALL should stop with him period! I am so sick and tired of people thinking analytics are important in basketball.....for years it has been played by scouting and adjusting in game.....two things I don't feel Brad is good at nor capable of. He has two KIDS running the offense and defense that live by the stupid analytics. No place for them in basketball....to many variables. Honestly...besides a Pitcher/Catcher and hitter in baseball....I see no point in analytics. Don't give players more to think about on the floor than necessary, trust their experience and talent. A basketball player who "thinks" to much is hesitant and questions their abilities. Please PLEASE please no analytics driven coaches everrRRRR again! One time...just one time, I would love for the coach to hand out an old fashion scouting report and that's it. number 20 likes to go left(example) .......simple .... easy.... scouting. I want a team...a group of five guys, who don't get overwhelmed in analytics from a coach. That simply just play basketball like they have previously. Put down the calculators and paperwork and maybe use that time and energy working on out of bounds plays...or a zone defense...or a 3/4 press....something all these players have heard and are used to. Analytics are so SO over rated in basketball. Go ahead and just think of ANY ANY top winning coaches and now tell me how much they won because of analytics? Don't make a difficult sport harder by adding to much "thinking". Just my opinion and yes I realize that doesn't mean much lol

He's put a couple guys into the NBA and that's about to be a 3rd and maybe a 4th player now. Say what you will but he was responsible for elevating TSJ to another level compared to his Texas Tech 3 and D days. But, give coach Fletch credit for keeping him healthy because he was oft injured at Texas Tech.

With putting guys into the NBA, he's going to keep getting top talent. But, they need to retain talent too for some level of cohesion. Hopefully, Morez, Tomi, Boswell, Jake Davis stick around. I am concerned that DGL will leave after this latest fiasco. His mins are too up and down for someone of his caliber
Not saying Underwood didn't play any part in TSJ's improvement but I think the main factors were him getting Fletched (as you mentioned), his work ethic, and the rule change regarding blocks/charges.

Not sure what was worse, the last 8 minutes…the 45 minute wait for an Uber…realizing after said Uber ride that Papa Dells was closed.

Was at my first game in forever as the girlfriend surprised me with tickets that I don’t want to know what she paid for them (the ones where you sit down and the people next to you are like “who the F are you”).

The atmosphere when Morez made the second dunk in the first half was absolutely insane. The fact that we couldn’t ride that momentum and the game was even close at half time, I’m not sure if that’s a credit to MSU or an issue with us, but it felt like we should have been up by 10 at half.

Lots I’d love to post but I’ll settle on this. I’ve never seen the goaltending call get reversed and points taken off the board. In real-time time I didn’t think it was a goaltend either, but I wish I knew what happened to the ball after play was stopped. Did it fall into our hands for what would have been an easy bucket? I think only Izzo gets that call looked at way after the fact. It’s a dead ball. If you aren’t sure go look at it right then and call a jump ball if you messed up the call.
And it seemed like it was after two plays later when they actually called it. Or at least one.

LOL! I hope I am wrong about Morez, but I have a bad feeling.
Morez was rocking and was the first player subbed for last night. The camera zoomed in on Morez and his reaction was written all over his face. We all see it and the players feel it. Bad player management isn’t helping. Admitting it after the game multiple times this year. Wake the hell up during the game.

Now that the emotional responses are done.

Last night was lost from coaching rotational mistakes. All on Brad. Utter garbage.

Tre got into it with him one practice and his ego can't let it go. Most coaches would see it as fire and have a 1-1 conversation where they appreciate criticism and to simply not do it in front of others. No idea on DGL/Jake.

MSU was fresh in the final 10 and we weren't. Keeping up with the best transition team in the BIG10 on a 7 man rotation is horrible game plan.

Go back and watch the span. Jacking 3s is a sign of exhaustion because it's the easiest shot to get. You don't need to cut or bang with anyone. Ben, tomi, KJ and Will were all missing short. And everyone is coming off sickness and injury. Their conditioning isn't going to be where it should.

How our coaching staff doesn't see this in game blows my mind.
I totally agree. This makes sense for what we’re seeing on the court. And from an aspect of knowing Brad’s ego is his own worst enemy.

I wish Brad would/could be a bigger man and realize something needs to change and at least that pushback means the team cares and hasn’t given up (yet).

I got roasted by several posters several games ago after saying I'm done for the season watching this team unless they get into the NCAA tournament which I thought was 50:50 chance then. Glad I didn't watch this one either and avoided the aggravation doing so would have entailed.
Sounds like the terrible coaching, incredible streak of opponent players going off on a career night against us, insane turnovers etc are repeatable problems with this coaching regime. I'd settle for next year being a rebuilding year and not even making the tournament the first year of a new coaching staff if that's what it takes a new, after hiring a younger, dynamic upcomer head coach. Like a Todd Golden type.

To me this is more like 10 cents. ;)
