rumor has it:

steelers have a deal to move to the bears spot if Carter falls that far.
given the bears need a whole new roster, (slight exaggeration),
moving down to 17, move up to pick 32 in lieu of the 46th pick
and a late rounder is probably smart.

just don't pick the Hawkeye!

and if Paris Johnson is still there the Bears better not wait for trade offers,
run to the stage and get a plug and play left tackle for the next 10 years.

The Galloping Ghost

Washington, DC
At this point in my life, I watch basically no NFL. I grew up a Washington fan, but the Snyder years have completely crushed any ability to care about the league. I don't even get NFL alerts on my phone anymore. Despite that, I gotta say that I'm actually excited about this year's draft. The possibility of Spoon going as high as three. Having at least four guys getting drafted, all of which were vital in lifting us out of the cellar. We're going to hear "out of the University of Illinois" multiple times this weekend. This is going to be fun and I couldn't be more proud of our guys.

I'm right there with you about the Snyder era but maybe a little hopeful maybe new ownership will bring my interest back to the team. I do have to say after not paying attention to the NFL for a couple years though I got hooked on NFL Redzone and watched more football last year than ever before.

Dane Brugler likes one of guys and Brugler has a great rep

I have access to that Brugler big draft guide. Illini summaries below. My list below includes players earning at least a Preferred Free Agent (PFA) Grade. Guys like Luke Ford, Jonah Morris, etc. have a passing mention but do not get a write up. If anyone wants more details on an individual feel free to PM.

QB Tommy DeVito - QB16 - PFA

Summary: Overall, DeVito showed improved pocket feel and downfield touch in 2022, but an NFL career requires more consistency than what he has put on tape thus far.

RB Chase Brown - RB12 - 4th Round #128 overall

Summary: Overall, Brown has mediocre run strength and must continue to prove himself as a blocker, but his ability to pair his quick-scan vision with his controlled footwork should translate well to the next level. He projects as an NFL rotational back who will be ready when/if a starting opportunity arises.

OT Alex Palczewski - OT24 - PFA

Summary: Overall, Palczewski has played a lot of football with experience at both tackle and guard, but he can too easily be knocked off balance and struggles to sustain.

CB Devon Witherspoon - CB2 - 1st Round, #9 overall.

Summary: Overall, Witherspoon needs to walk the fine line of being aggressive without drawing flags, but his fiery play personality is a positive, along with his cover athleticism, ball skills and finishing toughness. He projects as an immediate NFL starter with scheme versatility.

SAF Quan Martin - SAF3 - 3rd Round, #81 overall

Summary: Overall, Martin needs to become a better finisher, but he is an outstanding athlete with cover skills, tackling attitude and above-average football character. Though he offers experience across the secondary, he is best suited inside as a nickel defender.

SAF Sydney Brown - SAF10 - 4th Round, #123 overall

Summary: Overall, Brown needs to shore up his tackling skills and discipline for NFL box duties, but he is instinctive while playing at full speed and leaves everything he has on the field. His value for an NFL team will be as a core special-teamer and rotational/subpackage box safety.
