This game better not be close. Mizzou is literally the lowest ranked P5 team in the country according to NET rankings.
Lol c'mon. You know that doesn't matter with this game.

Considering driving up for the game from Texas. Can anybody recommend some good hotels and restaurants in the area near the stadium?

Normally when I come up that way I stay in Collinsville by the Waffle House, but I’m also normally on the way to Chicago. Since I won’t be going that way, I’d like to be near the action.

Big props for the fanaticism, but I would encourage you to reconsider that 12 hour drive, lol.

If you want to see something interesting, go back 5 years to the coach search thread and you will be amazed how many of this fan base lusted for CM. In fact, one of our most respected insiders said we would rue the day we didn't hire CM. Two things to keep in mind:

CM built his reputation, such as it is, with his sweet 16 run at Tennessee. To get there I believe that it was Mercer who had to upset Duke. If your career is based on Mercer beating Duke, you ain't got a career.

Laphonso Ellis' made a huge mistake by hiring Brad Underwood instead of CM comment still sticks in my craw. Still irritates me.
I actually think it was very few that wanted him. Most realized what he was.

Live! By Loews.
Hotel located in Ballpark Village (799 Clark). Nice and close to the action.

The Hyatt Regency downtown is nice. It's the closest hotel to the Arch, if you plan to visit there.
Live! By Loews is brand new and right by Ballpark Village.
Hilton at the Ballpark has an awesome bar at the top called 360 with the best views of the City.
Hotel St Louis is new and very modern, but it's about a mile walk from the Enterprise Center. The others I've listed are all closer.
The Hilton at St Louis Union Station is the closest to Enterprise Center, but the Polar Express runs out of there, so the lobby will be filled with pajama'd families waiting for hot cocoa.
You can also AirBnB a lot of the lofts downtown if you're looking for something with a kitchen.

I agree. The factor that plays in the most in my opinion is that they no longer have several players with a personal grudge/motivation against the Illini (Smith, Pinson, Tilmon, and even Pickett).

And Clownzo is still their coach...........................
My crazy worry is that in his final year at a school cuonzo somehow does something to open up his next door. I'm hoping we're not part of that. Maybe a late sec run and a tourney win on Tuesday and he can leverage it for his next gig.

To think Painter almost had this job.

Isn't it pretty clear that Painter was just using them to get a raise? Why would anyone leave Purdue for Mizzou?

Cuonzo bet the farm hiring Michael Porter's father as assistant coach (only prior experience was a woman's assistant coach) to get the Porter brothers. Michael Porter 's father was paid $375k/yr on 3 year contract setting the market price for the #1 HS recruit in country at $1.1M. Unfortunately Michael Jr had back problems only played 2 games for Missouri. His brother Jontay was averaged 9 ppg as freshman before blowing his knee out and going to NBA. That is the only way Cuonzo can recruit.

20/20 hindsight - Brad #1 seed Underwood was the better hire.

interesting - other candidates on search list did not do well either

Archie Miller fired IU (he was never coming to Illinois)
Gregg Marshall fired Wichita State
Dan Muller is still at ISU but last two seasons were 10-21 and 7-18.
Jeff Capel still at Pittsburgh last two seasons 6-17 and 10-12
Mick Cronin took UCLA to Final Four (he was never coming to Illinois)

I drove all alone from Champaign to Houston when I got my job a week after graduation. And I did it in under 24 hours to save on car rental. Oh God, never again!! Props to you!

Pickett is still playing for Mizzou. Last man standing.

I watched him say that too, and it irritates me as well. However, he did say a lot of nice things about us last year. I would love someone to ask him, on camera, if he still stands by that statement.

I have a close friend that I make of point every chance I can of the inferiority of that Jr. College to the south. No offense intended to the other Jr. Colleges . . .

Finebaum caller on Friday....

Caller: John from St Louis

".....Paul, next time you talk to coach Martin, ask him why he cant recruit better and win ball games. This is utterly ridiculous....we are going to Lawrence tomorrow and get totally embarrased and go to Savage center soon and get our clocks cleaned by Illinois"

Paul: '...you are right, 2 big rivals coming up...he's from East St Louis..alot of blood there."

Wow. JW really did hit a home run with BU. The evidence gets more convincing every day.

I noticed enterprise center you need to be fully vaccinated. Does this mean just both shots? You don’t need the booster as well do you? Any idea?
