when I start seeing the “imagine what Fred Hoiberg could do with the resources here!” It astounds me. If this program lost to that Georgia state team like Fred did, I can’t even imagine.
Hoiberg is working with a fraction of the resources and salary he would be working with here, and is outperforming us this season in spite of this. A loss to Georgia State with Nebraska resources isn't anywhere near as devastating as our number 1 seeded teem looking outclassed against Loyola Chicago with Illini resources.

And what position is that?
A good solid Tourney team with no real
Shot at a final 4. No matter how we see this team through the orange color shades some people want to wear. We’ve been exposed against UCONN. Nebraska we were at home and couldnt hang with an average team. We are what we are. We chuck too many 3s and don’t play good defense. We’re gonna make the tourney at a 3-6 seed and lose in the 2nd round or sweet 16.

Some of us on this board are ok with that given how awful we were during the groce years. But I’m not. What Brad has done to bring us out of the hell hole we were in before he got here can never be under valued. But it’s also ok to admit maybe we’ve reached our ceiling under Brad and if we can get an A level coach who can take us to the next level of consistent 2nd weekends and the occasional final 4 trip then that should be where our goals are.

Well I am glad to hear you think you know what my profession should be. How about the players not making the same scouting report mistakes every game, being mentally focused, understanding that every possession counts, playing with some nastiness and toughness, taking it personally when you get lit up by your guy, making every board or 50/50 ball is mine mentality. The season is a 3rd of the way over, now we get the BIG meat grinder. Not sure when you think would be an appropriate time. Yesterday was a bad loss. Period
Ok, so what's your argument? Are you done with the coach? Are you putting it on the players? Or all of the above?

Everything you mentioned above are players issues. You can scream, yell, threaten benching....all of it. However, you don't have an unlimited roster of players and it's guys you count on(Tomi), who are some of the main violators. Mirkovic's brutal game is well documented. No sense in beating that drum.

Ultimately, the players win and the players lose. I don't buy the crap that the coaches are 0-3 and the players are 8-0. It's a players game, especially when some are making $1M+. The voice of the table pounding coach is over. Guys will transfer mid season.

I think that the anger is misguided and your post is pretty much headed in the right direction. That said, the same is said for Nebraska and their shooting was disgustingly great.

I can guarantee we are not top 10 spenders this year. I'm not even sure we're top 20. I think we got in on NIL early, but other teams have adapted that had earlier refused and we lost our advantage. We don't go to Europe as hard as we do if we're spending top 10 money.
Maybe, but if we look at our roster - Kylan, Keaton, Stoj, Mirk, the twins, etc - is that really a personnel grouping you look at and go... "yep, we absolutely needed to upgrade?" Of course we're not perfect, but I don’t think a lack of firepower is the issue here. At all.

KY reportedly spent 20mil, right now Illinois absolutely has the better roster.

I actually think the frustration is that WE KNOW we're the more talented team (despite saying we don't have $$), but still can't get the job done. That's different from, say, the secondary on our football team.

We’re still mad about a hurricane relief exhibition game in 2017, huh?

Ironically, the first ever “game” our everyday guys Trent and Damonte played in.
Who is mad? We revere the guys that played in that game. Our low will forever be the UIC loss before Brad showed up

And what type of a contract did Josh just give Brad? If you trust the AD, then you should trust the coach, right? Unless you're insinuating that he made a mistake?
I believe Josh erred after the 21-22 season. Brad completely mismanaged that team. I knew Brad was not “the Guy” after that season. We are simply a team that will get to the Round of 32 and lose. TSJ and Domask willed us to the second weekend. Brad in his initial presser stated that winning a Nattty is something that can happen here. Hmm, we haven’t sniffed a Natty and he has been out coached in many a game. I want a new direction. Michigan has passed us, we are not a Purdue’s level, MSU is better, Nebraska has a coach that will win, UCLA is better than us. Those 5 teams are better than us this year. We will be fighting with OSU, IU and USC for the 6th spot in the conference. We will never reach the S16 again under this system. We have a defensive stud riding pine while we fail to stop players who light us up in the first half.

How bad is Nebraska resources actually? Do we know? I actually don't hate Fred, this isn't some anti Hoiberg point.

But I was alluding to the Fred Hoiberg Iowa State versus UAB*** - where Iowa State was a 3 seed - and got bounced out by a 13 seed in round 1. Tbh, probably much worse than the Loyola game.

Ok, let's attack this in a different way because the discussion is coming across as an attack on Mirk, which is my fault. My use of adjectives has been poor, so let's back up.

In your mind, what does Mirkovic do well and what does he not do well? What's the strongest part of his game?

No, I didn't see it as an "attack" on Mirk. Your comment about lazy posters with nothing to offer with regards to the "technical" part of the game was the "attack".

What Mirk does well and not well is born out in his stats....or the technical part of the game if you will.

That's why I recommended you check those and recalibrate that take.

He had a 19 year old Euro freshman "how do you do" vs the B1G game. It won't be his last struggles.

Reading is a skill. My entire post is that it is the players that need to get their act together, go back and look at my posts, I never mention the coaches once. My original post that you chose to quote and respond to was that I thought it was time to call a players only meeting. And for the players to take account for their lackluster performance, not one thing about the coaches. I see that you like to believe your posts/opinions are truth.

And how many people made a big deal when we beat Kansas in a exhibition game?

Little different than making a big deal about a game that happened 8+ years ago in year 1 with John Groce’s roster though ain’t it?

In fact, I’m sure there were lines of naysayers after the game saying not to get too excited because it was only an exhibition. Believe we went to an E8 that season.

I do. If I didn't, I wouldn't make them. I'd hope the same for you?

Summary of the post game:

1. Some people are tired of Brad. Some people are not.
2. Some people see consistent winning but not winning in March as not enough and the coach needs to go. Some people want to see winning in March, recognize it hasn't happened as much as we want but are willing to stick with it for a bit longer.
3. Almost all I have seen TRUST that Josh Whitman knows what he is doing and will make the best choices for the University to continue to rise the ranks of college basketball programs.

Point #3 should negate any arguments on point #1 or #2.

Let's all let go and let Josh.

I think some of you need to listen to an EDG

Ive said it since year 2 of the tenure, but Brad isn't the answer. I watched the game again (don't do for your sanity). No out of bounds plays (as always), offense was more stagnant and 1 on 1 than I originally thought, defensive breakdowns almost every possession, and he never talks to his senior assistants (O.A. or Geoff) ever, just Tyler. What has he done, daddy?
