Is it just me or is it a different shade of blue & orange? Lighting?

Possibly an unpopular opinion in this forum, but if comparing those two pictures, give me the bottom jerseys all day....cleaner and more modern at the same time.

This seems like a "new" jersey for newness sake, not because it's materially better, IMO. Not sure this change needed to be years in the works.

100% agree. Last year’s kits were way better.

Above all, I'm thankful for no lettering on the jersey, if for no other reason than that we will never face the possibility of "Illinlis". Or "Illinlol":

I can't pass up an opportunity to mock IU.

I would have to see them on the field, but I think I agree with you regarding which uniform I prefer. But the striping being consistent helps a lot with the new uniforms especially with the striping on the helmet. I also think these uniforms are more consistent with the 80s/90s period of time that we are kind of pushing more in the Bielema era, rather than the Butkus era I doubt he has much connection to. Away uniforms not very different from what we've had besides shoulder stripe, as I think Nike probably considers them to work well which I would agree with.

My thoughts

1. Definitely an upgrade
2. Loving the navy jersey
3. The white jerseys are growing on me
4. Those 9s need bottoms
5. Need to figure out a way the differentiate our jerseys more from Syracuse

Thank you. I couldn’t figure out why the 9’s looked bad for some reason. Also I for some reason the number don’t works for me on the sleeve but I’m not a fan of it on the front.

I’ll gladly revise my opinion when we make the rose bowl this year

A lot to like here:
- helmet is an improvement overall; gloss just looks better for us (maybe it's an orange thing, I dunno), but the return of a matching stripe is very welcome
- outlines on numbers - thank god
- I, personally, like the shoulder stripes. Tough development for the "Death Before Syracuse" contingent that inhabits these parts.
- Pants stripes - good to have them back, they look good

Negatives:
- the number font: remains terrible! am guessing we did not have the ability to go outside of the rebrand here
- Block I on helmet and collar AND pants? Overkill. I guess this is finally the moment where The Shield goes gently into that good night
- we don't need white pants
I hope that the numeral font doesn't carry over to any basketball uni upgrade.

Some of y’all are never happy. Complain complain complain. I’ve said it before, only LSU, Ole Miss, and UCLA have shoulder stripes. I’m much rather be in the minority than have a uniform that everybody else has.

The helmet is an improvement. Everything else is a downgrade. Shoulder stripes are awful. Previous set is way better.
Eh, agree to disagree. Our away uniforms were so plain as to be a bit of a joke, and our pants should have the stripe. The number outlines alone make the orange numbers on the white look a million times more professional. I don’t love the shoulder stripes, but these are absolutely better than the old whites.

The problem with the old set wasn’t the home ones, which were fine (though white numbers looks so much better than orange). It was the away uniforms, especially when we wore white pants, that looked so plain that they seemed to be tossed together at the last moment … there’s literally no design to them and hardly any blue at all.
