Another thing I forgot to mention during the game thread was how awful our passing was last night. I'm not talking turnovers, I'm talking passes to guys where they'd have to catch it completely out of any triple threat action. There were so few good ones, I remember being caught off guard by a few that were on target. I didn't see one good post entry feed out out of maybe the 3 attempted.

It's not like Nebby was playing Houston Cougar style defense. Very frustrating.
Some were on target and just not caught.

Speaking of in-game adjusting..... despite the overall solid defensive efficiency numbers, every single high-major opponent (until last night) has steadily increased their scoring efficiency over the course of the game against us. That's EVERY GAME that our opponent has been able to make adjustments and then score more consistently, all the way through to the final whistle.
Whew! Fascinating. I think analytics are a great predictor of what will happen in a situation IF YOU HAVE NO OTHER INFORMATION specific to that particular situation. As a game progresses, you get more and more information, and I think pregame analytics will generally become less and less useful. If you are sticking with the pregame analytics, and not factoring in what you learn during the course of the game at hand, those analytics can become cement overshoes.

I am trying to be funny but I also mean this in all seriousness. BU needs to abandon the time-honored tradition of hiring your kid into the family business, and instead adopt the time-honored tradition of calling on your connections to get your kid a job.
Like Connor McCaffrey at Butler!

I have never heard the offensive theory of jacking threes to track down a rebound as a way to produce a better shot. Quite an interesting approach. The film of this game will be painful to watch for everyone. The inability to defend the inbounds pass under the basket is biddy ball bad!!

Missing shots to try and get extra possessions is not a winning formula, Brad.

Underwood cheap shot at Piper really didn’t sit well with me. It was just odd. The Piper family are good people. I was in the same class at centennial with Josh Piper. Great player, good shooter, smart, team player. Contributed to a state championship as a Sophmore.
That was uncharacteristic of BU...he is teetering on exploding! I think Brad's fuse was lit last night......

Brad was obviously very defensive in the post-game interview. He has to know a lot of the issues with this team are very much his fault, and yet he can't admit it to himself or anyone else. (Issues other than Tomi's mono, KJ's arm injury, or the appalling bad officiating at MSU.)

For example, regarding a question about our guards' lazy, casual, too-cool-for-school turnovers, Brad appeared to (intentionally?) misunderstand: "I write it down on the board before every game! We can't have 17 turnovers!" (Translation: It's their fault, not mine!) But the question was clearly not about how many turnovers, but rather about how come we have so many bad (unforced) turnovers. I think that's when Brad cheap-shotted Piper: Brad was acting-out from a feeling of defensiveness, and tried to shutdown Piper (who was too nice to go after Brad with a pointed follow-up question).

I rewatched the second half earlier today while listening to the Mike Carpenter 200 level podcast where he does second half commentary. It wasn't a very fun experience, and his reactions in real time were very similar to what we have all been saying on the board.

Honestly the parts of the game that were bar far the most frustrating on the rewatch (aside from Ben starting the OT instead of DGL) was the careless turnovers and the defense getting torched frequently by simple back cuts and BLOB plays.

The poor three point shooting was a much smaller concern especially when there were 4-5 possessions in the final 6 minutes where we had the chance to tie or take the lead but instead dribbled off our feet or chucked the ball out of bounds. Didn't even give ourselves a chance to miss a three.

One other note is that Nebraska is frequently lauded for its tough home court and raucous crowd, but I don't feel like they affected the game at all despite the final result. Obviously we didn't play well at all, but I don't think it was the crowd rattling the team, just lack of focus and effort.

It was the second half with maybe 12 remaining when the broadcast pointed out we had 8 turnovers in the second half and only 6 made field goals. I think the focus right now had to be effort and finding out who wants to win. Get KJ and Tomi healthy, get guys to find a stroke, and make the tournament. If those things happen, we could do win the big ten tourney and make a run. In March madness, rankings don’t matter, just who’s hot. Trying to be a little positive after all the stink, stank, and stunk. That was awful

Terrible take. There was only one team that was going to beat us last year and it happened to be the best college team probably in the last 20 years.

This team is flat out snake bitten with injuries. Let's get healthy (if we can), then see how the chips fall.

Did anyone hear why Brad had bandages on his hand? Guess his hand met a locker or something at half time?

For real, is there a record in Big 10 play that would put us in the NIT? I think we play 20 Big 10 games. If we go 10-10, 9-11, or 8-12 would we be left out of the NCAA tourney? We have to earn this, it is not going to be given.

I really do not want a #1 seed in the NIT.

DGL shows his loyalty and commitment to the team last year when all of his eligible teammates leave besides one other. (who decides to redshirt)

Always hustles on every play when in the game and brings in positive energy constantly. A true EDG!

He is our best finisher at the rim and has the fastest first step to get there, IMO.

He has taken on the role of being the team leader as a sophomore and seems to be trying to do a good job at it.

He shoots us to a tie in a game where we are struggling to score and for his reward is taken out of the game for someone who is 0 fer the game. Then he is not started in OT.

I'll be the first to admit DGL is my favorite player on the team. I've been bothered by this since the end of the game last night. I can't help but wonder what has happened to "there is no guaranteed playing time here" and "you earn your playing time here". He hasn't earned more time? Am I drinking too much DGL Kool aid? Someone please help me make sense out of this.

I just hope he doesn't leave due to playing time. Brad needs to get his head out of his a$$ and give him what he deserves!

Someone please help me understand. If I am following correctly, we dare teams to beat us with the three, but that is our bread and butter? Is the point to rebound a lot of mixed threes to miss layups? # disappointed, #confused.

We are actually like the best team in the country at not allowing teams to beat us with the three for what that's worth.
