Pickett and Penn State hit some crazy shots. They were just on. That being said, I think it's time for Brad to try something other than the "let one guy beat you and get his" approach. Especially before the IU game.

I'm not sure Brad was okay with Perkins and Pickett going off. At some level it falls on the players having a bit of accountability.

We don't have a single guy on the team that goes to the huddle, tells Brad that Pickett isn't going to score again and then attaches to his hip and blows up every screen. Our guys were good with switching simple ball screens in the second half. That tells you everything right there.

I know it seems like Pickett has a knack for scoring against us, but he just hit a bunch of tough shots and you can't really do anything about it. He was 8-8 on non - rim 2's with pretty much all of them contested. He was 5-9 from 3 which included a stepback 3 over a 6'10 dude.

actually 2 step back 3s over tall dudes....had on on dainja in the first half too SMH

Reading this post game thread shows it is just a continuation of the terrible game thread.........We got beat ........ok , I get it ........

We played very well on offense....
defense was lacking to say the least........
Goode got a three.....RJ got a 3........TSJ got 20 points........
pickett gets away with pushoffs on every play..........
psu set 1 million illegal screens..................
some Illini fans need to learn that his name is Ty RODGERS...........
dj bald head ref is TERRIBLE.............
the other two were just as bad...................

BU on the radio post game .....

we didn't show up....

thats all I can remember or want to remember...................

I think I need to take a few pain meds and take a shower and flush this nightmare down the sewer pipe........

Everything is fine........................goodnight.................

This is what really stood out to me watching the game. Refs can't allow that. but of course they do....

I was glad they let Kofi do it, but now it's frustrating. lol. But a "good" offensive move is not throwing your shoulder into the defensive player's chest then shooting over them with a fadeaway.

And the illegal screens are ridiculous. Then they called the one on Shannon, if I remember correctly, it was when we had gotten to within 7. Then a goal tend that looked highly questionable. Was Shannon's screen a foul, yes, but so were so many of Penn St.'s. Screens looked like an offensive linemen blocking for their QB.

Considering how bad we were under Groce and the early Underwood years, this is an insane thing to say.
Yes and no.

This team isn't bad. Not even close to what they were a few years ago. That right there makes it easier to have a stronger interest in the team. And yet...

With the absurd inconsistency and a team that is nearly unrecognizable from the past couple of years in the form of players that have spent less than a full academic year with the team, it kind of makes sense to not have a strong vested interest.

I know of people that prefer college sports to pro because you typically would have the chance to know the players for at least one, and usually two plus years as they ingrained themselves as part of the school. It made a connection that's no longer there.

FWIW I'm not answering for Jason, just giving my perspective.

After sulking for the night I’ve realized this was a good game to get in before the tournament IF we can make the adjustments necessary. Seems like this scenario plays out in tons of March Madness games: lesser team gets red hot and rains 3s with their one star player going off all night. If we can learn how to stop this, we should hopefully avoid being a victim to this in the tournament.

I want to start a petition that says our coaches and players can never again use the words elite or connected. You got your butt S whipped you didn't play defense you went under every screen you had no toughness you've been playing too much 1 on 1 ball there's no leadership and we don't have a true point guard. We made 5 passes, passed up shots that were wide open in the 2nd half and the final person to take the shot after 5 passes what's sincere Harris that is insane

Think you need to find a new team to root for.

X2.

I would say the same thing about the IU game. You have to try something else after a single player torches you over and over. Double team, hard hedges or something
We have the challenge again Saturday. If TJD starts out by torching us, we need some push back, a little retaliation, a little playground ball.

It isn't even the leading with the shoulder that is bull!!!!, it's letting the offensive player extend their off hand into the defender to push off. When you allow the Harden type step back WITH the extra backwards momentum you create with the shove, there's no way to guard that. None.

1 try to make TJD move to his ri ght and use his right hand more
2. disrupt the passing lanes, to narroww the lane ---looked like an airport tarmac against Penn State
3. agreeed have Ty "the Enforcer" Rogers deliver a few hard fouls
