It amazes me that the NCAA think they are going to fix the NIL. We all know schools are telling recruits you come here you will make this much. It’s free agency like it or not. The powerhouse schools will continue to get good recruits

Umm, maybe finish their study by 2045 but find it not to be advisable to publish before given permission by the blue bloods.

Bear with me as I try to make this a complete thought: "with a review of how NIL policies, or lack thereof, have affected athletes' school choice, transfer opportunities, academics and their mental health." and the proper percent the NCAA should take off the top of each and every contract to ensure the survival of the NCAA.
Thank you.

I bet Kofi is getting some nice $ from this. If I owned this popup I would set it up a booth at Assembly Hall and Memorial Stadium for every home game. Instead of waiting in line for the bathroom at halftime you could be buying a jersey.

......A pop-up Illini Store in Lincoln Park is helping them get paid, as 30% to 50% of the revenue from every jersey, t-shirt or hoodie sold goes directly to the player a fan chooses. Campus Ink, the apparel printing company that opened this first-ever NIL store, has helped Illini basketball players earn more than $75,000 since September.....

I’ve been really wanting something and actively trying to find something to get all year but have been disappointed and uninterested in anything I’ve seen. All extremely busy designs filled with cartoons that almost feel offensive like the Dumbo crows. While I understand that’s the “L” prong of the NIL, I wish they’d focus more on one of the other two letters. I suspect there are many buyers in waiting for them. I’m one.

Totally agree. Campus Ink seems to mean well, but their whole thing is using student designers. That's great for makings shirts for Greek life and bar crawls, but our athletes, especially the stars, need professional designers to create their merch.

If you keep scrolling, you will see article after article of NIL stuff. It's going crazy.

Has anyone seen any estimates on the amounts of NIL money Illinois basketball players received? Specifically, I'm interested in what Kofi received. I would assume that it is an ongoing thing as long as they are enrolled at Illinois and doesn't end just because the season is over.

Lol. While in the NBA? Or while at Illinois? Pretty big range depending on how that sentence is finished.
The statement was in the context of NIL vs G league or overseas, so presumably it’s an NIL comparison.

Why compare Ayo’s NBA salary to Kofi’s NIL income?

NIL income wasn't allowed until last summer so Ayo's NIL income was ~$0. I guess technically the NCAA allowed NIL about a month before the draft, but I suspect Ayo was focused on something else last July.

Statement was made in the context of what Kofi brought in from NIL. Ayo wasn't around when NIL was a thing, so his income would've been $0, presumably (ie, post was light sarcasm). But if it's in reference to his NBA salary, then that's a massive number for a college athlete (particularly one with not a great chance being drafted), which is obviously important if one's deciding whether to go pro or not.

I see what you’re saying. As you were 😊

The fact that Kofi doesn't have a NIL deal for either a) a coffee company or b) a jock itch ointment of some sort (a tagline of "silence the itch" is just sitting right there!!!) is nothing short of a travesty.
I can see it now..........."It might stop the itch...........But.......NOTHING can stop the 'burn"

I'm glad that walk-ons can also benefit from NIL. Might be a good way to add players even after scholarships are filled up. Just over compensate on NIL offers. I wonder which school will be the first one to sign a 4/5 ⭐ player on a walk-on spot with big NIL money.
