Michigan State 88, Illinois 80 Postgame

We have seen that out of Domask several times at the end of halves. He should not be handling the ball in that situation any more.
I agree 100%.

This may or may not be a popular take, but the lack of a true, two way PG is rearing it's head. We can't keep other guards out of the lane to break us down and we don't have a guy who can get into the lane and break the other team down. Other teams guards have their way with us. Buoy, Tominaga, the kid from Indiana....

Guys like Domask, Goode and frankly, Rodgers should not be handling the ball, but we have no other options.

We should almost lost in this exact same fashion vs Nebraska.

It's a roster hole. We are going to struggle against ANY team with a shifty guard.

The refing was horrible but our horrible calls were at a 3:1 clip. They called 3 bs and 1s in like a 2 min stretch against us. That’s hard to surmount.

Had some wide open threes but down the stretch we simply start chucking instead of shooting the ball.. Gotta make just one and we are good.

Poor shot selection, missed free throws, turnovers and lack of toughness down the stretch is what lost this game. MSU simply wanted it more and willed it. Illini lost their cool in a tight game. Goode was absolutely NO MATCH FOR HOGGARD!

It’s all the coaching to me.

We completely went away from what was working. Hawkins was picking them apart.

Shannon we froze out.

This team has too much talent to completely blow two big leads like they have the last two games.

Like someone else said, if Brad said we had our point guard in Ty, why the hell isn’t he playing when it matters the most?

This is on our guys. Way too many dumb plays. Right when we couldn't afford another mistake that was all we did. Terrible passes by everyone, mishandled balls, dumb fouls and missed shots when wide open. Not a recipe to win on the road at MSU. The refs were exceptionally bad missing many OB calls, goal tending calls, and calling ridiculous technicals while letting Izzo just go nuts on them. We could have won this game, but gotta do better at crunch time. Disappointed that no one was able to step up.

Some of the stuff down the stretch is on the coaching staff to me. We need to put our best team on the floor and Goode was bad today. If he’s not making 3s or free throws, Rodgers needs to be in the game for defense/rebounding at least

We very clearly have better options.
Definitely not Ty, definitely not Hawkins, definitely not Harmon, definitely not Guerrier, definitely not Goode.

That's not really TSJ's game and I feel like that would be asking a lot of him and taking something away from what makes him effective?

He can't both be leading the runout threatening to take the top off the defense AND be the guy collecting the ball, those are mutually exclusive.

Domask has played that role shockingly well all year. Not today.
