I think most people understand that with an NFL contract for 99.8% of the players , only the signing bonus is guaranteed . the contract only kicks in if a players makes the final roster , and then it’s year by year .

2022 Bears schedule was announced Thursday night:

My initial reaction is that there's a chance they could go 2-1 with that schedule the first 3 weeks of the season. They're probably somewhere between a 5 and 7 win team with this schedule. If by some miracle they're in wild card contention late in the year, that December/January schedule really works for them as they only leave Chicago once during that stretch and that's for a road game in Detroit on New Year's Day.

Don't know where to post this but former Gophers, Cowboys and Bears RB Marion Barber III passed away at age 38.

My only memory of him on the Bears was a game they played in Denver during the Tebow years. Bears were leading late and Barber went out of bounds on a running play, which was literally the only thing he had to not do in that situation.

My memories of him are he and Laurence Maroney running down Big 10 D's throats.

Kramer was bumped up to the first string yesterday (Whitehair was absent). I'm under no delusions that Kramer is going to be the starter, but I feel pretty good about his chances of making the team.

Yeah but if he makes the team it will mainly be due to the lack of talent on the line. That's not a slight on Kramer. Just an honest assessment of the Bears o-line situation right now.

Random thoughts lead me to wonder where Austin Clark is coaching.
Appears Still with Miami dolphins, even after head coach change. Good for him.
I believe a vast majority of their assistants stayed. You don't win 8 straight in thr NFL and not be for real. I think there was major friction with Flores.

I remember a lot of Bears analysts though Goldman would just pick up where he left off after sitting out the 2020 season. I never thought that was the case; I think its hard to miss that kind of time and get back to where you were. I'm wondering the same about Deshaun Watson. Assume he is suspended for a full year--how is he going to look after sitting out 2 years? Maybe it is different for QB's?

He retired after 2019 he never wanted to be out there

He and a lot of other NFL players sat out the 2020 season for legitimate reasons. I don't know where some Bears fans are getting this narrative that he somehow "quit" on the team.

Considering the position he played, it's not the worst idea to get out while you can, especially with the head trauma those guys can deal with. If he's got enough money saved up and doesn't need to do this anymore, who among us wouldn't do the same thing if they were in his position?

A good massage will get Watson back standing up straight and happy.....................
