The officiating was criminal all night. This crew has hosed us before. There is absolutely no way that either of the two bald headed refs can be that bad and ref at this level, it has to be intentional. If Whitman doesn't throw a fit with the BIG he should be ashamed. Our players and coaches put in too many hours of effort to have a game taken away from them by those incompetent boobs. They fouled out Kofi before on phantom calls.

EJ Liddell is the MVP of the Big10 in my opinion based on what I saw tonight in a big game.
I hate to say it but I think Kofi just lost out on the BTPOTY based on this game. We just don’t have enough games left. I also don’t think this game represents Kofi. That’s what bugs me. He’s so much better than this showing.

The complaint is Kofi had 15 shots was getting hacked and didn’t shoot hardly any free throws. It’s a reoccurring theme. We should be getting a lot more foul calls with Kofi.
I don't disagree with you necessarily. However, we're talking about a 7'0", 280lb, powerhouse of a human being. I'm going to give Kofi more credit than that. He gets slapped and hacked, but quite honestly, nothing that a guy of his size and strength, shouldn't be able to finish through. If he wants to play professionally, all of those missed layups that people say he got fouled on.....those need to be drop step dunks. If he goes up strong, there's not one college player that's strong enough to stop him, refs or no refs. We see flashes, then it's back to trying to lay a bunny off the glass, fading away.

If the situation had been reversed and that was an osu guy driving to the rim , you can bet your a** a foul would have been called .........probably a flagrant 2 for that nasty body check by them bully Illini players......

Every d*mn game is the same ......kofi gets mauled ....play on .........we breath on the opponent .....foul on Arch
It’s always a foul on Arch.

This was a defeat, but I was more optimistic after this one than the last two. We found the urgency late in the second half, but the team as a whole needs to find that urgency sooner so it avoids the ridiculous run that osu went on in the second half. If BU doesn't get tossed to fire up his team, this would've looked more like the rutgers loss. I'm hopeful this game is a turning point for team's mentality and urgency. The talent and IQ is there just need to get mentally tough come tourney time. I'd love the B10 championship but if we lose that but makes us stronger for a deep tourney run, I'll take it.

This is the first 5 minutes of the basketball game in Kofi cockburn got fouled 10 times within the first 5 minutes. I love officials but these officials and they keep doing it I can show you what they did the second half and I got literally 30 still shots of Kofi getting Fou. I don't get it nor understand it!!

The point is there were 3 fouls called on OSU when Kofi had the ball and he fouled out! All I want is consistency! He was called for the Edey elbow out spin to the basket. Again no consistency!

We played poorly. Plummer saved the offense hitting unreal shots. The offense is a real concern. Very little movement.

The refs were awful, no doubt. But this game was lost at the stripe. They made FT's, we didn't. That was bound to bite us at some point as we've stunk at the line for a while now.

What? He's beyond wrong. He's basically saying what the refs are doing is justified.

"Hey, yeah it's a foul, but you're a special human giant so deal with it."

"Oh and by the way, we'll call touch fouls on the guy who's 4 inches shorter and 60lbs lighter. So deal with that too."

What a load of hot garbage. Justifying the incompetence of these officials is worse than their incompetence.

The photos look blurred but they do show he’s being hacked a lot and their hands are all over him. The B1G should do something about this but will they is the question? Karen Warren is probably in his office tonight laughing away with his pals from the B1G because his investment in paying off the refs paid dividends.

Yeah he couldn’t afford to give his good ole buddy Juwan Howard a big fine but since we are Illinois, he most definitely could afford to pay off the refs so we could lose. I’m so sick and tired of this BS all year.

I just watched the BU presser. He said the same thing....9 missed layups. That's coming out of coach's mouth. I agree 100% with him. If I thought it was the refs that kept him from converting those layups....I would. I think Kofi is better than that. It's a major bummer.

Correct. The same coach got T'd up twice and thrown out because he got fouled on 98% of those attempts.
Should Kofi have converted some of them? Sure..he has to be better...agreed.
But to expect him to finish time after time with two and three guys literally hacking him...whether or not he brings the ball down to gather...is complete horse hockey.

That was the most raucous I have ever heard Assembly Hall, even moreso than Wake. The combination of the refs being complete crap the entire game, Brad getting ejected, and that comeback about blew the roof off the building.

OSU is a bad matchup for us, and particularly when they are allowed to play Kofi in the manner they did and then Kofi can’t breath on them on the other end. We don’t really have a great matchup for Liddel, Branham, or Young (Young individually is not a problem, but when he is allowed to play Kofi without being called for obvious fouls and then can shoot threes, it becomes a matchup in OSU’s favor. Obviously CoHawk can handle him individually, but Kofi being drawn away from the basket is a negative).

We have to figure out how to play the pick and roll defense a bit better with Kofi. Teams have been burning us and teams are going to continue to try to exploit the way we play it.

A big part of getting stops was actually not having Kofi on the floor because OSU didn’t know what to do when they could no longer exploit our pick and roll coverage.

I'm not saying that at all. I'm saying that Kofi is good enough to finish through contact, foul or no foul. Coach said it himself....Kofi missed 9 layups. I agree with him. Were there bad calls/no calls? Absolutely. No doubt about it. Could the refs have whistled those, absolutely. That said, he's too good of a player to miss those shots. While many will pound on the refs, I look at an All American center who had the ball 11 out of 12 times, right at the rim...and converted 4 times because he tried to lay it up vs going up strong. Can't control the refs. You can control how you play and tonight wasn't one of Kofi's most determined outings. We all see when Kofi is feeling aggressive. He dunks everything and let's everyone hear it. Not so tonight. He's got a big challenge on Sunday. We need him

Per Bruce's usual, the game was lost coming out of the halftime locker room. I would enjoy a coach more that recognizes in game trends. Like Plummer is hot. Kofi is getting hammered and can't finish. Trent is a mess. Pressing when the team isn't giving max effort helps to engage all. 94 feet of hell. Rotate fresh bodies. No one cares if Payne and Goode and other bench types pick up fouls as long as they are hustling and being disruptive. Coached correctly, most of these close losses are winnable. Long time board observer. 40 year fan. Not probably as positive as a lot of you. Sorry. Love the Illini. Just see we can be better. PS practice free throws please.
I appreacite your comments. The bench does seem underutilized. Coach could help the guys out a bit. He even said that with the reffing crew made him think Kofi would be in foul trouble. Why not help Kofi and the team by playing to your strengths. The press worked (thanks Coach Alexander). Hawkins at the 5 was a great shakeup. Keeping the other team guessing helps you. And it helps make scouting tough. I hope coach learned a few things about his team in this loss. There was a lot of positives (amongst the disappointmen)

Absolutely agree. The consistency in reffing in the Big 10 this year has been beyond awful. The quality of the refs is down. Nothing was worse than the three second call vs Kofi at MSU. Hasn't been called all year. Tonight, again, not one of the zebras better outings.

I'm not saying we wouldn't be co champs but it would be weird to celebrate that with a team who beat us twice...just like it would be weird for us to share a title with a team we beat twice
Except that we actually weren’t co champs based on a technicality.
