I don't know if he'll be back for Saturday or where he'll be in the season, but right now no."

Oh my God, you guys, we got ourselves a game changer! Illinois' defense is currently tied for #10 in the nation for team sacks. A Cignetti-coached Indiana team has NEVER beaten a team ranked in the top 15 for sacks!!!!!!!

Top 15 in Sacks
L at #2 Ohio State
L vs. #14 Notre Dame

Not Top 15 in Sacks
W vs. #20 Michigan
W vs. #44 Nebraska
W at #80 Northwestern
W at #84 UCLA
W vs. #84 Purdue
W vs. #98 Washington
W at #108 Michigan State
W vs. #114 Charlotte
W vs. #114 FIU
W vs. #128 Maryland
W vs. (#NR FCS) Western Illinois

Last year, Illinois beat #10 South Carolina!!!!!!!!!!!! Should Indiana even bother showing up?

I don't understand why opposing fans feel the need to come to our site and explain to us why they think their team is better and is going to win. Does it feed their sense of superiority?

To be fair, the fanbase should be honored. This is the first time in the internet era where fans of other teams felt it was worthwhile to rile up the fanbase.

CBS projecting an 11-1 record. File that under things I didn't think I'd see. Bret could run for governor, mayor, have a statue built & have his name added to the Zuppke Field name.
I always thought we'd add his name to the athletics admin building, Bielfeldt-Bielema Athletics Center.

Then we'd call it Biel Square(d) for short.

Then again I tend to overthink and really stretch for a bad pun, so there's that. 🙃

I’m not sold on our offensive line, at all. Indiana is going to load the box on first down and give us quick-hit passing routes; will Lunney exploit what’s available? Do NOT want to get into third-and-longs against this defense. Xavier Scott is a big loss. Hoosiers win by 10. 🙁

Please prove me wrong, OL.

Their own site stinks and they know it. For a fan board we're pretty tight and well spoken. With the exception of me, of course.

X is our best tackler on defense. We have really good depth, but he's our leader-tone setter! What a freak injury on our sideline jumping to knock down ball. Horrible just horrible.

Let look at it with glass is half full. Loosiers are without their best running back. Hopefully Mendoza doesn't realize he can rush for 100 yards scrambling. When 2 teams are evenly matched, go with best Qb1 and Coaching. I say firmly that's our FightingIllini!

Man, Bielema’s presser today has me all sorts of queasy.

1. Nobody else seems to have reported on it, but Bret said at the 42-second mark “Ca’Lil Valentine was with us, only guy that played last week that hasn’t been cleared so far. J Bo (Bowick) was out there today and I think as long as he goes forward we’ll have him.” So, does that mean CaLil hasn’t been cleared and we didn’t even know he was injured?

2. Jaheim Clarke was pretty good towards end of last year but he wasn’t exactly a world beater, and now he’ll be rusty as heck if he plays. Newsflash, though, if all he’s doing is running right now, I’m pretty doubtful he plays.

3. Xavier Scott has gone from “ok” to not okay, to now being told where he’s at for the rest of the season isn’t clear…that sounds like a multi-week thing at minimum. If you’re telling me that essentially our #1 and #2 best CB’s are out against a team with stellar wide receivers I’m pretty uncomfortable.

Good news is guys like Heckel and Rooks getting more playing time is a great thing. It also makes it less of a choice on getting your best players (Bailey, Resitich, M. Scott) all on the field at the same time.

This could get ugly quick or it could actually be fine, just like when Rosiek went down last year.

The more Hoosier apologia I read here and on twitter, the more I confident I get this will be a close game rather than a blowout. Our o line has probably taken more heat than they deserved, given that our offensive philosophy of wearing down opponents is the main reason we seem to struggle in the 1st half and then magically are averaging 8 yards a carry in the 4th quarter. Our coaching staff will have the lads ready, and I don't doubt IU is hyped for a chance to prove themselves against a top ten opponent. Can't wait!

Might want to re-listen to this statement because it doesn't make sense as written. X played last week and Bielema said he's not playing.

Not true. There’s been quite a few attempts, the last few years. There’s just no need. We have a bevy of our own resident haters (they call themselves pragmatists 🤣), who revel in tamping down excitement.

You’d think with the recent success & future trajectory, the constant negativity would dissipate. Nope! More have been added to the ranks, unfortunately.

Essentially: Laughery and Rosiek practiced and cleared. Valentine and Bowick not cleared, but practiced. Haven't practiced and probably unlikely to play - Scott and Clarke.

Re watching WMU game as we sit here. Valentine went down 3:45 to go in 3rd qtr.. grabbing behind his knee/some calf. Seemed to walk off fine.
