Voted 8, but I won’t be surprised (nor angry) if we end up 9 seed. We are NOT top 30 team, which would put us at tail end of 7 seed, so I’m not sure why some think we are deserving of 6 seed or higher.
The computer rankings (that are listed on the committee fact sheet) say we are, though. (Checked Kenpom, NET, T-Rank)

This is the entirely wrong way to look at this … you’re deciding we aren’t living up to some vague archetype of a top 30 team, but we’re getting graded on a curve against our peers, like every season. And there aren’t enough resumes better than ours to bump us to a 9, lol.

AND if the head of the committee member that was on between the BTT semifinals isn't completely FOS, he CLEARLY stated that teams that were missing players mid season would be heavily taken into account. Now, I feel that he was talking directly at us. If we're 8 or 9, he was FOS. If we're 6 or 7, it was a legit criteria. We'll see.

NCAA publishes the entire process including metrics that are considered and this easily puts IL at 6/7. No world does the team have an 8/9 resume. However, you are entitled to the opinion - just doesn’t mean the committee will agree. We will see.

This includes both resume and predictive:

I’ve realized a lot of fans don’t have a clue how the process works, the metrics involved, and are completely bias so much so they don’t realize how teams around their team compare.

I voted 8 also. Despite NET KenPom, etc, after the blow out loss to Maryland, the poor recent play of KP, the current status of our bigs after recent injuries and illness, and the season long inability to consistently make 3s, I don’t believe we are CURRENTLY performing at a top 30 team level.

The poll is what seed we will get on selection Sunday not what seed you think we deserve or what seed our performance in the very last game is worthy of.

But you think that will be the prevailing thought process among the Committee? Because that’s literally all that matters for this question. You could be right, but it would be a shocking reversal of what they claim to value when choosing a team’s seed.

This would be completely contrary to how teams are evaluated. Every team has these issues on the 6-10 line. Our personal opinions vs objective criteria set out by the committee may be different but it doesn’t mean the personal opinions hold weight all of a sudden.

Does Michigan getting absolutely destroyed by Illinois just 2 weeks hold weight? FYI - same Michigan team playing for the title today.

It’s not just the last game that matters. Michigan looked so bad on senior day. Does Illinois being clutch vs PU hold weight?

Both these games just occurred and were huge Q1 wins. This board seems to have some short term memories and also ignore facts.

We will find out if these people who voted 8 were right or if it’s just more personal bias that the committee simply doesn’t see. Will report back in a few hours.

Think we get a 6. Metrics support it. Plus I think Bama, Tennessee and Sparty are all trending 2s, so probably only one other 2 we could play if we were a 7.

Emotional individuals who see a couple really bad "recent" losses on our resume but can't conceptualize the resume to peers...or they have zero clue how the committee actually seeds teams.

But the good news is that there is an electronic trail of these individuals. They also would have put the Illini on bubble if they lost either Michigan or Purdue game.
I voted 8... Apologies for getting you so upset. I didn't do any research and know very little about the process. Thought it was just a fun poll and that everyone was welcome to participate in. Assumed that an 8 was a realistic possibility since it was listed as a category, and there were no categories for 1-4 or 10-12. But, you know what they say about assumptions?!?!

I mean, most people on the board seem to be on the same page, about 94% of people think we're either a 6 or 7, and it's a pretty even split, which aligns with the prevailing wisdom. Flip a coin and we're either one of the top 7's or one of the bottom 6's.

I think we are either the top 7 or lowest 6. My vote was for top 7, but if BYU is impacted, I can see a low 6. Even though we got our doors blown off by Maryland, we still had a nice stretch prior with big wins over Purdue and Michigan.
