Also, no idea why Guerrier isn’t coming in more often. Almost like Brad is afraid to use both him and TJ at the same time, and given our defensive struggles you can add in the Goode > Rodgers issues. Frustrating beyond belief, yet I still have confidence in this team outside of a single win or loss.

The right tail of the distribution still exists, and the lower the belief gets in the Illini, the less we’re all let down. That’s the circle of life, we sabotage feelings when things are going bad so as to not get hurt later… but 90% of us keep coming back. Be honest and accept the realities. Think back to Ayo vs. Loyola. No matter how this season ends, you won’t be as sad as that year. The potential, the beauty of Ayo, the #1 seed… if we’re all thinking about how bad it is, remember the letdown could always feel worse.

He gives us so much on both offense (3pt shooting) and defense (switching into guards) that it's almost impossible to take him out for long periods and win.
I was hoping that senior year maturity would kick in, but he was flopping all over the court tonight. Every time he doesn't get a foul, he's chirping at the ref and flailing around even harder next time

Penn St press release: “In light of our unmitigated success against Illinois at Rec Hall, we’re pleased to announce next year’s game between these two teams will be played within the friendly confines of our home-team locker-room. Tickets will be very limited.”

I am trying to be positive, but I truly don't blame anyone for "jumping ship," so to speak or predicting a very early exit in the tournament, especially after this debacle--because this a pattern! I do like BU, but I am beginning to think he cannot coach in these tense situations. I am sure others can bring up solid points that he is a good coach and all, but to be honest, it certainly doesn't feel that way right now.

I wished he could've played DGL and Hansberry (yes, he was injured) more, so those two have the chance to rise up and perform in these situations. If that was the case, maybe DGL is in when up 14 to give others a rest. Then, at the end of the game, some starters aren't as dog-arse tired.

Thank goodness Underwood doesn’t have to coach Terrance or run plays for him. This team would be in real trouble.

It really doesn’t. Who won the natty last year? UCONN. Well surely they won the big east right? Nope

Wtf? Seriously. We have arguably the Best baller in college ball and can't beat a miserable team in front of 3000 fans. Come on horrible coaching. Substitutions, inbounds plays, to letting a single player whining and causing 4 on 5 situations. Discipline and leadership. Strong 💪

Had to do about 6 things in the last minute plus to lose that game and we did all 6.

Goode takes a transition 3. If we burn 10 more seconds of clock Penn State literally has no time to get fouled shooting a 3.

Leave the ball in transition and give up and open 3.

Try to dribble through 2 defenders and get stripped (maybe contact but a ref isn’t going to bail you out in that situation).

Miss 2 free throws. Still up 2.

Foul a 3 point shooter.

I guess I only listed 5 but I’m sure there’s one more in there. Wow, just wow.

And I also think I’m emotionally checked out. Thought we had the talent to be final 4 good but have felt very paper tigery for about 6 weeks. We are who we are and I don’t think we make the second weekend. Some mid major who can cut and shoot is going to tear us apart.

I am utterly dumbfounded and appalled by the collapse in the late minute/minutes. They had the game totally in control despite their atrocious defense. It seems like a new Penn St player chooses to have their career game against us. This time it was a Nick Kern.

This is not a good way to be ending the later part of the season. This defense is completely in shambles. Expecting TSJ to will us into scoring 90 pts every game is not a recipe for making it far in the tourney

Underwood is starting to become an enigma more and more. We love him for getting Illinois back to respectability but his in game coaching decisions and inability to make deep runs in the tournament are going to make for a love/hate relationship and that's tough b/c I generally really like him and what he's done

Inbound to a corner trap and waster your last TO.

I think the loss was on Hawkins. He went back to his old self with bone-headed plays. Just to spite me after I told my wife he had actually been playing well. He wasn’t ready to play today mentally. Too much “partying” after Maryland. Very disappointing game from someone that should be an NBA draft pick if he could stay focused.

It means nothing. Our goal has been and still is to make the final four. Don’t have to win a conference title to do that

He's a gift and a curse in my opinion. When he all the way locked in nobody i want more on the floor than CoHawk. But when he crying and arguing calls he aint locked in and it costs the team dearly. Like tonight getting frustrated with the ref about the free throws. He missed them both after that and that was the ballgame. Add in fouling a 3pt shooter with the game in the balance no senior should be making them mistakes.

Big ten race is lost. Maybe drop a seed line with this one.

At the end of the day it’s only a Q2 loss but the way you lost it was way more concerning. The lack of defense will limit this team in the tourney. Which is shocking given how good we looked to start. Maybe now that I think of it, our defense was a mirage based on beating bad teams and preseason rankings.

Gotta do all we can to shake it off and hold home court against Iowa. But they’re better offensively than Penn st
