Am I the only one that doesn't get the hype over Nairns? He plays like a senior should but nothing all that special IMO.

Maybe he knits sweaters for his teammates and the coaching staff and that's why everyone's in love with him?

Overall, the announcers were horribly one sided. There was one incident where I thought they were especially off base and I hope it does not snowball. During one second half time out BU was really tearing into the team and the announcers chimed in that this approach only works when used sparingly. They seemed to be saying that BU out of touch with the modern, “enlightened” approach to coaching.

I was bothered by that as well. To emphasize their point (re. BU’s anger) they admitted they altered the tape to make it look longer than it actually was. It was ESPN, which sadly, is pretty typical.

We are at a disadvantage in terms of size against all BIG teams but MSU is ridiculous. Other than Black they have at least six guys better than any one else we have. Mostly a defensive problem but makes offense tougher also.

Huge class act on behalf of Underwood when TumTum came out of the game and Izzo acknowledged it back. Didn't BU actually call the timeout to allow that to happen??

The team never gave up, they just ran out of "ammo". Glad to see MSU losing the majority of their horsepower to the NBA next year -

Bridges - gone
Jackson - gone
Nairns - gone

That's 70 minutes of superior playing time Izzo has to find in his incoming class, 30 ppg, 14 rpg, and 7 apg. While they won't fall far, they won't resemble this juggernaut.

And maybe...Izzo - gone

I have so much faith in this Coach, everytime he speaks to the camera, he is a resounding ++++ for the players, the program, the hype, and the sincerity to everything he speaks too.

I am sure he is a handful for players, however I am also sure when it is all said and done, we all will see some tears shed from some of our players and BU!:chief:

Jordan, Smith and Lucas combined for 56 minutes last night and a grand total combined of 5 points. That won't get it done in the B1G.

The effort was there (Kudos BU!)! We had some of our weaknesses exposed and I hope we recruit/learn to overcome them. Lack of a shooter or 2, a serviceable big man to compliment, and B.B. IQ.....Glad to see the culture change and going to give BU a chance to address the issues.

tough to overcome a team with 2 lottery picks, not to mention 2 top 100 players on the bench, not to mention 2 former starters on the bench and to think if we hit just half the layups we missed it would have been a close ball game

This post gave me some serious deja vu to the early Groce years. Ew.

Nairns ok, since Winston has already taken the lead role; but Bridges & Jackson are very special players that I don't think any of there incoming freshman will be close to ready to replace. Unfortunately, they still have some very good players that are likely returning in Langford, Ward, & Winston, throw in McQuaid & Tillman along with a few freshman minutes and they will be more than fine.

More than fine, yes. A NC threat like they are this year, not so much.

Maybe Winston has a decent tournament run and throws his name in?

They can talk all they want about being a hard a**, but so is Frank Martin. After he lost in the tourney last year, he gave one of the most sincere, gracious, and humble interviews I have ever seen. Just because you are a hard a** does not mean you don't care and love your guys.

This post gave me some serious deja vu to the early Groce years. Ew.

Groce when he spoke was full of clichés and tongue in the cheek comments (literally) talk about annoying.

Underwood when he speaks first of all commends the guys, points to specific game details/plays/etc and takes the rightful blame in that "I" need to do a better job...

Groce and Underwood are polar opposites in more ways than one...Groce was so in over his head it was ridiculous and Underwood knows exactly what he wants this program to be.:chief:

The thing with any coach is, the stuff they say is going to sound 1000x better when they are winning. Groce's rhetoric was very likable in his first year, and slowly devolved to annoying and overused in his last year (similar to how his teams performance deteriorated along the same timeline.)

I do think Underwood is more blunt and direct with how he speaks about players, hes probably said more candid things about this team than JFG did his entire tenure here. If Underwood has a poor time here, I bet people will spinzone his words into something bad.

I think MSU fouled to stop the clock. I was proud how BU recognized Narin, but I was equally disappointed he didn't applaud for the other two seniors when they checked out. I'll probably get hammered for that but I don't see anything wrong with acknowledging those players.

Not hammering you, but I don't think it is necessary for a coach to applaud the other team's seniors. What he did was enough.

Weren't the other two seniors generally far down the end of the bench? Underwood may have a prior relationship with Nairn from camps or recruiting, but the other guys not so much. Either way, Underwood's actions meant far more to me than Izzo's bloodshot eyes.
