Feeling mostly bad for Finke, who REALLY needed shots to fall, and finally had a game winning (almost) shot fall.

That's not possible. Finke is terrible. I read it here just yesterday.

Seriously, he wasn't much in the 1st half, but he was terrific in the second.

Finke had a good second half. He is still very much a liability on defense. If I was an opponent I would attack him constantly.

We have 3 bigs though to play the 4 and 5 though so we have to hope for the best out of all of them.

Yes. I am serious, too.

Freshmen will have grown up and we theoretically return everybody but Alstork while adding Ayo. Will also be far more comfortable with the System. Next year we should expect to dance.

This year we are saltier than the Dead Sea with these awful late-game gut punches.

We aren’t dancing without size, length and athleticism. You can’t win at this level without it; I’m puzzled at the thought process of getting one more year of growth and Ayo will overcome our SEVERE lack of the above. Unfortunately, I can see LeRon looking out for LeRon and going to a contender for his 5th year, why the hell would he at this point.

I felt good about this game for no obvious reason.
Good enough to put my beach house on it beforehand.

Where can I win a new beach house?

I got one, it's yours if you want it...

I enjoyed the fight in the team.
The higher speed, the pressure we applied.
I liked seeing us get rebounds on both ends of the floor.
Frazier and Leron were incredible and Finke reconnected.
That was all good.

But I never did feel good about the game while watching, even when Finke hit the 4 point play with :08 to go.
Just knew that something nasty was going to slap us and lo and behold, it did.
This is a hard year to get excited, because so many ways have been found to take the gift back and laugh at us. nah nah nah nah nah nah

Our lack of points off turnovers and O rebounds killed us this game. An average night in either stat we win handily.

Up until now, the problem with the team seemed to be our big men (or lack thereof)—getting out rebounded/giving up easy inside baskets. Tonight, we dominated rebounding and Ebo and Leron seemed to handle Nebraska's bigs fine. Guards just didn't deliver.

On another note, I'm glad that Finke is getting his swagger back, but I maintain there are negatives to him that don't show up on the stat sheet. When he was at center, Nebraska frequently just blew by him. He's too much of a defensive liability, in my opinion, to play more than half the game.

Also, not to be overly negative, but I don't see this as a "great to see the fight in us, but we lost" type game. We shot terribly, especially from three. Made stupid turnovers and committed stupid fouls. I was hoping we would come out similar to the Iowa first half.

The amazing thing is that if the off balance low percentage 3 pt misses this is a completely different board. It is amazing how much a difference a lucky shot makes.

I saw heart and hustle from beginning to end (except for Kipper on 2 plays at the edge of the court) but too many mistakes. I'm disappointed they didn't know how to attack the 1-3-1. Backside was wide open.

Nebby's never an easy place to win. Just ask KS. Cut down on mistakes and there's multiple wins ahead.

MS, MA, DW and AJ were 1 for 20....ouch. Our 3p buzz was killed tonight (3 of 18) but we killed it on boards 46 to 29 for them. ATO under 1.

The one positive is that Illinois basketball has become so irrelevant that we don't get any trolls from other fan bases over here anymore when we lose. So at least there's that.

We really need more from those 4. MS and DW are freshmen so I'll give them the break but MA and AJ desperately need to do better than that. Smith also needs to get more comfortable with the ball in his hands and let the offense run through him
