@Retro62 and I drove 650 miles today to have dinner at The Beef House. Then we drove another 40 to Champaign so we can hang out here tomorrow before heading to Bloomington.

I pull up the Board over a beer at Murphy’s for the first time since Weds afternoon and what I’m hearing you people say is that the $&@@!# plane has flown into the mountain and we should now just turn around and drive home.

We expected more from you. :ROFLMAO::illinois:

How was dinner at the Beef House? I keep hearing it’s not what it used to be, pre-Covid.

I still can't for the life of me understand why Scott was in at the time he got hurt. The game was well in hand- and it was completely unnecessary to have him in. I also don't love the sounds of 2nd opinion- that infers it's more than a week issue.

If those are the big differences why did you point to Mendoza's completion %?

Because when you are playing cupcakes, the only thing that the QB is really responsible for is completing passes and not making negative plays (sacks and turnovers). Pointing to yards/TDs against very weak competition isn’t that helpful. But completion % is helpful regardless of the opponent IMO. I think it’s a very underrated QB stat. Luke has been very good there. Where he falls short is the sacks.

If we can beat IU, USC and Purdue we would be 6-0 probably ranked #6 or #7 and hosting #1 OSU. If we knocked OSU off we could claim the #1 spot. Penn State plays Oregon 9/27 so one of them will have lost. It will be up to the voters. However we would have great chance to run the table to 12-0. Of course then the BT title game vs Penn State or Oregon - ughhh. I doubt anybody will be undefeated by CFP. I would like a Big 10 football championship!
:hailtotheorange:
Why stop there? Maybe we can go undefeated the rest of this decade.

Everyone got all quiet and fickle after the Xavier Scott news.

They need to take 11 minutes and watch the IU vs Old Dominion highlights. Indiana's receivers weren't blowing them away. Y'all gonna tell me that Old Dominion has better Corner backs than our 2 deep DBs? Get outta here

Then watch Indiana's turnover creating defense
3 interceptions
1 thrown 5 feet behind receiver and hit the safety in the chest.
2 tipped passes interceptions that were just slightly overthrown by the QB and ODU receivers touched just enough for the ball to go softly into Indiana's hands.

No punch outs, no strip sacks, no jumping a route or concealing coverage to trick the QB....VERY MUCH UNFORCED TURNOVERS.

THEN watch the punt return of Indiana that went 90 yards for a touchdown.

They are LUCKY the ODU punter didn't keep it and take off. The whole IU return team was 10 yards back setting up blocks before the kick was even off. Not to mention it wasn't like the returner even made anyone miss. Just terrible angles and a missed arm tackle.

We are supposed to believe Old Dominion is pretty good.

Well....
Old Dominion beat VT.
VT played SC somewhat close for 3 quarters.
SC got dog walked by Vandy

Sooooo maybe it's that SC hasn't been great since we pulled their pants down on National TV? Thereby VT is butt...and Old Dominion is just solid for a non P4.

Whereas....

Tulane beats Northwestern by 20
Northwestern loses to Oregon by 20.
Tulane beats Duke by 7 at home.

Maybe Tulane is just a really good team?

Xavier Scott likely out.

Likely could be done for the season …

Continuing to evaluate options but it’s not looking promising for this week or going forward is what I got told … Just have to see …

They are really keeping this pretty quiet and I’m not sure if it’s to throw IU off or they truly are just in wait and see mode …

Losing X sucks, no way around it, but we’ll move forward.

Yeah it’s been a crap storm of: Indiana sympathizers, troll infiltrators, and defeatist garbage that the likes of which I don’t think I’ve ever seen on here.

We’re on the precipice of our football program’s biggest game in modern times and the energy is about one notch above catatonic. I understand a modicum of respect and discretion but this has been ridiculous.

Look how cocky some of these punk Indiana fans are, too. Lol. I know this is big bad, blustering Cig-snotty…but come on.
Their program’s history compared to theirs is laughable. You’d never now it…the way many of their fans carry on.

It’s almost as if they’re ranked 10 spots or so above us. Yes, I know they’re favored by 4 points. But geez. Who cares. We’ve got a team in the top 10! Do we ever enjoy anything?!

We are all hoping it's 1st class gamesmanship..

Short of something being broke in his ankle....you can athletic tape pretty darn tight if I remember correctly.

I'm not saying do anything that can hurt yourself further...though I am worried about him getting an "injury prone" label and falling to the 5th round. Just hope it's something he can bounce back from. Hate for him to come back for one last year (after his off season injury) just to get hurt again during the season and further tank his stock.

Brother with who? Trying my best to not be a Debby downer but to play this off as anything other than a season altering injury is delusional. Time to rethink expectations

Based on what Bret has said, it is pretty unclear where X stands. I am not understanding why “out for the season’ even comes to play?
I would think more information is needed! Perhaps tomorrow. Hope for the best for our young man!

Oh boy. I hope it’s not a Lisfranc fracture!!!

But the way he fell and the way he grabbed the right foot (metatarsal area) immediately afterwards is concerning.

Just remember, this is a common challenge for competitive NCAA teams. I wish the best for Xavier Scott, but him sitting out this game is an opportunity for Bielema and Henry to silence critics. If they've built the program that seems like they've been building then the next man up will be great as well. It's a challenge, but its a common and program defining one.

Has he been fully ruled out for IU? I think the label everywhere has been "doubtful."
