"Small" ball with CoHawk at the 5 should be the Kofi sub for the rest of the season. It clearly created energy and mismatches at the end that almost brought us back. CoHawk seems more comfortable near the rim. He is long, rangy, and has better passing skills than Payne.
Yeah man like I said I'm tired of seeing Payne come in for Kofi. It's a huge drop off. Hawk should be subbing for Kofi for the rest of the season as far as I'm concerned.

If we celebrated a shared title with purdont after they swept us it would be hollow as the fighting Howard's title last year...but dude I don't think I've ever taken the side of we got hosed be the stripes just like Brad has never been thrown out but c'mon man open your eyes
WTF? Ties for the top have always been co-championships in the B1G. There are no tiebreakers for regular season championships. Period.

And let's not count out that incompetent B1G Commish Warren suspending BU for one game.
Conspiracy theory - big 10 trying to push our basketball focused Illinois to focus the Big 10 on football.

Kinda makes sense though…

Dig deeper into those numbers. OSU made what, 13 in a row at one point? They maximized their opportunities. We were 11 of 17 and how many front ends did we miss? Those front end misses are the hidden points and missed opportunities for a second shot. That's on the players. The BU and DMW techs added four more shots.

Illinois had 6 more fouls called on them. For a team that jacked up 25 threes(not going to get fouled doing that), this discrepancy isn't that bad.

That said, Frazier was clearly fouled at the end.
And the 5th foul on our All-American?

Kofi missed plenty of easy layups today.
Watch the replays on his missed he got fouled on a lot of them. With that said he needed to go up stronger but I think O$U prevented him from getting to deep in the lane

Refs missed a lot of action down low trying to establish the post

Right?! A foul call on Trenta layup and everyone would be calling it the most genius tech in program history.
If the situation had been reversed and that was an osu guy driving to the rim , you can bet your a** a foul would have been called .........probably a flagrant 2 for that nasty body check by them bully Illini players......

Every d*mn game is the same ......kofi gets mauled ....play on .........we breath on the opponent .....foul on Arch

I’d love to see it more against smaller teams. It’s all about the matchups

To everyone saying we are out of the big ten race - we are literally a Wisconsin win over Purdue away from being right in the thick of it. We now rely on that more so than before (when we literally controlled our own destiny), but we are in no way out of the race

I'm not saying we wouldn't be co champs but it would be weird to celebrate that with a team who beat us twice...just like it would be weird for us to share a title with a team we beat twice

This is absolutely right. Of course there are things our guys could do better to win. That's just part of basketball. But what is not part of basketball, or at least shouldn't be, is referees allowing a young man, simply because he's huge, to be literally beaten up every stinking game. And enough already with you guys pretending to be the enlightened voices of reason. Kofi Cockburn is treated poorly by BIG officials. Period. If you can't see that you are blind!!
My last post for the night. I just re-watched the game and the plain and simple fact was Kofi cockburn going up for a shot!. At least minimum of twelve times got fouled hard and no calls! That is a big ten officiating issue and that's a shame because he should be the face of college basketball he's such an amazing young man what a shame the Big Ten!
no excuse for us giving up 50 points in the second half but those calls makes such a huge difference and people don't realize it! when they're watching the game! I'm out I've had enough I'll see y'all soon

Brutal game for DME- he did not make “winning plays” , the elbow he threw was ridiculous and a momentum killer you can’t have that from a 5th year senior - he got 2 rebounds all game and couldn’t stop anyone on defense- his stupid foul in the last minute when the guy had picked up his dribble in the corner 90 feet from the basket was boneheaded as well
Over his past 5 games he has a combined 13 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists in about 130 minutes of playing time. He’d have to be an Olajuwon-Jordan hybrid defensively to justify that kind of production going forward.

It’s irritating because of all our guards Damonte gets to the lane the easiest, but rarely ever looks to score it. Then he pulls up in the exact same spot every time and turns around and kicks it out. The guy can really elevate, I don’t understand why he doesn’t look to finish at the rim, like ever.

Per Bruce's usual, the game was lost coming out of the halftime locker room. I would enjoy a coach more that recognizes in game trends. Like Plummer is hot. Kofi is getting hammered and can't finish. Trent is a mess. Pressing when the team isn't giving max effort helps to engage all. 94 feet of hell. Rotate fresh bodies. No one cares if Payne and Goode and other bench types pick up fouls as long as they are hustling and being disruptive. Coached correctly, most of these close losses are winnable. Long time board observer. 40 year fan. Not probably as positive as a lot of you. Sorry. Love the Illini. Just see we can be better. PS practice free throws please.
