Fun Fact: Illini only 2 seed to advance. Samscum and UH lose to Akron.

If you think it is a disservice to Illinois fans, consider how Boise State might feel about a Thursday game. The team would need to book a flight, travel, and play all on the same day. And if you are a fan who wants to follow the team from Idaho? Fuggedaboutit!

Certainly he's thinking about Boise Staters. No Illini fan would be so self-serving.

I remember the last time we played Boise St.at home, it was a long cold day for me and others. At least Illinois won the game. Anyone else remember that day and pull a double header.

UCF-ISU set for right before us at 6 PM. If we win, we either go to Bloomington-Normal or Orlando for a game on Wednesday. Would think ISU would be much preferable

Certainly from a logistical standpoint. It wouldn't take the team much more time to get to Normal than to the airport, and certainly it would be easier for more Illini/Illinois basketball fans to attend the game at Normal rather than wherever in Florida UCF is.

That would be Orlando.

It is easy to sell, if the price is right. In this case, that likely means selling for less than face value. Make sure you understand how much of your take actually goes to the website.

I would probably hold off and buy day of if Illinois is in it. Presumably others will be offloading tix (and you could probably still get from box office)

Hmmm. So, Illinois would have to beat Boise St and then the winner of Illinois St./UCF game, and the one of Iowa, TCU, Richmond and Oakland to get to the championship game. Figure out the odds of that, and when I might have to put the tix up for sale if they don't. But the upside is that I could see this team going out with a trophy--even if not the Big One--as well as Tracy's, Mav's and Malcolm's last game in O&B.

Decisions.

If they make it that far I'm probably flying up to NYC to watch in person just to cheer those guys on/out.

This is our 4th NIT in 8 years, and you know what...

If we're gonna do this, we might as well win one of these MF'ers.

As of right now, I'm all in! If we have to be mediocre, let's be successfully mediocre!

The only team left with any real drawing power in NYC is Syracuse, and they were in Brooklyn (at least for a game) last week. They had 4,200 (in the Dome!) for their NIT opener.

No one in the bracket below Syracuse will bring anybody. We'd probably draw the most fans in our bracket and probably Richmond (small school, but heavily populated with NY/NJ kids) in the one below us.

I think it's likely that those half-price websites that usually sell open seats to Broadway shows will have NIT tickets on them.

After seeing the melt down in the coaching thread I just want to see our guys do well and advance. Fight through all the noise.... go out with your heads held high

Picked up some box (Loge) seats for my family and I, figured that I wouldn't likely have a chance to experience those seats for this cheap for awhile since it's like 4k for the season.

What they should do is give the NIT winner an automatic bid to the following year's NCAA tournament. Add a little motivation, at least for the players who aren't leaving. It would also make it much more fun to watch for fans.

Good idea...what's one more game in Dayton?

Don't remember the years but UConn won the NIT one year and the NCAA the next. That the program I am on.

I love this idea. The NCAA Selection Committee effectively "sends" teams to the NIT by having the First Four Out be the four #1 seeds in the NIT....so why not have the NIT reciprocate and "send" a team to the NCAAs (albeit the next year's tourney)?

If we won the NIT, would we raise a banner to the rafters to commemorate it?

Well, good luck with the 11 foot tall kid, Redbirds.

Haha, Tacko Fall! I'm shocked at how good he's been. I thought he'd be a novelty act at the college level - block a few shots flat-footed, get a dunk on his tippy toes here or there, but generally only play 10 minutes/game due to fouls, turnovers, and conditioning issues. Instead: 11.1 ppg, 9.5 reb, 2.5 blk in over 26 minutes. AAC Defensive POY.

yes... it is an accomplishment. Its not as easy as you people like to make it seem. Its a bunch of Illinois teams in this tournament... (and you all acknowledge that we are better than the results this year)

Yeah, still a problem for him. Saw him in the UCF-Memphis AAC tourney game, and it was comical. Picked up 2 quick fouls within the first 4 minutes. The first was him jumping into a spot up shooter 15 feet from the basket. The second was him running over the PG at half court running up the court. I literally don't think he saw the guy a foot and shorter than him until it was too late.

In the 4 minutes he played, he altered at least 3-4 shots. It's crazy the arc that guys have to put on the ball to avoid getting blocked. Conditioning doesn't seem to be a problem. He actually reminds me of Nnanna in his defensive tenacity and "offensive prowess"
