I did a bit of analysis myself and I see no reason why we could not play at MS on Thursday the 11th.
I also believe we could play at Nebraska on the 22nd with a back to back at home on the 24th.
Can't see why these things can't happen.
I am willing to predict that something will happen on the scheduling front and someone, maybe even me, will complain about it.

I'm sure it's unlikely, but I'd love to schedule Houston and beat the crap out of Calvin Simpson and Cougar High after they allegedly couldn't find anyone to play yesterday besides a bunch of crippled kids.

Could be wrong, but didnt OSU in football have a similar issue and were granted an exemption to play in post season?

They are an NAIA team that had all of their NAIA opponents so far cancel. They are 1-4 against D-1 schools. To Houston's (slight) credit, they benched all five starters for the entire game.

Didn’t the B10 establish that teams coming off quarantine could have 1 week to practice and get back into game form? I know other teams have come right back and gone back to playing, but if I were Michigan I’d want the time and if that’s what was agreed upon it’s difficult to blame Michigan. The B10 shouldn’t have allowed the 1 week for return to form to start with and we wouldn’t be in this position.
I’m not aware of this and I can’t find anything that talks about allowing a week of practice before playing games. I’d love to see it if you have a link.

The Wolverines won't have to jump back into competition immediately. The shutdown officially ends Sunday, and their next game will be at least one week later, as a source within the program told the Free Press that Thursday's contest against Illinois will be postponed. That gives Michigan a little bit more time to prepare.

If the lockdown ends Sunday, why was the game postponed?
MI has had no practice at all during the lockdown. It will take more than three days to even come close to getting back into shape. Game shape is a whole nother world.

So every other team in the league should be penalized for their inability to play? Yet MSU and Neb were required to play 2 days after their quarantine? I call BS, scUM is ducking 5 days is plenty of time to be able to play the Illini. They just don’t want to.

Right but that's the point. Illinois has 3 cancelations, all due to other teams. What if two of those don't get made up and we end up 14-4. Another team ends up with all 20 played, 15-5. By your method, we would lose based on two games cancelled, due to Covid issues on other teams.

Illinois Loyalty! Come for the sizzling hot takes....stay for the solid schedule math!

Tough (crude euphemism for mammary glands). Suck it up and play.

More games equals more chances to watch Ayo and Kofi in action. It's a beautiful thing gentlemen. There's never been a dynamic duo like this wearing the orange & blue. 😊

This is right tough? Other teams have had to do it, but heavens no way darling Michigan should be expected to play by the same rules. I think if they are off quarantine (which by the way not one basketball player suffered from), and they refuse to play with 4-5 days of practice Kevin gutless Warren should step in and make the forfeit the game. If you can’t play say a tennis match you forfeit. Michigan is gaming the BIG because they can. Hope it comes back to bite them in the butt.

COVID messes everything up. There can’t be a simple “winning %” rule or a “who won more games” when all games aren’t played.

There are too many variables.

The B1G will simply have to assess this as they go, try to get some make up games in, and then make a final determination.

I mean, if two teams find themselves as the clear #1 and #2 of the conference but have a disparity in total games/wins/losses (for example let’s say 13-3 Michigan vs 14-4 Illinois) and those two teams haven’t played, maybe set up a one game regular season matchup the Monday or Tuesday before the B1G tourney and have the winner take the regular season crown. They would be a top seed and wouldn’t play until Friday anyway.

Heaven knows what they will do if it isn’t a 2 horse race.

Bottom line: They have to be creative with this. If it were simply winning % NW could have stopped 3 games in and won it all. If it is only games won, good teams may be wrongly penalized for there own or their opponents COVID cancellations.

Either method by itself is unfair. Have to use some critical thinking/decision making in this one.
Like BU said, they'll just hafta sort it all out at the end. Things could get even crazier during these last 3 weeks.

Biggest concern are positive cases come tourney time. Possibly Johnson/Johnson vax availiable by first week of March along with pfizer and moderna. If players take it, only sit players who are active positive cases, allow others to play.

Yeah, Sparty isn't in any position to complain about their situation. They just need to win games no matter when they're scheduled.

I'm sure they got a nice check out of the deal, though.

Virtually all players and staff are in phase 2 which will be eons from now. Teams will either have to skip the line or play the tourney unvaccinated. I sense an impending violation of medical ethics.

If the big ten was actually serious about making up games this is exactly what they would do.

I ❤️ them completely, too, but "never" is a long, long, time. ;)

Michigan has one loss, what if they don't play anymore games. You think they should win conference?
