Let's just get on our knees and wave palms to them. I think we win by 10 and Izzo pulls a few more of his grey hairs out from his head.
Besides Underwood, the two B10 coaches I have the most respect for are Painter and Izzo. They have both achieved at a high level, given back to the community, and mentored their players for success on and off the court. Anytime we play and beat them, it's a meaningful win. Let's roll into East Lansing, take care of business, and emerge victorious. Go Illini!

Altman is a great coach and I've always like Muss now that those two are both in the conference.
I think May has also done a great job building this year's roster but was a bit unproven before this year(one great tourney run).

Had a few scandals that have been conveniently overlooked by most as well.
You don't have to like him, but with what, 7 FFs and a natty, the guy's deservedly a legend.

I have very mixed feelings about Izzo. I have learned a lot about coaching from him. I love his program loyalty, the toughness his teams have historically exhibited, the scheduling strategy of playing an unusually high number of strong teams early in the season. He has had outstanding success as a coach.
On the other hand, Izzo's whining is really unattractive and makes him look smaller than his actual diminutive stature. But the thing that has really turned me off about Izzo has been the scandalous behavior and coverups in the basketball program. It has become clear, I think, that over the years Izzo's players have done some awful things off the court and he has failed to hold them accountable. It's disgusting.

Longer than recent years! For me it started when Weber was fired and his comments.
A legend in accomplishments only. Nothing I’ve seen outside of that makes him a legend. And that natty is getting a lot of dust on it. And yeah I don’t like him.
Will be a tough game. They have experience and size. They are at home. I thought this was our biggest road games in the BT. Look at their schedule and they really haven’t been tested as of yet. Go Illini.
No question he has been a very successful coach. But I agree he's not some shining beacon of integrity by any stretch; and I first realized that back in 1997 (I think) - his 1st or 2nd year.
We were playing them at Assembly Hall and there was some sort of skirmish or scrum during the game. One of his players came sprinting off the bench to get involved, and somehow was not ejected from the game. Not only did Izzo not handle the situation properly in the moment IMO, he sent said player into the game very shortly afterwards. Anyway, we ended up winning by about 10-12 without any other issues.
It was at that moment I knew I probably would not like him much as long as he was in East Lansing. I was sitting close to the floor and saw up close and personal his red-faced, crazed behavior during the ruckus. Respect his success and longevity, yes. But I do not respect his win-at-all cost mentality and constant whining on the sideline and press conferences about his team, the other teams, who other programs should have coaching their teams, the state of college basketball, on and on.
Would love nothing more than for us to give him another loss this weekend.
This MSU team has a high floor and low ceiling IMO. They play hard and play as a team just like the classic Izzo teams, but they don't have any stars. That limits them to a sweet 16 caliber team at best.
Torvik says MSU has played the easiest conference schedule to date. I think they are in for a rude awakening when they start playing tougher teams. Right now, I'd say us, Michigan, Purdue, and Wisconsin are better than them. Possibly Maryland and Oregon too.
That being said, the Izzone is still a very tough place to play so they might upset some teams at home. Hopefully not us!

I agree completely, I think we are the better team. One thing I will say though, easy schedule or not, they have won the games they were supposed to. Unfortunately we can't say the same. I'll be interested to see the line on this game, I would assume it will pretty much be a toss up.

Izzo is still part of that old guard and he's never really adjusted to the NIL era. He's proof that type can still thrive, but I don't know how long he'll want to stick around.

The main key to against Michigan State is boxing out. Their offense is not great, they can’t shoot the three, probably worse than indiana and rely on second chances from offensive rebounds. If we can shoot 35% from 3, get downhill on them and limit offensive rebounds to 10 then should be an easy win
First time watching MSU tonight and I think it's clear that we are the more talented and overall better team. That doesn't mean we will win, but we absolutely have a good shot of going in there and winning.
