Most would be delighted to have such a record and stats over the last few years, don't they know how good they've had it?

148-119

2x Big Ten Championships (2013, 2016)

3x NCAA Sweet 16 (2012, 2013, 2016)

Big Ten Coach of the Year (2016)

That's where the divide is, really people get fed up with lack of tournament results, even though that thing is really a crapshoot after the first weekend (and the first weekend is a crapshoot too)

It's crazy they have the PDF of his contract up there.

So crean's buyout drops from $4m to $1m in July. Have to think he's in danger of getting fired at some point after that if he has a mediocre season, which is crazy considering he was b1g coach of the year last year. July firing would be tough for program, so realistically might be looking at him getting fired right after next season unless he does something to redeem himself, which he might.

*Typical IU fans response*

"But we're INDIANA. The Sweet 16 is not an accomplishment at INDIANA; it is EXPECTATION! B1G championships are nice and all, but at INDIANA, we expect BANNERS. We have 5 of them. We are a BLUEBLOOD. B1G titles and Sweet 16s are a given at INDIANA. At INDIANA, we expect to hang banners. The fact that we haven't hung one in 30 years is UNACCEPTABLE at INDIANA. CTC is NOT the answer. We need a coach that brings us more BANNERS."

Also, we're INDIANA, we DO NOT play in the CBI!!!

People think our fan base is critical, but we would be extremely satisfied with those results. However the perception of the two programs by its fans a is not even close. They still think they are a blue blood destination. They have for gotten they ran the only good coach they ever had out of town, then hired a scum bag to coach.

What's amusing about people who continue to claim that IU should have kept Knight is that his record in the last 6 years of his tenure makes Crean look like a hall of famer. Not a single Big 10 title, one sweet 16, and lots of first round exits from the tournament. Knight wasn't just a jackass, he was no longer an effective coach for Indiana. Long past time for everyone to get over it.

Lol, replace "INDIANA" with "ILLINOIS" and 86 the 5 banners part and I'm preeeetty sure I've seen that exact diatribe posted here about 50 different times :)

Only problem is that with IU it is actually true. :(

My favorite IUism is that they emphatically claim that they are a Blue Blood (fine, I have no problem with this, I guess?) but even MORE emphatically claim that a school like Louisville is NOT a Blue Blood and can NEVER be a Blue Blood because you're only a Blue Blood by NOBLE BIRTH ... even though UL has as impressive of a history as IU by this point, LOL.

Whatever Indiana is, they are, too.

Red bloods? Wait...

Yup. Can't ignore the annual stampede of transfers he had towards the end of his time there and the annual Feb/Mar swoon.

Oh, I think they already are pretty over Tom Crean.

https://indiana.forums.rivals.com/threads/does-crean-have-any-supporters-left.144687/

His support among IU fans is certainly lower than Groce's support among ours, and I highly doubt either is above 50%.

Man, reading the thread on that board is almost comical. Not related to what the views on Crean are, but more so how they argue with each other. It's straight up schoolyard bickering! We have our fair share debates on where UI should be, but we're not slinging mud to the level they are haha. Good job, folks! :thumb:

I like making fun of Indiana fans as much if not more than the next guy, but I have a hard time telling someone who thinks Crean is a bad coach that they're wrong.

Man, if we were to somehow win this game the meltdown on the IU boards would be insane.

He's a public employee.

Yeah as a public employee myself I understand my contract details are open for public consumption pending a request. However there's a level of psychosis related to posting it like that. For example, you and a fair number of other posters on this board want Groce gone, but you don't put his contract up on that thread because you're not psychotic.

Is that a dare? :D

...yeah, I would never do something like that

We need to crash the boards and out rebound them by 10-15 for the game. We need to slow it down and dominate the inside. MT, LB, MM, and MF are keys to this game.

I don't have a lot of hope that we can do this but that is my prescription for a win.

My hope for this game is that we have a great shooting performance. I firmly believe that we have more perimeter weapons than every team in the B1G save IU and possibly Michigan. JCL, Hill, Finke, and Abrams can all get red hot and bury teams from outside. It will only happen maybe 2-3 times this year, but if three of those guys heat up in the same game, given how Groce's offense runs, we'll shoot our opponent out of the gym. Like I said, IU and Michigan are the other teams capable of a 3pt avalanche any time (and, I suppose, NU to a lesser extent). Maybe this game we'll rain brimstone on our Hoosier adversaries. Our streaky shooting and outside-in philosophy give me a sliver of hope every game.

Hoosiers struggling with depth issues. Since AO came back from injury, they have struggled to win. I'm sure Crean wishes he didn't Crean a lot of valuable players who would be very experienced by now. Troy Williams leaving early hurt too. Going 6 deep is tough for a whole season even if they're as talented as the IU's top 6. This is one game though, and the Hoosiers are thirsty.
