Certainly not playing together as a team, but
Penn state was 12/24 from 3 while the Illini were 7/23
hard to make up that difference no matter how much "leadership" there is.

I know there are a ton of perfectionist out there, but for the rest of us really bad days happen. The team was flat and couldn't right itself.

I enjoy watching this team. Even in yesterdays game, our PG dunked in traffic off a half court set. All 5 starters are threats from the 3 and interchangable.

What we need, currently is wearing a plastic boot right now. Goode would help with the 3 and defense.

Just a few short years ago BU was constantly losing his mind on a team that had struggled for 10years, had no real identity. Many people were questioning his coaching ability, calling for his head, asking him to be the charmin version they would want their coach to be. Let the man work. Its his team, its his neck on the line. Remember that when you go see a game in person, the 2 most recent banners in the rafters are because of a guy who couldnt coach, couldnt bring out the best in his players, couldnt retain rosters and is a big ol grouch any chance he gets in an effort to stimulate his own ego.

To me this game came down to... we didn't adjust enough defensively to disrupt what PSU was doing offensively....they controlled the tempo on their offense end of the floor....there was a lot of standing (by Illini defense) and watching PSU guards dribble the ball and back our guards into the paint and then kicking it back out for an open 3pt shot, or pass to a cutter for an easy shot....we weren't good offensively, and that's going to happen from time to time....but defense is something that can and needs to be more consistent...we were as bad defensively in this game as we've been all season

Speaking of the scouting report - does the switch everything defense require every player to know the scout on every opposing player? In traditional man to man, you have an assignment and you're expected to know your guy really well. Now they're being asked to be assignment sound on every player and I could see how that could be information overload.

I've also wondered how much it plays a role in a player's pride (or lack thereof) in locking down their man. When you're assigned to one player, good defenders take pride in making their guy's life miserable for 40 minutes.
Now with the accountability spread around to everyone, I wonder if we lose some of that fire?

It's Division 1 basketball. You gotta know the scouting report on everybody.

Depends on what you mean by best. I’d put Tyger over Pickett. Hunter might have the better rep and possibly be the better pro prospect, but statistically it’s not even close. Granted Pickett is asked to do more and different things for his team than Hunter is for Texas, which accounts for the higher points and rebounds. But Pickett’s apg dwarves Hunter’s and Pickett is averaging 0.5 turnovers a game less than Hunter. So Hunter might be a better fit at PG for more teams, but Harris and company were able to keep Hunter pretty much in check. Granted Illini played much better against Texas than PSU. but they could do nothing against Pickett and have to give him some credit for how poorly Illini played.

knowing scouting report is good.

I just don't understand why BU didn't call TO or correct our players when Dread and Funk went on their 14 point, 2.5 min rampage in middle of 2d half.

Probably because he was just as impressed and caught off guard at the rate in which they converting difficult shots. I personally went from laughing that momentum had completely swung in our favor and they had 1 second on the SC off the inbounds. Well they converted that 3 and the momentum was gone instantly. By the time i said to myself that was a hell of a shot, they were on a 9 nothing run in 30 seconds. These things just happen in life. Shooting stars, car accidents, the line between good popcorn and burnt popcorn, opinions on a head coaches abilities, scoring runs in basketball. If you blink youll miss it.

I think last year the scouting would have looked different. We played a defense that fought over every screen, stayed with your man and had Kofi as a man mountain to clog up the lane. This year we're switching everything so yes you better be studying everyone.
