"" Demons and Wizards ""............................

Uriah Heep (band)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

1626970833818.png

Uriah Heep are an English rock band formed in London in 1969. Their current lineup includes lead and rhythm guitarist Mick Box, keyboardist Phil Lanzon, lead vocalist Bernie Shaw, drummer Russell Gilbrook, and bassist Dave Rimmer. They have experienced numerous lineup changes throughout their 52-year career, leaving Box as the only remaining original member. Notable former members of the band include vocalists David Byron, John Lawton, John Sloman, Peter Goalby, and Steff Fontaine, bassists Gary Thain, Trevor Bolder, John Wetton, Bob Daisley, Paul Newton, and John Jowitt, drummers Nigel Olsson, Lee Kerslake and Chris Slade, and keyboardists Ken Hensley, and John Sinclair.

Uriah Heep have released twenty-four studio albums (of original material), twenty live albums and forty-one compilation albums (including two greatest hits albums). Twelve of the band's studio albums have made it to the UK Albums Chart (Return to Fantasy reached No. 7 in 1975), while of the fifteen Billboard 200 Uriah Heep albums, Demons and Wizards was the most successful (No. 23, 1972).[1] In the late 1970s the band had massive success in Germany, where the "Lady in Black" single was a big hit.[2][3]

Uriah Heep are notable for being part of the early 1970s rock scene (along with other British bands like Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and Deep Purple), and have been referred to as pioneers of the hard rock, heavy metal and progressive rock genres.[4][5] The band has sold over 45 million albums worldwide with over four million sales in the U.S,[6] where its best-known songs include "Easy Livin'", "The Wizard", "Sweet Lorraine", and "Stealin'". They also maintain a significant following and perform at arena-sized venues in the Balkans, Germany, Japan, the Netherlands, Russia and Scandinavia.

Demons and Wizards is the fourth studio album by British rock band Uriah Heep, released 19 May 1972 by Bronze Records in the UK and Mercury Records in the US.

The result of Heep's newfound chemistry was the Demons and Wizards album, which in June 1972, reached No. 20 in the UK[4] and No. 23 in the US.[5] In Finland, the album hit No. 1 in May and remained on top of the charts for 14 weeks.[6]

The songs "The Wizard" and "Easy Livin'" were released as singles in the UK and North America as well as many other markets. The latter, a defiant rocker, according to Blows, was "tailor-made for Byron's extrovert showmanship"[2] and entered the US Billboard Hot 100 chart reaching No. 39, making it Heep's first and only American Top 40 hit.[7] "Easy Livin'" was also a mega-hit in the Netherlands and Germany, countries which were becoming strong markets for the band. It reached a disappointing No. 75 in Australia.[citation needed]

Demons and Wizards was remastered and reissued by Castle Communications in 1996 with three bonus tracks, and again in 2003 in an expanded deluxe edition. In 2017, Sanctuary Records released a two-disc deluxe edition.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foreigner_(band)

Foreigner is a British-American rock supergroup, originally formed in New York City in 1976 by veteran British guitarist and songwriter Mick Jones, and fellow Briton and ex-King Crimson member Ian McDonald, along with American vocalist Lou Gramm. Jones came up with the band's name as he, McDonald and Dennis Elliott were British, whereas Gramm, Al Greenwood and Ed Gagliardi were American.[3][4]

In 1977, Foreigner released its self-titled debut album, the first of four straight albums to be certified at least 5x platinum in the US. Foreigner peaked at No. 4 on the US album chart and in the Top 10 in Canada and Australia, while yielding two Top 10 hits in North America, "Feels Like the First Time" and "Cold as Ice". Their 1978 follow-up, Double Vision, was even more successful peaking at No. 3 in North America with two hit singles, “Hot Blooded” a No. 3 hit in both countries, and the title track, a US No. 2 and a Canadian No. 7. Foreigner’s third album, Head Games (1979) went to No. 5 in North America producing two Top 20 singles including its titletrack.

1627054687894.png

Double Vision is the second studio album by the British-American rock band Foreigner, released on 20 June 1978 by Atlantic Records. Recorded between December 1977 and March 1978, it was Foreigner's only album co-produced by Keith Olsen and the last recording with bass guitarist Ed Gagliardi who would be later replaced by Rick Wills.

Double Vision was the first in the line of many other recordings in which A&R executive John Kalodner would simply have his name listed twice in liner notes, as a play on the title of this album. The phrase "John Kalodner: John Kalodner" originated when the producer Olsen was wondering just how to credit Kalodner's involvement in the band and the album. In keeping with the double vision theme, guitarist Mick Jones came up with an idea of doubling the name.[4]

"Tramontane" is the only instrumental track Foreigner have released to date on a studio album.

Mick Jones takes the lead vocals on "Back Where You Belong" and "I Have Waited So Long".

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_Funk_Railroad

Grand Funk Railroad, sometimes shortened as Grand Funk, is an American hard rock band popular during the 1970s, who toured extensively and played to packed arenas worldwide.[2] Known for their crowd-pleasing arena rock style, the band was well-regarded by audiences despite a relative lack of critical acclaim.[3] The band's name is a play on words of the Grand Trunk Western Railroad, a line that runs through the band's home town of Flint, Michigan.
Grand Funk Railroad was formed as a trio in 1969 by Mark Farner (guitar, keyboards, harmonica, vocals) and Don Brewer (drums, vocals) from Terry Knight and the Pack, and Mel Schacher (bass) from Question Mark & the Mysterians.[2] Knight soon became the band's manager and also named the band as a play on words for the Grand Trunk Western Railroad, a well-known rail line in Michigan.[2] First achieving recognition at the 1969 Atlanta International Pop Festival, the band was signed by Capitol Records. After a raucous, well-received set on the first day of the festival, Grand Funk was asked back to play at the 1970 Atlanta International Pop Festival II the following year. Patterned after hard-rock power trios such as Cream, the band, with Terry Knight's marketing savvy, developed its own popular style. In August 1969 the band released its first album titled On Time, which sold over one million copies and was awarded a gold record in 1970.[4]

In February 1970 a second album, Grand Funk (or The Red Album), was awarded gold status.[4] Despite critical pans and little airplay, the group's first six albums (five studio releases and one live album) were quite successful.

Closer to Home is the third studio album by American rock band Grand Funk Railroad. The album was released on June 15, 1970, by Capitol Records. It was produced by Terry Knight. This album reached RIAA gold record status in 1970, making it the group's third gold record in one year. The album's inside artwork shows a live photo of the band performing at Madison Square Garden in February 1970.

In 2002 Closer to Home was remastered on compact disc with bonus tracks and also released in a limited-edition box set Trunk of Funk that contained the band's first four albums. The "trunk" has slots for twelve CDs to house the future release of the remaining eight albums that were released by Capitol. Also included is a pair of "Shinin' On" 3-D glasses, guitar pick and a sticker reproducing a concert ticket.

The first time I heard this album was in a recording studio in St. Louis , Mo in the fall of 1970........Our bass player's car had broken down in Salinas , Ks so someone in the band yelled ""Road trip "" and it was on .....travelling from southern Illinois was a pack of crazy 19 yr old dudes to pick up our bud....After we picked him up , as we were travelling back home fully medicated we stopped at a studio we had cut a couple of demo's at and the dude we knew there asked us if we had heard GFR 's new album........So , we listened for about 4 hours over and over to the disc...the dude there gave us an album to take home ....we ended up playing 3-4 songs off of this album and they were well received by our following of fans....

Saw this band at Kiel Auditorium sometime in 1971....can't remember when ......lol

I miss those days...........................................

1627405787950.png

Chicago is an American rock band formed in Chicago, Illinois, in 1967. The group was initially billed as The Big Thing before calling themselves The Chicago Transit Authority in 1968, and then shortening the name in 1969. The self-described "rock and roll band with horns" blended elements of classical music, jazz, R&B, and pop music. They produced numerous top-40 hits over two decades, and continue to record and perform live.
Growing out of several Chicago-area bands in the late 1960s, the original line-up consisted of Peter Cetera on bass, Terry Kath on guitar, Robert Lamm on keyboards, Lee Loughnane on trumpet, James Pankow on trombone, Walter Parazaider on woodwinds, and Danny Seraphine on drums. Cetera, Kath, and Lamm shared lead vocal duties. Laudir de Oliveira joined the band as a percussionist and second drummer in 1974. Kath died in 1978, and was replaced by several guitarists in succession. Bill Champlin joined in 1981, providing vocals, keyboards, and rhythm guitar. Cetera left the band in 1985 and was replaced by Jason Scheff. Seraphine left in 1990, and was replaced by Tris Imboden. The band's lineup has been more fluid since 2000, but keyboardist Robert Lamm and the entire horn section of Loughnane, Pankow, and Parazaider have remained constant members.
1627405822936.png

Chicago Transit Authority is the self-titled debut album by the Chicago-based rock band Chicago (then known as Chicago Transit Authority). It was recorded and released in 1969. For this inaugural recording effort the group was nominated for a Grammy Award for 1969 Best New Artist of the Year.[4] The album was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2014.[5] The album stayed on the Billboard 200 for 171 weeks,[6] beating the previous record for a rock album's longevity of 155 weeks[7] and has been certified double platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).[8]

Released in April 1969, Chicago Transit Authority (sometimes informally referred to simply as "CTA") was not an immediate hit, eventually reaching No. 17 in the US[16] and No. 9 in the UK.[17] While critical reaction was generally favorable, sales were slow at first and the album initially failed to produce any hit singles, with the group seen as an album-oriented collective. Meanwhile, FM radio, with its album-oriented format, helped push sales along.[18] In 1970 and 1971, "Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?" (No. 7),[19] "Beginnings" (No. 7)[19] and "Questions 67 and 68" (No. 71 and No. 24 for the 1971 re-release)[19] all made it into the Billboard Hot 100 belatedly. Buoyed by the success of their later albums, Chicago Transit Authority had stayed on the charts for 171 weeks as of June 1975,[6] setting the then record for a rock album's chart longevity by October 1974 at 155 weeks,[7] and was certified gold (and later platinum and double platinum) by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).[8]

While the band toured the album, legal action was threatened by the actual Chicago Transit Authority, forcing the group to truncate their name to simply Chicago.

I saw this band in 1971 at the old Freedom Hall in Louisville, Ky and was blown away by their stage performance......There was 3 of us from our band that went to see them that night and we all loved the newness of their sound ....the incorporation of the horns into a rock band was refreshing and their songs were also fresh and you wanted to dance and sing along whenever you heard them on the radio.......they have been a staple in the music scene for many years , but their debut album still is my fav....South Cailfornia Purples was and still is my fav song on this album......

On a side note , one of my closest friends was a DJ back then and I used to go set with him when he was working and he told me to listen to this demo single he had received one day .....It was Chicago's song "" 25 or 6 to 4 """....It hadn't been released yet and of course it went on to be a gigantic hit......

Savoy Brown

Savoy Brown (Originally Savoy Brown Blues Band) are an English blues rock band[1] formed in Battersea, south west London,[2] in 1965. Part of the late 1960s blues rock movement, Savoy Brown primarily achieved success in the United States, where they promoted their albums with non-stop touring.[2]The band was formed by guitarist Kim Simmonds[2] and harmonica player John O'Leary, following a chance meeting at Transat Imports record shop in Lisle Street, Soho, in 1965. In naming themselves, the group put together two words that conveyed an interesting balance of opposite sentiments and approaches. The word "Savoy" came from an American blues label, Savoy Records, as the members of the band thought the word "Savoy" sounded elegant. They added “Brown” because they thought it was an extremely plain word. Overall, the group called itself the Savoy Brown Blues Band to tell listeners that they played Chicago Blues-sounding music.[3]

1627591689844.png

Street Corner Talking is the seventh studio album by the band Savoy Brown. Released by Parrot in 1971 (PAS 71047), it was the first album released by the band since the departure of Lonesome Dave, Roger Earl, and Tone Stevens who all went on to form the band Foghat. This left Kim Simmonds as the only remaining member on the group from the previous line-up. Simmonds recruited a fresh lineup of musicians, predominantly members of the previous line-up of Chicken Shack; which had undergone a seismic change in membership similar to that which had affected Savoy Brown; which, in turn, ushered in a new sound for the band.

  2. "I Can't Get Next To You" (Barrett Strong, Norman Whitfield) – 6:35

Savoy Brown[edit]

First time I ever heard this band was down , again in Carbondale , Il at SIU-C partying like a mfer....my bud who was with me got stuck up in a tree , to blasted to come down .....so we just moved the music out to the front yard and continued on with our little universe......
This band is what we called "" tight as hell ""......The beat of the percussions leads you in a way that allows you to recognize the musical artistry of Kim Simmonds , lead guitarist........Dave Walker had that down to earth vocal way about him ......Paul Raymond always amazed me with his keyboards imput that sometimes lead the song and other times blended in perfectly....

Kim Simmonds , to me , is a great guitarist.....Some of the songs here , he makes you think his guitar is weeping hauntingly and it just blows me away....

"" All I Can Do "" is my fav song here....the back and forth between the keyboards and lead guitar just astounds me with the tight richness of their sound...............

I hope some of you that don't know this band and this album will give it a listen ....It is a mainstay in my music library....Enjoy.............

I'm surprised that people I talk to from THIS AREA (Tinley Park) have never heard of it. I stopped by the building in March 2020 when they had just started building.

Mark Freuder Knopfler OBE (/ˈnɒpflər/ NOP-flər; born 12 August 1949) is a British singer-songwriter, guitarist, and record producer. He became known as the lead guitarist, singer and songwriter of the rock band Dire Straits. He pursued a solo career after leaving the band in 1987. Dire Straits reunited in early 1991, but dissolved again in 1995. He is now an independent solo artist.

The Ragpicker's Dream

1630850744582.png

The Ragpicker's Dream is the third solo studio album by British singer-songwriter and guitarist Mark Knopfler, released on 30 September 2002 by Mercury Records internationally, and by Warner Bros. Records in the United States.[1] The album received generally favorable reviews upon its release

In his review for AllMusic, Hal Horowitz gave the album three out of five stars, calling the album "a pleasant, classy, often inspired effort whose unassuming charms are best appreciated after repeated listenings."[1] Horowitz continued:

The memorable riffage that fueled Dire Straits' most radio-friendly material has been discarded for a more pastoral approach, making this a perfect album for a rainy Sunday morning. Like his Notting Hillbillies side project, it isn't entirely unplugged, yet there is an emphasis on acoustic accompaniment to its predominantly ballad slant. Instead of leaving space for traditional soloing, Knopfler weaves his snake-like guitar between the words. This infuses a tense, edgy quality in even the most bucolic tracks.[1]
Horowitz acknowledges Knopfler's versatility and breadth of music on the album: the atmospherics of "Hill Farmer's Blues" and "Fare Thee Well Northumberland", the unaccompanied folk/blues of "Marbletown", the "shuffling groove" on the spooky "You Don't Know You're Born", the mid-tempo "Coyote", the authentic honky tonk swing of "Daddy's Gone to Knoxville", and Roger Milleresque "Quality Shoe". Horowitz singles out the title track, which he describes as "an homage to the American roots music he's always admired."[1]

Alice in Chains

The band performing onstage
Alice in Chains performing in September 2007. From left to right: William DuVall, Sean Kinney and Jerry Cantrell (Mike Inez is out of frame).
Alice in Chains (often abbreviated as AIC) is an American rock band from Seattle, Washington, formed in 1987 by guitarist and vocalist Jerry Cantrell and drummer Sean Kinney,[1] who later recruited bassist Mike Starr and lead vocalist Layne Staley.[1][2][3] Starr was replaced by Mike Inez in 1993.[4] William DuVall joined the band in 2006 as co-lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist, replacing Staley, who died in 2002. The band took its name from Staley's previous group, the glam metal band Alice N' Chains.[5][2]
Often associated with grunge music, Alice in Chains' sound incorporates heavy metal elements. The band is known for its distinctive vocal style,[6] which often included the harmonized vocals between Staley and Cantrell[7] (and later Cantrell and DuVall).[8][9] Cantrell started to sing lead vocals on the 1992 acoustic EP Sap, and his role continued to grow in the following albums, making Alice in Chains a two-vocal band.[7][8][9]
Alice in Chains rose to international fame as part of the grunge movement of the early 1990s, along with other Seattle bands such as Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and Soundgarden. They achieved success during the era with the albums Facelift (1990), Dirt (1992), Alice in Chains (1995), as well as the EP Jar of Flies (1994). Although never officially disbanding, Alice in Chains was plagued by extended inactivity from 1996 onward, due to Staley's substance abuse, which resulted in his death in 2002. The band regrouped in 2006, with DuVall taking over as lead vocalist full-time,[10] and they have since released three more albums: Black Gives Way to Blue (2009), The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here (2013), and Rainier Fog (2018).
Alice in Chains have sold over 30 million records worldwide,[11] and over 14 million records in the US alone.[12] The band has had 18 Top 10 songs on Billboard's Mainstream Rock Tracks chart,[13] 5 No. 1 hits,[13] and received 11 Grammy Award nominations.[14][15][16] six studio albums, three EPs, three live albums, four compilations, two DVDs, 43 music videos,[17][18] and 32 singles.

The album was initially planned to be more "energetic" than his previous work, but ended up presenting a wide range of styles such as reggae rock, disco, and soul music.

Mars co-wrote the whole record and worked with several past collaborators, while enlisting new producers and no guest vocalists. Lyrically, Unorthodox Jukebox revolves around the theme of relationships, incorporating more explicit lyrics and subjects than his previous material. On December 4, 2012, Unorthodox Jukebox was made available to listen to in its entirety for a week before its release. Critical response to Unorthodox Jukebox was generally favorable; many reviewers compared Mars's work to that of his previous album, while others deemed its lyrics shallow.

It debuted at number two on the US Billboard 200, with first week sales of 192,000 copies, and later topped the chart. The record also reached number one in Australia, Canada, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom. It became Mars's fastest-selling album in the latter country in 2012, the third best-selling album in Australia in 2013, and the fifth best-selling in the United States in 2013. The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) reported that Unorthodox Jukebox was globally the fourth best-selling album in 2013, with 3.2 million copies, and six million units as of March 2016.

Unorthodox Jukebox won the Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album at the 56th Grammy Awards. The premiere of the album was preceded by the release of its lead single, "Locked Out of Heaven", which experienced commercial acclaim worldwide and topped the US Billboard Hot 100 songs chart for six consecutive weeks. Subsequently, four other singles ("When I Was Your Man", "Treasure", "Gorilla", and "Young Girls") were made available for consumption in 2013, with each one of them having major to moderate success in the United States. Unorthodox Jukebox was further promoted through The Moonshine Jungle Tour (2013–2014).

This is such an interesting album to me....It was the favorite music that I listened to in my last relationship before the one I'm in now........That woman introduced me to a lot of different things in life that my sheltered life experience had procluded from me..........I really enjoy this work by Bruno but I really haven't explored the rest of his discography....I read some where in the past that he is or was one of the highest paid entertainers in the world , averaging around $ 50 million annually....Good gig if you can get it......The lyrics to " Gorilla " still bring back great memories of that relationship....But I learned over the course of 4 + years that music and drugs does not sustain a relationship....I have grown immensley since then .....And yes, this woman still calls me from time to time.....Enjoy...................

The album serves as his first release outside of the band White Zombie, with whom he released two multi-platinum studio albums. Hellbilly Deluxe was released on August 25, 1998 through Geffen Records.[7] Musically, the project portrays Zombie's love for classic horror films with heavy metal and electronic music. The album's lyrics speak of murder, chaos, and supernatural forces. The majority of Hellbilly Deluxe was recorded in California, and was produced by both Zombie and Scott Humphrey; Zombie is credited as the sole writer on all of the songs.

The album was released by Geffen Records on November 13, 2001,[8] more than three years after the release of his first album.[9] The album's title is named after the 1961 crime drama film The Sinister Urge, directed and written by Ed Wood.[10] Much like his previous effort, The Sinister Urge features elements of horror film and suspense in both its lyrical content and its music. I've seen Rob Zombie live about 5 times. Puts on an amazing show. Interestingly he's one of the few performers my wife and I both love (she's more of a country girl) and we both thoroughly enjoy his shows.

Kacey Lee Musgraves (born August 21, 1988) is an American singer and songwriter. She has won six Grammy Awards (including Album of the Year in 2018), seven Country Music Association Awards, and three Academy of Country Music Awards. Musgraves self-released three solo albums and one as Texas Two Bits, before appearing on the fifth season of the USA Network's singing competition Nashville Star in 2007, where she placed seventh.[1][2][3] Musgraves also released a Christmas-themed album, A Very Kacey Christmas, in 2016.[4]

Her fourth studio album Golden Hour (2018) was released to widespread critical acclaim and won all four of its nominated Grammy Award categories, including Album of the Year and Best Country Album.[5] The album's first two singles, "Space Cowboy" and "Butterflies", won the Grammy Award for Best Country Song and Best Country Solo Performance respectively. [6] Musgraves’ fifth studio album, Star-Crossed, was released in September 2021.

1633600418218.png

Star-Crossed is the fifth studio album by American singer Kacey Musgraves. It was released on September 10, 2021, by MCA Nashville and Interscope Records. Musgraves co-wrote and co-produced the album with American musicians Ian Fitchuk and Daniel Tashian, with whom she collaborated on her fourth studio album, Golden Hour (2018), as well.

The album's subject matter was inspired by Musgraves' personal journey of heartache and healing following her divorce from American singer-songwriter Ruston Kelly. She described Star-Crossed as chronicling a "modern tragedy", taking influences from Romeo and Juliet, the famous play by English playwright William Shakespeare, and cited Bill Withers, Daft Punk, Sade, Eagles, and Weezer as her musical references for the album. Sonically, Star-Crossed is a pop record incorporating folk, dance, rock, and psychedelic elements, while retaining the country sensibility of its predecessor. It consists of mellow ballads, propelled by steady tempos, analog synthesizers, looped drums, and layered harmonies.

The album was preceded by three singles: the lead single and title track "Star-Crossed" on August 23, 2021, followed by "Justified" four days later, and "Simple Times" on September 9, 2021. An accompanying film titled after the album and featuring its music, directed by Bardia Zeinali, was exclusively released to Paramount+ alongside the album's release. Star-Crossed received generally favorable reviews from music critics, who regarded it the "divorce album" of Musgraves' discography, in contrast to the celebration of marriage in Golden Hour. Most of the reviews of Star-Crossed complimented its genre-blending production and Musgraves' intimate storytelling, while the rest felt it is an inferior work to Golden Hour. Commercially, Star-Crossed arrived inside the top 10 in Australia, Canada, Scotland, the United Kingdom, and the United States; furthermore, it topped the country genre charts in Australia, the U.K. and the U.S.

I found this album after hearing her perform on SNL last Saturday........She did one song only in cowboy boots and her guitar.....Bold , to say the least...I had listened to some of her work prior to the SNL episode and was impressed......Hard , for me at least , to define her work into a specific genre....She is listed as a country singer , but I'm thinking she is more of an Indie type than pure country.....Now I've been a country music fan at all , so if this singer is classified as a pure country singer then I might have to expand my listening habits.......After reading the info involved about her prior works I am going to listen to Golden Hour as soon as I finish this post.....That might be where I first came aquainted with her work.....This album is a really great work , with lyrics that are pertinent to the theme of the work....Enjoy and feedback is welcomed.......................

One Is The Loneliest Number - Three Dog Night (Lyrics)

https://www.youtube.com › watch

Lyrics
One is the loneliest number that you'll ever do
Two can be as bad as one
It's the loneliest number since the number one
No is the saddest experience you'll ever know
Yes is the saddest experience you'll ever know
'Cause one is the loneliest number that you'll ever know
One is the loneliest number even worse than two, yeah
It's just no good anymore since you went away
Now, I spend my time just
Making up rhymes of yesterday
One is the loneliest number
One is the loneliest number
One is the loneliest number
Since you went away
Since you went away
One is the loneliest number
Since you've gone away
One is the loneliest number
One is the loneliest number
One is the loneliest number
Since you've gone away
It's just no good anymore since you went away
Now, I spend my time just
Making up rhymes of yesterday
One is the loneliest number
One is the loneliest number
One is the loneliest number
Since you went away
Since you went away

Type O Negative was an American gothic metal band formed in Brooklyn, New York in 1989,[4][5] by Peter Steele (lead vocals, bass), Kenny Hickey (guitar, co-lead vocals), Josh Silver (keyboards, backing vocals), and Sal Abruscato (drums, percussion), who was later replaced by Johnny Kelly. Their lyrical emphasis on themes of romance, depression, and death resulted in the nickname "the Drab Four"[6] (in homage to the Beatles' "Fab Four" moniker).[7] The band went platinum with 1993's Bloody Kisses, and gold with 1996's October Rust, and gained a fanbase through seven studio albums,[8] two best-of compilations, and concert DVDs.

Steele died on April 14, 2010, at the age of 48; some sources report the cause of death as heart failure[9][10] brought on by an aortic aneurysm, while others list sepsis caused by diverticulitis.[11][12][13][14][15][16] Hickey and Kelly stated in a November 2010 interview with French music magazine Rock Hard that Type O Negative had broken up following Steele's death.[17]

1643048523775.png

October Rust is the fourth studio album by Type O Negative. It was released in 1996.[5] This is the first album with Johnny Kelly credited as the band's drummer, although programmed drums are used on the album. October Rust has more ballads and less of the doom metal sound of previous or subsequent albums. It also features a much heavier cover of Neil Young's "Cinnamon Girl."

It is the first of the band's albums with a "joke intro"; in this case, "Bad Ground", which is 38 seconds of low-level buzzing, meant to sound as if the listener's speakers are incorrectly plugged in. Tracks 2 and 15 are humorous untitled spoken word intros and outros to the album, respectively, with the band downplaying the recording of the album. Another production technique employed on the album is the use of very abrupt endings and segues to a few of the songs, heard on the tracks "Green Man", "Red Water", and "Haunted".
