Not to mention they don't even have enough enforcement staff to handle their current workload, much less the huge numbers of people they'd need to add to do these kinds of investigations.

Speaking of which... why is that? It's not like they don't have enough money to train and pay more.

That's a stretch, I don't think any of the victims were student-athletes.

At least one of the victims was a potential student athlete attending PSU's on-campus football summer camp. The same event that PSU was scouting for football talent, Sandusky was scouting for victims.

Clearly, the NCAA's rules don't adequately cover the situation, but I think that has more to do with the fact that before the scandal broke, no one could have conceived that anyone would need rules to cover such an abomination.

I think there was an assumption that controls in place at the institutional level would be able to resolve a problem like this, along with state/federal laws. Obviously that wasn't the case. As I said in another post, not sure the NCAA has the desire to take this on.

Certainly have to agree with this.
Doesn't seem like they are willing to fund the effort to take on the things that are within their rules, so certainly not likely to take on what is outside of their rules. Your point is well taken
