Does this mean we want Purdue to win today?
For me, i just changed from rooting for Wisconsin, to rooting for Purdue. The exposure of ESPN College Gameday would be absolutely huge for us. I think if we keep winning and Purdue keeps winning, Gameday will be here, since it sounds like they actually want to be here!! Illinois vs Purdue would basically be for the Big 10 West title. I also won't be heartbroken if Wisconsin wins, since it makes our path a bit easier.

To make things more complicated, and I know it's one game at a time but i'm just a longtime fan guzzling Orange Koolaid.....if we win out (including at Michigan) and beat OSU for the Big 10 title, is there any scenario where we would not be in the final 4 since we just beat 2 of the top 4 teams? Holy crap we control our own destiny and it's late October? I've been saying it for a while now, but why not us? If we can correct some redzone offensive issues and a couple of other minor things, the sky is the limit for our team. The stars have aligned with Devito, Chase, Defense looking ridiculously good, a kicker that looks like he just made his first peewee football kick and doesn't miss, etc.

Darn it why don't we play today!! I cant wait 7 more days!

As I have posted before concerning our schedule and Pu. We got the heavy part of the west game out of the way. PU has Wisconsin and Iowa left. We won the heavy favorites in the west finished with three victories.

I don't want this to offend anyone, but what would Lee Corso use for headgear? An inflatable Illini helmet? I think he did that once before. Lee Corso is old school, so I think it would be great if he pulled out the Chief headgear .....and the crowd would go wild!!!!

Speaking of trophy games, the actual cannon trophy could stand a makeover. Something bigger maybe? Lol
The stove pipe hat isn't great either. The Illibuck is the best of our three.

I honestly believe the DIA was not even trying to sell that many tickets this year until Bielema made a big deal about it publicly a few weeks ago when he spammed all of his interviews with pleas to the fans.

I am inferring from their behavior that this was the DIA agenda for tickets this year, and would love anyone in the know to either confirm or refute this:

1. Promote season ticket sales by increasing price of single game tickets. They were OK selling fewer tickets total this year as long as season ticket subscriptions increased.

2. Introduce flat pricing so that fans are forced to buy the best seats available. This prevents fans from buying cheaper seats then moving into vacant better seats during the game.

Edit: I think this whole ticket fiasco is shame because because it’s really the only blemish on the season
Why do you believe this?

My experience is consistent with that of DeonThomas. Attending a college football game at the University of Illinois is a relative bargain compared to nearly all in-person sporting events. (And I appreciate in-person sports is an experience not accessible to all fans.)

My observation is the DIA has elevated marketing across all athletics, hired two great coaches (and staffs) for the revenue sports, invested significantly in new facilities, and taken a leadership position in embracing NIL.

I am confused why you would “honestly believe the DIA was not even trying” to sell football tickets? In other words, the DIA wants to excel in just about every aspect of major collegiate athletics except having fans watch a winning football team?

The blemish on this season is that we haven’t had more than 46,000 fans in Memorial Stadium despite a 6-1 records, a 5-0 record at home, and a defense that has only given up 2 TDs at home. I don’t blame the DIA (or at lease the current leadership of the DIA) for this.

I respectfully disagree: I put the top hat as #1.

I wonder why the DIA hasn't tried a promotion towards increasing the season ticket base. Maybe something like buying a ticket for the Purdue game and having half of it go towards a deposit for tickets for next season. I think a lot of people would jump aboard that and want to get in on the very reasonable season ticket prices for next season.

Seriously, I usually only go to a single game a year but season tickets are such a good deal that if we are halfway decent it makes more sense to buy season tickets than a single ticket to homecoming.

There haven't been hotel rooms available in CU for Michigan State weekend for awhile now, but there are still plenty for Purdue weekend. Wonder why that is.

Do they already offer prorated season tickets? If not that seems like a no brainer and then maybe grandfather you into the same prices for next year if you purchase this year. And all the new people next year would have to pay the increased cost or something like that.

Dad’s Day. Lot of people coming to town, but not necessarily for football.
While your last point is likely fairly true, I imagine that a way higher percent of dads and their college kids will be attending or at least tailgating this year than in years past! I know they play games with it to try to make the crowd look more spread out and to fill up the lower bowl first, but it looks like there is VERY little availability left for the MSU game. Again, I know that doesn't mean every single seat is sold, but that game honestly looks like it is going to clear 50k very easily. Which is great!

6 day selection. Will have to wait until next weekend to find out Michigan State game time/TV.

Forgive my ignorance, but doesn't this mean that we are practically guaranteed to be on FOX, ABC or an ESPN channel? I was always under the impression that there wouldn't be a need for this song and dance if we were slated for BTN or FS1.
