This is gonna be tough. Michigan is fighting for a tourney bid and IMO Howard getting suspended is a net positive for them. Dickinson can shoot from outside at the 5 which can give us problems. I'm not sold on us winning this game, but I'm wrong all the time. Go Illini!
You do realize that we are fighting for conference title, seeding, etc. It always frustrates me when someone tells us what the other team is fighting for as if we have nothing to fight for or it's less important than the team we are playing. So what? they are fighting for a tourney, we're fighting for something too. Like our team is going to get together before the game and say 'you know these guys are fighting for a tourney bid, so let's not get in the way of that and let's just rollover for them'

I had no idea we were still trying to win. thanks for the update! It always frustrates me when someone puts words in other peoples' mouths. My point was more along the lines that even though Michigan has had a disappointing season, they're still squarely in the mix for a tourney bid so we shouldn't expect them to rollover for us. Obviously we are still trying to win a B1G title and better tourney seed.

True; however, a desperate team playing hard for 40 mins often trumps a better, less-desperate team having long in-game lapses. I'd like to believe the the Illini are fighting for something at this point, and I hope they still are fighting for a share of the RS title. Hard to tell which version will take the court on Sunday and whether they'll sustain an effort sufficient to win. They certainly did last Saturday against an MSU team that, at this point, is ~ Michigan's caliber. It took an epic heater by Walker to close a large gap in the final 7 mins.

I'm an optimist but winning on the road is tough, especially against a team that is literally playing for a tourney slot, not simply a seed.

I desperately want to see 40 complete minutes. No extended scoring droughts. No let-up in intensity. Just 40 minutes of every guy giving it everything they got.
For several reasons, we cannot consistently do that. 2 games in a row of giving up 50 or more points in the second half. Are our starters tired? Do we need more bench play? Do we get rewarded with fouls for aggressive D in the first half and have to sit people? This truly baffles me.

MI is not on the bubble, despite their record. Indiana is. MI has 3 more home games in a row. As much as I despise them, they are ncaa tourney bound.

The way you post it's all about Michigan. Michigan playing for this, Michigan playing for that. SO WHAT! As far as I'm concerned you didn't have any idea from what I saw from your post. There's going to be two teams on the court playing for something not one.

This is not true at all. First both teams are desperate. A less desperate team is going to play just as hard to win the game. I've seen plenty of desperate teams lose and not play hard when they needed to win.

More Hawkins, more Curbelo, less DW.

I’m just done with the lack of production at 30 minutes a game coupled with crap like his flagrant. It should not be this way for a purported team leader and super senior.

I’m already resigned to the fact this team will never reach its ceiling—simply too much has gone wrong from a health standpoint—but they can be a tough out if the right guys are out there. To be clear, Damonte has a role here: the same one he played off the bench last year.

Last night’s game came close to extinguishing the fire in me for this season, so promising, but man that was just horrible.

Agreed. I wouldn't bet on us.

This game will likely be the difference between a 2/3 seed or a 4 seed
I think that, if the season ended today we're a 4 seed. The #2 ship has sailed, unless we win out(6 in a row). It's incredibly unlikely, but that would put us in the ballpark. I think that, realistically, we're looking at best case a 3 and worst case an 8.

Palm has us at a 5 today.

They really need this game @Michigan. Don't want to take any more water.
