It's good money for Ayo, but to be honest I have come to really think he's a bad fit with the Bulls with their horribly depressing glut of guards, all of whom are fundamentally unsuited to the needs at PG on an ill-fitting, go-nowhere team.

He's a nice story on his hometown team but I hope he gets traded, I think he has a brighter future in a different situation that tries to use and develop what he is rather than wish he was something he wasn't.

The Bulls have had plenty of problems with less-than-brilliant decisions coming out of Bulls Management over the years. With Ayo getting signed anew ... they got this one right.

We will see if the Bulls will actually be a long-term home for our Illini great as the contract plays out. But someone in the Bulls office actually not only sees value in Ayo as a court presence... but also what Ayo means to the Chicagoland and Illini Communities beyond his role on the floor. A serious young man that carries himself with integrity. Someone who will indeed get the most possible out of his abilities. And who plays ‘D’! in today’s NBA shoot-fest.

And surprise, surprise — someone on the Bulls gets that.

My criticisms of the Bulls comes not from anger but from love. I have been a season-ticket holder in earlier days who has ventured out from the ‘burbs to get down to West Madison Street during freezing cold nights that featured vigorous ice storms. And then other days when the weather got – bad! ... (a bit of commentary about Winter in Chicago).

Bernstein, a Duke graduate who also called basketball games for DePaul, has never liked the University of Illinois. Some of his quotes in his ‘reporting‘ include: “They'll hate whatever it is, and perhaps the rest of us will too, considering how this university gets so much wrong.” Another: “Last March, athletic director Josh Whitman announced the hiring of his new coach by boasting that Underwood was ‘a proven winner’ who he expected to ‘build upon our proud tradition while developing an unmistakable identity for Illinois basketball.‘ Winless is unmistakable and is a kind of identity, I guess.”

Fan-freaking-tastic. The Bulls keep a versatile piece the fans like, and Ayo can focus on his game for a couple years. I'm confident that he can outlast some of his competition.

The Bulls are an awful organization and are going to be stuck in mediocrity forever and have done a lot to ruin the NBA for me, which makes me more glad that Ayo is getting every dollar he can out of them. Get rich young man you deserve it!

Trade LaVine. Trade DeRozan. Go back in time and move on from Vuc. Go Ayo.
