Missouri 63, Illinois 56 POSTGAME

Idk who still needs to hear this but Damonte was not the reason we lost this game. He obviously played poorly but if you’re relying on Damonte to make contested layups to help dig you out of 14 point deficit to Mizzou, then clearly things have went way wrong up until that point.

He wasn't the reason we lost.

He should make his lay ups. People have a reasonable expectation that he make layups.

Don't have a problem with Griffin giving Smith some smack. I'd love to see these guys play with more of a chip on their shoulder nasty attitude. And i don't mean dirty basketball. What an indictment for Pickett to say we knew we were tougher than guys these. I'm in these corner but they are soft mentally and can't figure out they haven't proven a dang thing on the court. Bunch of pre-season hype that meant nothing.
Griffin shouldn't be talking any smack until he starts backing it up. This is two games now -- first one vs Miami and the Lykes kid -- where Griffin talked/instigated, produced little himself, and the team lost. When that happens, you look like a fool and make the team look bad.

Antigua's handling of the situation was not much better. Angrily wagging one's finger 2" from one's face is not exactly the best teaching moment. OTOH, Griffin had technical problems in the Miami game with their little star guard. So there sort of seems like a pattern of poor sportsman ship with Alan.

Sorry Final Four 88 didn't see your post before I sent mine.

How bad the team has looked is much more problematic for me.

Honestly, this loss should not surprise anyone, this is who we are. Handling Michigan is also who we are. There’s absolutely no way to predict the outcome game to game...it‘s both incredibly frustrating and incredibly hopeful.

Don’t blame the players, blame the coach making millions each year. It’s simple, they were not prepared to play this game. We have been doing the same stuff all year on offense and people are surprised it has finally been scouted? Guard play has to improve or we are toast, if Kofi has a bad game and our guards can’t get the job done it’s over. Trent should be point going forward, feliz remains on the bench (not starting), Alan needs to start, and giorgi needs to get his head on straight, he was out of control today. When you come out doing the same stuff the second half that you did in the first half, that tells you all you need to know about what this offense is able to do. No three point shooters, why wouldn’t they double Kofi???

We're going to win enough games in conference that we're a deserving bubble team, we're going to get left out, and then we're going to lose an incredibly winnable first round away game in the NIT at Lipscomb or similar because Cher will be occupying the Assembly Hall on the night we play.

Go Illini.

Sometimes I think to myself that our fans are kind of schizophrenic and bipolar; one day, we’re talking about being in the top 25, and the next we’re doubting our ability to make the NIT.

But ... that’s not true. Our TEAMS are. Normal fans should be able to be disappointed by a bad performance or pumped after a good one and yet feel a certain “foundation” of *who we are* as a team and know at least SOMEWHAT to expect going forward. Our teams just don’t give us that; they literally torture us, haha. This team has talent and ZERO identity, and they will continue to fluctuate wildly ... problem is, we’ve seen this movie over and over, and we’re becoming less and less confident after each high that it can ever last. :(

Too add on he is junior now, it's time to step up and be a leader. He just hasn't gotten better never developed a jump shot. He is credited as the glue guy but he still gets beat off the dribble bad timely fouls bad passes liability on offense. Pass the time for Griffin and Jones to get more mins.

Haha, there's that term again.

My tablet died today. Aw. But I replaced it quickly this evening, only because I wanted to share this loss with all of you and not see some impersonal BTN score.

I watched some of the game, but it was apparent after a few minutes what the outcome might be. Boy, when Kofi looks lost, bad things will happen. Not blaming him at all. But I settled down for a "long winter's nap".

Losses like these jeopardize fan support.

And speaking of "Jeopardy", I'll take "Dee: for three!".

Nevertheless, Happy Holidays to all of you! And every blessing in 2020.

I don't think that....I know that....based on the direct quote from the coach. They are the ones grading him out based on every aspect of the game.
So....however you want to spin your lame diatribe...it's just tired. You just don't know what you are talking about. Period.

The fact is DMW isn't the player YOU want him to be....flashy, gifted offensively, and pouring in points.

I don't give a crap what the coach grades DW. He is a liability on offense for sure, and the game becomes a 4 on 5 game. No way the offense is going to work with a non scorer in there. Everyone must be a threat.

The offense is not that great anyway. Where is the movement, looking for the open man. Why is GB the only one who seems to get Kofi
the ball. Why virtually no screens for shots. I have never seen a double screen for a shot.

What happened to the 3pt threat?????? Don't they ever practice shooting 3s, and under all conditions? How can we have missed layups game after game? Layups from all angles. A layup should be a 100% shot, unless fouled on the attempt.

Who is blocking out? Who is going weak side for a rebound? Where are the fundamentals? Is there a difference between Groce and Underwood? I honestly don't know.
