And I also think I’m emotionally checked out. Thought we had the talent to be final 4 good but have felt very paper tigery for about 6 weeks. We are who we are and I don’t think we make the second weekend. Some mid major who can cut and shoot is going to tear us apart.
This is where I’m at also.

I don’t even watch the games live anymore as it just isn’t fun to watch this pathetic display of defense over the last few weeks.

If we win, I’ll go back and watch.

If we lose, the game gets deleted without watching.

I know some things are schematic but are the other coaches just not teaching defense at all? The players just look more lost and unsure of themselves on that end than I've ever seen from a BU team.

Also at the end of the day it's on BU to make a change when what they are doing isn't working. He said in his pregame press conference they were doing some things defensively he didn't agree with. THEN WHY ARE YOU DOING THEM?
That's sort of where I'm at. It's one thing for our D to be out-schemed, but they just look lost in a way that feels more fundamental. I don't know if those are related.

I'm very thankful for what Underwood has done to bring us back to relevance, but I think it is about time to accept that we have a ceiling with him as the head coach. There have been far too many mistakes this year that a junior high coach does not make. There has been a trend the entire tenure of lack of adjustments, whether that is game to game, or within a game. We have our stuff, we run it, and hope it works. There's no plan B. Loyola? Ayo PnR all game, just like the entire season. Loyola shuts it down in the first half, so we continue to run it until the final minute of the season. The first two season? I remember after the Michigan game in BU's first year, saying this overplaying defense is insane and will never work. It took two full years of getting our butts kicked to adjust. Booty ball for three games against PSU last year, maybe throw a zone at Pickett for one possession out of 120 minutes? Never a thought.

There's no use of timeouts to stem momentum and get the players calmed down when we get sped up and start making mistakes and letting teams get back into games. The only use of time outs lately, besides end of game, has been after WE make a big basket, to stem our own momentum for some reason.

There's no adjustments on defense. Guess what? Teams have 25 games worth of film on us now. They know we switch everything. We continued to switch everything tonight. Guess what they did? Have Goode's man set screens, just like the last X number of games. Goode trying to guard a quick player will not end well for us most times. Why do we auto switch with Goode then? Change the dang coverage when Goode's man is screening. The stats in the Maryland game for Young when TSJ was guarding him vs. not were night and day... so why let them get a matchup they want? The coaching staff is putting Goode in a position to fail with this scheme.

Domask clearly struggles bringing the ball up the court. This is not MD's fault, but the fault of the coaching staff for not coming up with any other option to bring the ball up the court. Aside from when TSJ was fouled and turned it over during the press, the couple times TSJ got the ball, PSU backed off of him and did not pressure him. Anyone can see this, yet our coaching staff cannot? Others have suggested just letting CoHawk bring it up... also fine option most likely. Domask is best on the wing in the triple threat position, with the ability to back his man down, or do his little side to side ball fake and drive the ball. He has a quick first step, but not so quick after that. Let him play to his strengths.... additionally, walking the ball up gives us less time to actually run some offense.

I could not believe what I was watching tonight, when up by 2 and shooting a free throw, Goode was not subbed out of the game for Ty. That is 100% inexcusable to have your worst defender (at least of anyone that plays) in the game with 20 seconds to go and in a must-stop situation.

I unfortunately do not expect much in March this year. I expect us to get out coached in the game again, out schemed prior to the game, and go down dying on the same hill we laid on all year, rather than seeing what happens if we have plan B and C ready.

Goode might be the worst defensive player I've ever seen suit up for us and that's honestly not an exaggeration IMO.

Domask ain't far behind.

Also can't preach constantly about "everyday guys" and then have Ty only play 15 minutes in this game. I understand he couldn't make FTs earlier in the year but still no excuse for not having him in there.
Ty can't stay out of foul trouble. That's also a frustrating part of this whole thing

How does brad not learn from his mistakes ffs. harmon was inbounding again today. its these things that matter if he cant make the minor adjustments how can he adjust the major ones.
It’s hard to put it on Harmon when we seemed to be running an inbounds play designed with the only potential receiver to be immediately trapped in the corner. 🥴

this one hurts. & is so, so, so frustrating. Coleman has to gain some focus & stop worrying/complaining about the refs. he is beyond aggravating because when he makes 1 mistake, it’s pretty much guaranteed that he has 2-3 more immediately after that. no mental toughness. way too in his head. several issues with this game, but this one stands out to me.

Agree ... My problem is Brad thought having Hamer as DC was a good idea, to begin with ... Then to continue to go with it ... That's something ...
Have the other coaches not taken charge here? I thought I remember someone saying all they were doing these days was focus on defense. I understand Hamer messed up our defense, but how have none of the other coaches stepped in?? It's not an ability thing because this team is capable of being a top 20 defense

BU recruits and had the most talent in the B10 but eventually he has to be a better game manager. Sure Hawkins should hit at least one FT and TSJ shouldn't get picked to give it up right under the goal. But why isn't Harmon or Domask who we want to get the ball to? They are our best FT shooters and better ball handlers than either TSJ or Hawkins? Why is Goode in at all up 10 with 2 minutes left? Why is Goode taking 3s under 2 minutes? I am pulling for Coleman but sometimes better a gracious winner and a few days later you will realize it. Good leaders are NOT trolls man! So much for getting old. Do you think good leaders do that crap or allow it coach?
That said the ball should've been thrown to Domask the last 2 times and not him throwing it in. Domask doesn't get sped up.much and would be less likely to get ripped or miss fts. Thats on Brad.

No way we should've lost that game. We get gifts and choke. So much for being mature when we troll, aren't focused and choke. It took several chokes to blow this in the last 45 seconds. Domask wouldn't do that and should've had the damn ball.

For a while I thought every team was just shooting lights out against us and we were getting everyone's best because we were ranked but I slowly felt that we clearly must be doing horribly on defense from where we were in the beginning of the season. Then, we were playing crisper, mistake free, tough on boards and defense, making free throws, good decisions for crucial stretches but lately our wins just feel like we are escaping. Even on games we lost then, we didn't look as bad as we do during some of the recent wins. Just my gut feeling based on my vague, semi-sober recollection of brighter earlier days.

Hey Brad. Maybe the everyday guys weren’t quite as aware as you thought they were about controlling their own destiny.
