Needed our best effort. Didn’t get it. And also had a few breaks not go our way. Disappointing.

But I think there’s a lot to build on in this game. Defense played the best they’ve played in a month. Protection held up pretty good. But we look like we need a bye.

Heal up. Hopefully Valentine isn’t seriously hurt. Build on this game. With the exception of Washington, no other team/qb really scares me compared to who we’ve played. Maybe D can be more aggressive back half of the year.

Back to back 9 win would be incredible really, and 10-2 is still very much on the table. We aren’t quite a seriously playoff contender just yet but still amazing what Bret has done.

D played plenty well enough, everyone else, not so much
All very winnable games after the bye, though
hopefully we are completely healthy for our next game except for X of course
I think we’ll be underdogs against Washington, but we could go 4-1 down the stretch. 9-3 would not be a bad season at all. The fact that i even typed that sentence about illini football shows how far we’ve come. 10-2 would be great, but we’re not a playoff worthy team imo.

This loss totally on the offense! Interception, fumbles, muffed punt constantly put the defense in a hole! can't run ball inside 5, stupid offside on critical 3rd down! Didn't get embarrassed but definitely not ready for prime time.
After saying all that-this is so much better than going through losing season after losing season. Now take the next step

The thought is NOT about covering the spread for 'gamblers'... the thought is to try to score the most points possible...

Too many mistakes, too many turnovers, and the refs protecting the NCAA's golden goose at an insanely ridiculous level equals a loss. At least we weren't embarrassed and showed heart, especially on defense. And I'm while I'm not saying we would've necessarily won if it weren't for the countless bs calls/non-calls against us, but I'm also NOT not saying that. 😁 At the very least it would've been a MUCH closer game.

As I asked in the game thread, how do we, as fans, force change on referees just straight up getting away with horrible officiating? It's been going on in every sport for far too long, the biases in favor of the cash cow are egregiously obvious to anyone with eyes, yet it just keeps happening. And it pisses me off to no end when players, especially young college kids, play their absolute hearts out, but because of a crooked ref/refs favoring favoring the cash cow teams, the outcome of the game is pretty much a foregone conclusion. There's GOTTA be a way for the millions of fans sick of this ish to force the leagues to put a stop to this, I just wish I knew what that way was...

Thought we played really well today and showed a hell of a lot of heart and effort. It was the turnovers and inopportune penalties that absoluty killed us and that was the difference in the game. Can't do that against good teams and win and it's a shame because everything else was there. Gotta rest up, get well and go to Washington in 2 weeks and get a big win. This loss doesn't kill us, it'll be the next 5 games that defines us. Go 5-0 and you still have a shot, gotta make it happen.

Player of the game for the Buckeyes......that one female referee. Will she be graded after the game? Will anyone even say anything to her about calling pass interference correctly?

I hate to say but our we actually rooting for indiana to win over Oregon today?I just threw up a little typing that

My guess is that we drop out... mainly due to our decade old past... NOT due to our play... Are we the only team to score TD's on tOSU this season... Will we be the only ones for the whole year ??? could be...

I know a lot of us feared an Indiana situation. Fortunately didn’t get to that even if offense did flirt with it at points this game.

i certainly did. pleased that it never really got to that point. feeling better about uw game

I didn't see any TV replays that suggest the refs mis-called anything... Perhaps the Valentine fumble - which could easily been a forward motion stop...

Scoreboard not close, but the turnovers really hurt and were difference (too many short fields for OSU). Two of them arguably were blown calls (defensive pi and forward progress stopped). Disappointing result but not surprising. This team is simply not in the CFP tier of teams.

Time to rest up and get healthier. Every game from here on out is winnable. Get to 9 wins and I will call it an excellent season. 8 wins is also good. We are about exactly where many thought we would be at bye week (5-2). Feel much better today then after IU game.

Welp...at least it wasn't a blowout.

We'll likely get that sixth win in the next game or two. Yes, the officiating was suspect. But outplaying even such circumstances is, perhaps, the mark of a great team vs a very good one.

Big picture: the program is so much better than pre-Bielema. It's fun to talk about Illinois football again. And the players and coaches deserve a lot of credit for that!
