I'm not an attorney, but I'm pretty sure that the terms of his contract with Northwestern (aka "Car Wash U") govern the terms of his hiring and firing. The 14th Amendment covers due process as it relates to the government, but Northwestern is a private university, unrelated to state or federal government. One of our resident attorneys on the Loyalty staff may feel free to chime in on this. 😉

NW backpedalling rapidly trying to keep new stadium alive. JMO why do they need new stadium if they are returning to 1-11 days (pre Barnett/Walker/Fitz)

Schill also wrote a letter to the Evanston community that the school is willing to modify its zoning proposal to the city along with a few other changes to the initial plan ahead of a Land Use Commission meeting.
- Northwestern is willing to reduce the number of concerts to six per year.
-The University won’t ask for the ability to host unlimited 10,000-person university events at the stadium.
-Limit community-based activities at the stadium and plazas to 60 per year

Fitz field?

You really can't blame former players for circling the wagons. Their reputation and the reputation of the university they attended and no doubt love are at stake. Many of us would stand by that thing and those we love even when the offenses they are charged with are cruel and/or cowardly. IMO, it's a very bad thing, it's been outed, the university and it's people will have to be accountable and atone for it. It has little to do with the University of Illinois.

One thing Fitz has going against him right now is that hastily rushed letter written by “The Entire Northwestern Football Team.”

“The recent allegations brought forth are exaggerated and twisted. It is disheartening to see that the allegations brought forth against our team have been exaggerated and twisted into lies.”

“It is crucial to note that our Head Coach, Pat Fitzgerald, was not involved in any of the alleged incidents in any way, shape, or form.”

So… the hazing didn’t happen. Also, Coach didn’t know about the hazing… which totally didn’t happen!

On one hand, autocorrect's an annoyance. On the other, attention to detail doesn't exactly seem to pervade the press corps these days. ;)
It’s one thing in a text to a buddy. It’s another where you are a professional media outlet, quoting another person, and publishing for the world to see. Unless the lawyer actually wrote or said it that way (which I doubt) and even if so then there should be a ‘sic’ inserted.

I wouldn’t be so up on my high horse here but it’s NW, and I hate NW. 😛

I don't hate them. I simply condescend to them condescending to us. I'm an American and have no patience for that faux class snobbery, or the parental purchasing of social class. Lived in London for several years as a young man and had my fill of that BS quickly. I'm savage when I run into it in DC.

Upon reflection, I believe it's quite possible that the Daily NU staffer who tweeted that actually is a sufficient ignoramus to believe that the phrase "in devoted service" actually is "into voted service." :ROFLMAO: If you look at the actual article online it quoted Webb as writing "in devoted service".

Finally, since we're kicking NW's withered carcass as it writhes on the ground, I recall watching the end of an NW football game in 1995, the season when they finally won the conference. Star RB Darnell Autry was interviewed after the game. I was in B-school at the U of C at the time and my roommate was a good (and properly articulate) Indian guy who'd gone to Stanford undergrad.

Autry actually said "I don't intend any arrogancy..." and we both fell out laughing. We got a lot of mileage out of mocking him for the remainder of the school year. There's your top-drawer NW education!!
