Oh.... I was practically catatonic after that unconventional 0-0 tie against NW...
That NW game was my first game, and set my expectations very low. If I recall right, SI had named NW as the worst team in the country going into that game. And we couldn't score a point on them, at home.
Couple years ago, I ran into Rich Weiss (our QB that game) at a tailgate and talked about the game. Good guy!

go Illini! Might as well beat another disease infested rodent creature big ten team.

Here is hoping we can make it interesting and play some solid disciplined football this time around. Also wishing all the best for Chase Brown

In 2007 Illinois was 7-3 with some frustrating losses going on the road to play on ABC against undefeated Ohio State as a ~16 point underdog in what seemed to be an impossible task against a national title contender, and won.

Fifteen years later Illinois is 7-3 with some frustrating losses going on the road to play on ABC against undefeated Michigan as a ~17 point underdog in what seems to be an impossible task against a College Football Playoff contender.

I mean, its insane to imagine winning this game tomorrow. But, I say this as someone who grew up a Michigan fan and has seen it all, how Michigan would it be to blow this game going into what should be undefeated vs undefeated Ohio State week? I think you all know the answer to that question....

Had there been divisions in 2007, Illinois likely would have been going into that game needing to win the game to keep their division hopes alive, since Wisconsin would have likely tied with them had Illinois lost (in fact, they would have, although, Illinois had the tiebreaker, but you get the point).

yea, way more stranger things have occurred on sports' big stage over the years.

this one sticks out to me:
in 2016 , the Cubs came home to Wrigley in the WS tied 1-1. Promptly lose the first 2 of 3 at home to Cleveland , and then win the 5th game to send it back to Ohio down 2-3. No one really gave them a chance . They win game 6, and go up in game 7, 5 to 1 in the 5th inning before letting the Indians tie it up in the 8th.

you get the point
