I'm sure some are going to bash ayos last 2-3 mins but dude had to have been gassed and no one else was stepping up consistently save for curbelo.

Kofi could have had 3-4 more dunks on missed catches alone
NOt being able to stop mizzous drives was disappointing, as was the rebounding

Ago played a big part of getting us back in the game, but in the last three minutes he threw up 2 slop shots and had two turnovers, plus another miss. It’s not about total individual points. Just like the Baylor game, Ayo did too much dribbling in the last five minutes.

The only silver lining is that this didn’t happen in front of fans in STL.

The most frustrating day I can remember in a long time.

I hope take #3 isn’t serious...
From what I watched, yes I am serious. It doesn't mean he isn't a great player, or he isn't capable...it means during this game, down the stretch, in the final 3 minutes, he was terrible. How would you define his play down the stretch?

Let's be realistic, this team isn't going to win close games shooting FTs so poorly, getting out-rebounded, and not hitting more 3s.
Knock on wood, but I don't think this team will find themselves suffering that combo many times this year. Maybe I'm wrong when we get gassed with a small rotation, but this seemed atypical.

Illinois is a very good team, but not Final 4 caliber unfortunately. Just too many flaws. If I had to guess id say they end up as a 4 or 5 seed and ultimately lose in the sweet 16. Still like the direction the program is heading and hope for more solid recruiting classes in the coming years.

Apologies, haven't read any posts yet, but he had a great game but Ayo messed up 3 late possessions. They didn't get into possessions quickly, didn't utilize Kofi over these possessions, Ayo dominant. He kept us close but tonight wasn't his night to close.

I love this team. I haven't had as much fun watching the Illini lose to Mizzou... ever... literally ever... This team is fun to watch!

It was abysmal. Those missed FTs. The back to back turnovers. That final possession/missed 3. He’s gotta be better in those situations to be considered a truly elite player.

Dude is a student of the game, he will learn from how gassed he got. Coaches and teammates need to learn to watch, he needs to take the cue.

That flagrant call on Kofi was a killer and a shamefully bad call... Announcers even said it was a basketball play. All that said, we still didn’t deserve to win. It will be a real shame if free throws, of all things, continue to be a downfall of this team.

Refs were terrible, but they were terrible both ways. Missouri capitalized with made free throws, we didn’t. Hats off to them.

We need Trent to find his offensive confidence. He played with Curbelo’s confidence as a Freshman and it’s seemed to disappear the last couple years. I’m all for stepping back for the good of the team, but he needs to be a bigger threat to score. Right now, he’s not much more than a spot up shooter when we know he’s capable of so much more.

How do you know what we are this early in the season? There's no way you can say we aren't a Final 4 team right now. It is way too early to start making these proclamations. Final Four teams grow and get better throughout the season all the time.
