Kobe Brown of Mizzou with most points ever scored by Mizzou player in single game in series. Most points scored by Mizzou in non-OT game in series. Largest margin of victory ever for Mizzou in this series, breaking previous record of 18 back in 1994. Largest margin of victory for either team in series since 2006 when Illini won 82-50.

Something something, Oklahoma State mid season adjustments, something something
We can certainly hope.

We had people believing we were underrated at the beginning of the year and putting half the team on NBA rosters at some point in the future. So as fans, we overrated the talent. Which is pretty common.

The problem to some degree seems to be that the players felt about the same way. Brad's job was to give them some solid grounding. He seems to have lost that with this team and now collectively they look like they're headed to the Korean Basketball League.

Defense was terrible, but it is not the same defense Illini ran in BU’s first two years. Result tonight was the same, but defenses are different.

They either can’t coach this defense or the players are unable to execute it. At this point, I’m not sure it matters which it is. We are approaching January and we are going to get absolutely lit up every night in the Big Ten playing this D.
At this point it is up to Brad to adjust to his players. Square peg meet round hole

Mizzou hit some prayers tonight and 2 guys had career nights. That said, we had some serious deficiencies.

My guess at starters next game: Epps, Harris, Mayer, Shannon, Hawkins (tho I disagree with Hawkins).

I enjoyed how Mizzou gathers in a circle at half and after the game. THAT'S chemistry, togetherness, and dare I say CULTURE.

I think we can all agree: that was certainly one of the basketball games of all time.

Disgusting.

Best thing about this game: I thought the announcers were very fair. No complaints there. Unfortunately…. Ugh
I was struck by how Sundvold talked about the team fractures. He pretty much flat out said the players do not like one another. Did he pick up on this in the pre-game and shoot around? He clearly had some insight and then saw it play out in the game with such poor teamwork on both ends.

I hope our guys have to watch and re-watch this game and see how Mizzou played. They cared. They hustled. They defended. They dove on the floor, gave it their all from the very start of the game. Their body language on the court, during dead balls and in their huddle was markedly different than ours. Our guys looked like they were at an AAU tournament. Our players better wake up and decide if they're gonna play big league ball or not. We don't look like the "Fighting" Illini right now. Ba humbug!

Scary bad. I’m not bball expert, and I’m probably gonna get flack for these suggestions, but these are the changes I’d make, now:

1. Hand the keys to the offense to TSJ. Our issues against high level competition started right around when MM came out of his “slump”. Frankly, I think MM, with his lack of passing/creating offense for anyone but himself + mediocre at best defense is more a liability than as asset. TSJ has shown he can be alpha dog on offense, let him do so and build the offense around him. The guys that’ll be most pissed about that will be gone after this year anyway (or should be gone anyway). The rest (underclassmen) will know that they’ll have the chance to get the keys next year (brad should make sure they know that)

2. Change our defensive philosophy to stop switching so aggressively. We either aren’t fast and/or smart enough to run it effectively.

Brad has done wholesale scheme changes mid-season in the past. I think one is due now.

And do whatever is needed to get team buy in. That’ll be hard intraseason, but not impossible if execution gets better.

We are at a crossroad
Either things get figured out or the season will be an all time disaster with the expectations we had for this team.

L, not sure what you know and don't know........but you might as well lay it out so the lamen illini fan can figure out what the issues are.
