NBA Thread 2026

In Gritty’s defense, I’m completely shocked the Blazers made the playoffs this year. If you knew Deni Avdija was suddenly becoming an all star in year six, I’d love to know if you also have some lottery numbers or stock tips.
Just giving him some grief; it’s all good.

Since I spent a year at Oregon State, I’ve followed the Blazers. When he originally wrote that, I thought they had a chance to make playoffs this year in large part because there were so many teams tanking and with the team being in the process of being sold, Blazers weren’t likely to tank. Actually made a minor move at the deadline, so one could see they weren’t selling off guys. Even if they didn’t make playoffs this year, I felt there was a good chance they’d make playoffs next year with Lillard being back.

Hey, we all make mistakes and not every take is right. But it was the statement “if you know anything about the Blazers absolutely will not convert until 2028” that I thought was ridiculous, which is why I remembered the post. If you throw out absolutes and seemingly position yourself as an expert on Portland, all to support your premise about the “value” of getting first round picks back as trade compensation, have to expect some grief.

Did anybody else wake up a little sorer than usual and feeling like they had aged overnight? Thought maybe I had just slept wrong, but then I remembered something Gritty wrote back in Feb. in the now locked (not sure why) Bulls thread.

“All of their own firsts, plus a lottery protected Portland first (which was traded to the Bulls in the Lauri Markannen deal in 2021, has not coverted and if you know anything about the Blazers absolutely will not convert until 2028, at which point it converts as a second rounder, see what I said above about the myth of the "first rounder" being a good trade return).”

Turns out I had aged overnight and it is 2028. Thankfully we have a board member who knows Portland so well or I would still be flummoxed. 😊
Lol I literally found out the Blazers were in the play-in yesterday, shows how much I have been paying attention.

Very glad AKME aren't the ones making these two picks, but with the Reinsdorf's apparently chasing away any GM worth their salt by demanding they retain Donovan, we are far far from out of the woods here.

Jalen Johnson style of play is how I envision Keaton Wagler.

I never watch the NBA unless it is a former Illini so I may be clueless on this comp.
